pistols because you get great crowd control abilities for mob PvE hunting .. and the moves are a lot more fun to play with an experiment with .... if you become a seasoned veteran with the pistoleer moves, the attraction for rifleman as a jedi hunter becomes less and less .. but hunting jedi as pistoleer i would say does require more skill and understanding of your moves ...

pistoleer. the specials rock. i've never been a rifleman so i am biased. i hunt jedi too, but i dont really care about the range, it's all about getting close to the action for me (win or lose) ... just have fun.

What Ive done, is gone MBH / MP / Rifleman 0140

You get cover up from rifleman, you get a snare to pair up with your root and I like to wear x2 cybernetic arms for the +15 ranged distance arms. That way you can get medium range, and you can use pistols very effectively. I almost always go 1v1 against 200k+ marks and come out victorious.

I have always played Pistoleer since release fo this game lol. I tried rifleman about a year ago and didn't like it due to the slow firing rate compared to my pistols at the time. I sometimes want to be a rifleman just because thier guns look a lot better than the pistols haha. I am MasterSmuggler/MasterPistoleer and I won't give up smuggler for anything so I stick to pistols. If you can handle walking around with goofy looking water guns then Pistoleer is awesome! I still refuse to use a republic blaster though!

I have a question for the guy that mentioned cybernetic arms. What armor do you wear with them if any at all and how much dmg are you taking without armor? I am debating wheather or not to get cybernetic arms. I currently wear a Mabari Chest with Ubese bracers. Does anybody know if the cybernetic arms would prohitbit me from wearing the Mabari Chest?

Oh and by the way I can solo Rancors easy actually just about anything on Dath. You don't need rifleman to kill big things. All you need is a little tactics. The only thing that gives me trouble with my build is when I get attacked by 3 (lvl 78+)or more ranged NPCs. I use disarm on the ones I am not fighting but man I take damage fast with 3 hitting me. I can't wait for concussion to get fixed

I actually think that pistoleers look a lot cooler than riflemen. It's not just about the weapon you're holding, it's about how your toon looks when you're running with it equipped.

DPS is a guide at best (worthless stat in my opinion). Dont choose careers over it. Find a profession that fits your playing style and preferences and dont worry about being uber. My buddy the rifleman can fight a Jedi to a draw, and I cannot. He is just a better player in combat than I - whatever proff you choose, you are a bigger factor than DPS and nothing will change that

Carbineer...its a happy medium, quicker than rifles with a low SAC, yet damage dealing. I really cant imagine a better combo than MBH/Master Carbineer. I'm loving it right now.

But if you only want pistoleer or rifleman, i'd say probably rifleman for jedi hunting. You dont want to get too close to a jedi...

I've been both MP/MBH and MR/MBH. Both templates are fun and each has definite advantages over the other. I wouldn't say that one is any better than the other. However, against Jedi, you're probably better off with Rifleman, because the short range of pistols is well within the saber throw range of Jedi.

No longer true (except for Master Sabers) after Pub 19. Only Master Sabers will have a ranged KD.

I was master rifleman throughout the pre combat revamp (no, it isn't an upgrade) period, although as soon as the revamp hit, rifleman felt rather limited and thus boring. I respec'd to master pistolieers and it's a lot more interesting. It doesn't as many high-damage specials as rifleman, but I do like all the state-inflicting abilities of pistols. I've got BH and carbineer to give me high damage output now.

Talking about the states, that's another reason I went pistolieer. In the old (better) system, I was a master rifleman and master ranger. I was a very serious professional hunter. However, thanks to the combat level system, nerfing of creature knowledge etc (for reasons that'd take too long to go into here), the ranger "lifestyle" was spoilt. The final straw came when I learnt how all the the states that only scouts/rangers were good at inflicting with traps had been farmed out to all the combat professions. It then seemed a waste of skill points to go master scout master ranger, when I had access to all those states in another combat profession, that would also do damage aswell, unlike traps.

I didn't use buffs or uber armour, so why did the combat revamp have to spoil my game?

I had a lot of fun with the temp: MBH, MRifles, Pistoleer 0003, MMarksman. Rifles for range and damage. BH for defense and specials, Pistols for veryimportantspecials. That 4th line of Pistoleer is a must for any ranged combo (IMO), what with the area attack and rooting shot.

I would say pistoleer is maybe more interesting to play with your variety of specials and selection of weapons. Rifles gives range. Damage is similar over time to that of rifleman in that your sac can be upwards of 20 lower for base then any rifle in the game. 65 vs 85 and in worst case can be upwards of 60 better (pre convert exceptionals with 125 sac). Combined with commando or Bh you get pistols that reach 45m and with arms you are 60m range.

Rifles of course benefits mightly from pistoleer in that they of course gain a root and an AOE + another targeted shot that does similar damage to headshot and just a little less then legshot if you go carbineer. Of course bounty hunter advanced critical works and grants even more damage then headshot or legshot if the critical effect hits and is on par with headshot for normal damage when the critical strike does not occur.

I would go MBH, MR, pistoleer 0003, and master marksman for the added accuracy and speed.

You could also take pistols 4004 for speed and warning shot or you could take 0404 for accuracy and another special (forgot what this one is).

Overall master marksman gives better accuracy and speed but taking that extra line in pistols gives you more specials....tic for tac
