Thoroughly disappointed....

You should at least have had a technical writer edit the grammatical/spelling errors after you cut & pasted it from the boards.

Scorps I agree the pvp thing was a slap in the face too, but at least they wrote their own nonsense on that one.

I am not a BE but I did read through the post. My favorite point that this was not an original work is the following quote talking about CL.

"The short version is we don't really understand the algorithm that is used. The hope would be that CL would take all of the above into effect. Practically however it seems to mostly depend on damage, resists and the CL of the donors. In addition the CL determining algorithm is supposed to change soon. This makes most of our current guesses fairly pointless."

I wonder if SOE knows that plagerism is a bad thing, they even have software that detects it, when a document is compared to existing sources and websites. I hope that future FF are not as useless.

Not a BE, butI read thorough the guide and it looked great!

Then i came here, read the thread, compared it to the BE FAQs and.... well....

This is likely worse than the SEA friday feature... my god. BE looked interesting to me and i considered taking it up eventually, but I'm now sort of discouraged.

Why I bother asking questions after quitting time out west on a Friday is beyond me. There will be hundreds of replies to this thread by the time you make it back into the office on Monday, and all but the simplest one-liners will be ignored so you can do a multi-reply message of your own then. YES, TH, we study your behavior.

Its not a Ranger. It's a Master Bio-Engineer with some Ranger skills.

Disappointment

I am also a Master BE, and when our correspondant first posted that the devs were indeed working on a Friday Feature for us with information, I was excited. It was time of hope, where we would eventually get information on some questions that we had wanted.

This Advanced Guide truly is a joke. When it was first announced, it gave me hope. Now, with this Friday Feature, it does point to how much effort they put in these things. I'd been willing to wait for an actual true guide, this definitly is something that would want me to quit the game more. I would have rather had a no Friday Feature, then this piece of garbage.

The only thing that this does for existing BE's, is when newbies come in our forum, we can respond back to em, read the FAQ, or the BE guide, cause they are essentially the same thing, causing even more frustation for the BEs.

At the end of this "guide" it says, "To those people who find no new information here, I salute you because you are amont the accomplished bio-engineers in our community". Well, it was these same BEs that wanted an Advanced Guide to help them with their craft, so that we don't make pets, that our out of balance, that when a customer calls them out from there datapad, they don't get messages saying they are invalid, so that we can know what the intended limitations of the BE crafting system are, so then if we do create a pet that is outside the limits, we can let the developers know what we did, and how we did it, so they can fix the problems.

I also had a spur of hope when I saw the announcement of a Friday Feature for the Bio-Engineer class. I purchased SWG just so I could become a BE. I have seen the trials and tribulations of the class, and enjoyed the fellowship with the other BE's when they designed the BE FAQ. It has been an immense help to myself and I am certian others.

My concern for this Friday Feature is, "Should we expect you to tell us what everyone already knows?" Where is the novelty and excitement of finally having information we have longed for? Where is the satisfaction of knowing we were listened to, and given the information we have humbly begged and waited for? I feel as though I have been slapped down, and told "Go away, you know as much as I am ever going to tell you." I only hope the handprint fo SOE fades eventually.

Needlees to say, I am severly disappointed in the developers of a game I so love, that they would slap us down so poorly.

Greetings fellow be's

i originally found this guide, in pieces on the forums, and at this site, (a few weeks ago)

www.swgbe.mmospy.com enjoy.

yeah the adv' guide to be is a wash, but do not fret, for i am here to raise the downtratted spirits of us all. if i can. haha.

welp, what can i say..... we BE's are the orphaned redheaded step child of SWG. we are the only support, support character, we don't make the clothes you wear, we help the tailors make them better, we don't make the foods you eat, we help the chefs make it taste great, less filling, more effective, we do not support characters in the wilderness, with the big pets, we just make them and sell them to the ch's you see. about the only thing i can sell you directly is a nice house decoration of a bearded jax. i remember the days that is ALL we could do. hehe. well, we still have a long way to go,

now for the ramblings. la la la, hehe, can we get some of the rangers mask scent bonus's? or some of their creature knowledge bonus's? i would love to see what attacks they have, or what level they are by examining them,

one more question, i'm a ch and a be, i can tame, train, raise from a baby, even make out of nothing, pets of every shape, size description, but, i know almost nothing about them. almost all my skill points are taken up as a master be and master ch, i know i know, i choose this path. and i am happy with it, but,

how about, if we got a special tag for being a master ch and master be, or master be and master tailor, or master be and master chef. this also could be applied to other profession combos, doctor combat medic is an example.

and,i can't remember what ch level they are when i tame them, how about, if i have tamed them, then when i examine them, it shows what ch level they are.also that with the attacks from sampling them would be great. so when i examine the critters in the future, i can tell what attacks they have, even tho i am not a master ranger, becuase i sampled them, and my, personal datapad assistant remembered them for me. or something.

ever on radiant, look me up,

It's a nice guide, but it's all old hat - this is an exact copy and paste of theplayer-written BE guide that has been on our forum for months. Not what we were looking for or hoping for. This is all just info the players sorted out, and by copy/pasting Mirrl's guide they are basically saying that they haven't a clue what is going on and we players know the best - when the whole time we wanted this guide isbecause we admittedly aren't too sure on some things. Lines likethe followingare really bad for the devs to post... what starts as a player saying "The short version is we don't really understand the algorithm that is used" is now endorsed by SOE as their offical word, basically translating it into "Uhh, we programmed this game and don't know what the sam hell is going on here". We've been led on for a long time now about an upcoming Friday Feature that you guys said would answer many questions we have on the BE board, and what do you give us? A guide written by a player that is months old.

But why am I surprised, since when have BE's not been the forgotten red-headed stepchild of SWG, and when was that expected to change...

...This is just far too funny. First they put in Geonosians, when they're supposed to be extinct (if I recall). Then, they put in a corvette that just happens to have similar undertones as the ANH opening scene...during an Empire Strikes Back-timeline game. Finally, they're putting in Mandalorians.

You really thought SoE wouldn't resort to copy-and-paste plagiarism?

Thanks TH, nice to see it finally )

Onecorrection though, I believe "The profession does not come with a built in macro for doing DNA sampling." was fixed several publishes ago and the game nowadds "/sampledna" for you (if you have a free slot).

Edit:

I finally got the time to read it right through and I have to say I'mrather disappointed in the level of (lack of?) professionalism showed here by SOE's Dev's, and especially Runesabre. Would it really have hurt that much to give Keldarinsome time to review this *cough* document *cough* so he could tighten it up, fix the errors in itand add some guidence on Creature Level?

You would have gotten more "bang for your buck" by just linking to the BE FAQ in our forum. At least there are comments from other people there thatupdatethe "bugs" in Mirrl's original compilation of other peoples work back when the "new" system actually came out...
