I play on Kauri and I was at Fort Tusken the other night and I looted 4 crystals in about an hour. I'm sure they aren't premium or anything too great, I'm not a jedi yet so I can't tell ya what kind they are. I looted 3 blues, which was nice since these where my first 3 blue crystals ever, and one green which is my favorite color, so it was a good night. The odd thing is that I looted them all off of Snipers inside the same room.
Honestly I would refuse to pay millions of credits for a crystal even though I'm sure many would argue it is needed...I think I could wait though

Yes, the tuning sucks and the crystal dropping is sucking now too. It wouldn't surprise me if they somehow changed it in the combat revamp. And yes caves would only be camped, unless you went another way with them and put a cave that only people with jedi padawan can enter. The cave could look like maybe that one crystal cave in Kotor. Wouldn't be loot, it would be some sort of harvest system, that has a timer and can't be macroed. Something on the lines of that would work, which would keep Jedi to not having to buy tons and tons, since that Jedi would get crystals themselves.

Yeah, whenever someone makes an auction on the Bria trade forums regarding crystals, someone immediately does a buyout lol

simple fix for this get rid of mobs dropping crystals (except krayt pearls ofcourse). Instead have some sort of serveying and harvesting technique for jedi to obtain crystals. I.E. the higher the concentration the more likely it is to be a higher quality of crystal, this being said only one crystal can be obtained from the deposit. After which the deposit when trying to harvest will say u have already harvested everything here, or it simply vanishes for that player. What do u guys think ?

yeah, premiums seem to go for about 5-6mil each now, sure i have enough credits to buy a few of these, but with the current tuning system i'm not spending 5mil on something that will no doubt end up at 20 -3 or some crap.
just the other day i bought 4 clear crystals, all good of a friend for 100k each, he threw in some colour crystals for free. I ended up destroying 3 of them with completly unusable tunes, and the fourth came out with something like 21 -6. On the plus side he did throw in some free colour crystals, Dark purple in my one handed just looks cool, was the best crystal out of the lot, lol

Its for this reason alone that I can't figure why people buy crystals at these prices. Tuning is far too random to be paying this kinda credits.

The prices will not go down as long as the consumers are paying for them. What NEEDS to happen is the crystals should be something that is not looted by just anyone. Maybe there should be an instanced cave where only those who have reached the rank of initiate are allowed to enter. In this area, the MOBs drop all types of crystals with the colors, poors, and fairs being the most common and the selects and premiums being the rarest. Pearls can stay the same, but the crystals are driving us non-bilionairesto the poor-house.
for gods sakes, please no more cave suggestions....all the ones we got now are either camped to no end or bugged to hell.
How about actually READING the post before flaming it, hotshot. Instanced means no camping since the player and those he takes with him are the only ones there. The vette is an example of and instanced dungeon.

i took my Swordsman ALT on a NS hunt a few days ago, i looted a 3 in a buff run, got my Jedi to read em, 1 fair (tuned it to 20/20 -1) so i deceided to read the others. Both Quality, coool. so i decide not to tune em and have an experiment on the auctions.

i was totally amazed(happy) at what these are selling for. i was gonna place a 300k buyout on both but thought hey if i only get 250k each that aint a bad 3 hours work.
As for tuning, my worst tune so fair is a good crystal -2/-2 damage and 0 FC
but i did tune a 1200 fair crystal to +49/+49 and -2 FC. which i was pleased with
i took the 3 fairs in trade for a suit of comp armor.
I read a post once about Jedi should be able to go to cave's and extract they're own crystals that only they can use. but limit us to like 4 attempts to extract per 7 days or so.. which would halve the price on crystals over night. since the group nerf and we are force to hunt alone, i have no income i cant afford to buy crystals any longer. i have to loot my own. Certainly cant afford a premium or flawless. Give jedi's level 99 missions and let us hunt with a pet so we can have an income and maybe we can afford these stupid prices....

I would go for the surveying idea. I and just about all Jedi are tired of the current tuning system.

Yeah something needs to be done. Yesterday we looted 1 good and 1 quality crystalfor 3 hrs of hunting. Both tuned to crap and were deleted. Keep in mind I keep anything that could be used for grinding....-3, -1 fc is utter crap. IMO the best tuning you can get are from pearls (prem). Right now a flawless goes for 10-15mill and a preme for 7mill+. This is getting out of hand. I realize it's because a lot of Jedi are coming into the system and just dont realize the randomness but I feel some people are going to have a very hard time getting a PvP saber in the current system. I used to think it was an option to go Krayt Hunting to get my pearls but that is really not feasible.
Case in point, I went Krayt Hunting yesterday. Found a spawn of Canyon & juv Krayt together, first time I've seen a Krayt out there in 3 days. OMG, it was like locust. I'm not joking but 10 people within a matter of mins show up. 3 Jedi looking for pearls and some claiming they want tissue (I bet pearls as they are worth $$ right now). Now we all grouped but in the end out of like 6 spawns, one pearl lol. Needless to say I didn't get it. So saying we can just go Krayt hunting and loot our own now is impossible even if you have a group. It's near impossible when there are multiple guilds with there own Jedi out there trying to outdamage you for the loot rights. I don't blame them either, I know how important it is to have a low fc saber with at leat 450 damage.

To be honest its the same with ANY high end loot , not just pearls and crystals. Server economy is borked.
Having multiple accounts helps, my ranger/swords gets me 90% of my crystals and pearls - i have never paid for one.
Having helpful guild members help as well - we have one person who seems to spend most of his time collecting crystals to GIVE to guild jedi (all qualities too).

The purpose of the new LS/Crystal system wasn't to give jedi free access to crystals. It was to resolve the issue where crystals were required in order to construct a saber which was prevent a Jedi from grinding up in the skills tree. They have fixed this now, crystals are no longer required, and while it would totally suck to grind with no cyrstals at all, it is at least possible. not to mention you should easily be able to pick up a bunch of crappy crystals which are better than nothing to put in your saber.
The problem you are percieving is that you can't get good crystals, well... I dont' get free krayt tissues either, they're the same thing, both are enhancements to a weapon. Learn to deal with it, it's not gonna change anytime soon. The problem is most people look at crystals as though it is something that should be given to them, as part of jedi. IT IS NOT. They are a looted enhancement like anything else, you should treat them as such. You get no freebies, you do not deserve any crystal much less perfect crystals. You need to earn them. go out and do something with your Jedi or your alt in order to hunt them or earn enough credits to buy them.
And as far as the tunning, it's not totally random. Anyone who says such is lying. Premiums/flawless tune significantly better than any other cyrstals/pearls 90% of the time. Yes there is a randomness to any quality but you have a significantly improved chance on premiums and flawless. I can see how people would think it's totally random if you have never invested the time/money in order to get a premium as they do appear to be fairly random on anything below those two qualities. And no just because you have a premium does not mean that you deserve a perfect tune. There is still a random mod in the tuning process, but your chances are significantly higher that it will tune well. I have not tuned a premium yet that has been totally worthless, and some have been better than others but all have had at least 40/40, -7 so far. Even got a 50/50, -8.
so instead of spending your time whining and complaining in the forums why dont' you go out and spend your time getting decent quality crystals, because frankly I'm tired of hearing all the whining when 60% of the time the statements made are totally and completely misrepresenting the current system. If you get cheap poor quality crystals then you will get cheap poor quality tunes, that's just the way it works. And while I agree that "Quality" crystals should tune slightly better than they do, the premium and flawless pearls are in sync with where they should be.
