The old interfaces are not being removed. You don't have to use these if you don't want to. I will say that after getting a chance to try out the new ones, I can't imagine ever playing the game any other way again. But nobody is being forced to use them.

thank the gods!!! i cant think of ANYTHING more irritating than the EQ2 style interface. thats what WoW uses and i HATED that when i beta'd that game.

i like the default setup but the only thing irritates me is i have to keep pressing the alt-key and resizing the group bar each time i shuttle. it sdoesnt want to remember my last setting. i dont like having the mouse movement rotate my FOV. i prefer using the select cursor to rotate the screen as i play.

so i am very glad the interface i like wont be changed.

I agree with you on that. I thought before EQ2 came out that it _HAD_ to have the SWG interface or it would be awful (I went so far as to complain about it on the EQ2 forums before I had even played it and before the game had even come out). Well, after playing EQ2 since the day it came out and now coming back to SWG (thanks to the addition in the Station Access), I can honestly say the EQ2 interface is a MILLION times better. Yay!!! Glad you are adding this. Can't wait to get rid of the horrid interface that is currently in place!!

That's exactly what we were told about the original SWG keymappings.....

Interesting. Although I was able to avoid having to use the Alt key to switch between HUD mode and camera mode just by mapping it to the right mouse button. It works wonders, and still allows intuitive and simple movement of the camera. Add the WASD mapping and it's magic... plays and moves like a first person shooter. The new mouse mappings seem cumbersome by comparison.

I've already remaped every key, it's the first thing I do when I create a new character. The process isn't even remotely user friendly, it takes well over 30 mins, can be lost if you accidentaly hit close instead of accept, and has to repeated on every character. Please tell me that this wont wipe out that time consuming work.

Don't you force your values onto my ALTernative lifestyle!!!!111!

...

Looks interesting, pretty similar to the JTL layout. I like the look of the new mouse interface, at least on paper. Any word on when this'll hit TC? For pub 13 testing, or is it planned for later?

And I'll echo a couple other posters: we don't care about art, just replace unapproved shots with "Coming Soon!" like you had for some of the JTL screenshots and veteran rewards.

Of course, I suppose it's possible that new names need approval too. I hope LucasArts gives you guys a speedy turnaround.

So basicly your getting rid of the need to press alt to unlock the reticule?I can see where that can be helpful theres times where I have to press alt 2 or 3 times before it's registered, but I have always liked the fact thatI can instantlyhide all open windows by pressing alt. I remapped my movement keys to wasd a long time ago so alt and movement has never been a problem for me. Will alt still have that functionality in this new keymap?

Yup. It's not so much about "wasd" as it is about getting rid of the "modes" that the alt-key creates. You can still play the game using the SWG key set (instead of the EQ2-like version), just without having to use the alt-key to keep switching modes.

Of course, if someone really likes that setup, we won't make them change it. The alt-key interface isn't going away, we're just giving people an option that many have been asking for, for a long time. Again, even if you really like the current set-up, I'd recommend checking out the new interfaces on Test Center. You might be surprised.

i have tried the WASD setup from other MMOs and online games..

in my view, it is a great setup.... if youre playing action games/MMOs...

like counterstrike...

when i play other MMORPGS that uses the WASD i HATE it...

You just cant communicate properly..

i always forget using the enter key before talking... which means that when ill try to talk to other players i end up either running away or having loads and loads of windows i have to shutdown, wasting several seconds

the SWG alt-setup is perfect andi love it!

unless the CURB adds element of action/tactical movement to the combat i will see no reason to change from the old setup.

so feel free to add these new setups.. but dont you dare remove the old alt-setup

Remember, there are TWO new interfaces. One of them is typical MMOG (wasd) the other is SWG.

You don't have to hit enter to chat in the new SWG version of the interface either.
