Something I am highly curious as to is will I finally be able to map my joystick on the ground. I have no idea how many times I have landed from space and jumped on my speed and went flying into a house while holding my joystick. I attempted to use the current keymap option but the game doesn't allow input from the joystick while on the ground.

PLEASE allow us tounbind the ALT key from Change Mouse Mode in the regular SWG keymap again! Just force us to pick another key to replace it before applying the change, but for goodness sake don't leave us with no choice in having Change Mouse Mode bound to the ALT key as it currently is.

The ALT key is GREAT for making keyboard shortcutsbut if it's changing the mouse mode every time you press it, it can't be used for that.

Since someone is already 'under the hood' in this are could we get this looked at before you put it all back together?

BTW... I like using the 'Windows' key for changing mouse mode. Luckily I have an old .uis file from when we could unbind the ALT key.

Some of my pet peeve bugs:
•Armorsmith protection layers were not converted with the CU.
•Ship Details window does not close when you click "Travel" resulting in the message "You have lost the target. Closing interface."

There is just one (small)issue when not having the ALT key to change modes. And that is having windows open and wanting to move. With the 'modes' system you just need to press ALT to temporarily remove the open windows from the screen and just press ALT again after you moved to bring them back.. With the new system you'll have to switch off every window that blocks your view and then reopenthose after you have moved.

But I'm going tostick to the old system anyway because I'm too used to it. (And what was that saying again about old dogs and new tricks...)

Of course, if someone really likes that setup, we won't make them change it. The alt-key interface isn't going away, we're just giving people an option that many have been asking for, for a long time. Again, even if you really like the current set-up, I'd recommend checking out the new interfaces on Test Center. You might be surprised.

I don't mind the current setup too much, but I can't wait to get home and hop on TC and try these out!

(Psst... speaking of UI... the interface for merchants listing items needs some love too. Spending 30 minutes clicking the same two or three buttons to relist hundreds of items is no good, especially when it seems intuitive to select all items you want set at one price and listing them all at once.)

This week we bring you the new SWG user control interface! Be sure to try it out on Test Center - it makes a huge difference!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Edit: Make note that there are TWO new interface setups. One is like EQ2 (wasd) the other is like SWG. The SWG version doesn't require the use of the alt-key and it also doesn't require you to hit enter to chat. Even if you really like the current interface, I'd recommend checking out the new SWG setup on Test Center.

(Before anyone asks, this Friday Feature was going to be about the new weapons for CU, but a lot of the art didn't get approved in time. We'll post that one as soon as the art is approved. Hopefully in a week or two!)

Someone on our galaxy forum was asking if the Friday Feature would be as cool as the whole slew of goodness this week. I said it would be something along the lines of "Your resources and you". I was close. Law of averages says that they can't all be homeruns. After this weeks announcements, I think you are allowed to slip a bit on the Friday feature.

Eh, what will that accomplish?

You can jump... just type /jump.

Superb news... if I could award TH with 5 stars, I would...!

After playing a good EQ2 session, I found that coming back to SWG is very cumbersome... but now the controlling will be similar! Thanks!

the SWG alt-setup is perfect and i love it!

Fair enough... but play EQ2 for a bit and you'll see that their interface is perfect (all IMHO, of course).

Great work on the new control set ups devs. I particularaly love the MMOG one (EQ2 style) very classy.

One of the only possitives i took from that game (EQ2) was that the interface was easy to get the hang of and felt smooth to control. Youve made my play experience alot better with this.

Typical MMOG my banthas behind. Typical FPS is what I call it Having to press a key to chat. Pfft...

But after reading through the info a second time I think I understand how the "new", not typical, but SWG'ish setup will work and it looks interesting. The alt-mode has never been a big annoyance to me, but this may just work out better. Have I understood it correctly if I think we'll have a alt-mode'ish cursor at all times, as long as no mouse buttons are held?
