Thread: Tuesday Tips October 25th Aborting a Hyperspace Jump
LOSING YOUR CURSOR on your screen? If you're like me, your screen can be quite cluttered and I have a hard time finding my cursor sometimes.
This tip works for Windows XP users. I'm not sure if other versions of windows have the same options and its possible that this is only available to logitech mouse users, but I believe this is a built in WinXP option.
- Open your control panel by clicking START then CONTROL PANEL.
- If you're using the classic view, justopen the icon labeled MOUSE. If you're using the category view, open PRINTERS AND OTHER HARDWARE, then open MOUSE.
- In the new window, click the POINTER OPTIONS tab at the top. At the bottom of this window, there is an option to SHOW LOCATION OF POINTER WHEN I PRESS THE CTRL KEY. Check this option and click the OK button.
Now in game, when you want to see just where your mouse cursor is, press the controlkey. There will be a quick shrinking circle animation around your cursor which does NOTeffect in game mechanics that I've found in any way and is VERY helpful in emergency situations.

Tip for all the people checking out the Squad Leader prof after our revamp who haven't made it to the SL board. Sick of the default shouts? You can change them to anything you want using the /setcommand
/setcommandname message
Example: /setcavolleyfire Cocked, Locked, and Ready to Rock! = will set your /VolleyFire shout to "Cocked, Locked, and Ready to Rock!"

You can also just use /abort
Er, or you used to be able to anyhow.
Yeah, about half my shouts are colorized. Seems to work fine for me, but I have heard of people having problems with it.

Hey Loki - have you tried colorizing vollyfire again yet?
Taking clean screenshots:
Turn grapphics up ALL the way. (duh)
press the alt key to give the recticle icon generall used in firstperson view...
CTRL+SHIFT+H
This will remove the GUI and prevent it from drawing. You will be able to roam and issue commands that are in your tool bar although you will not be able to type anything until you revert back. Although, you can type a command in the field then press the CTRL+SHFT+H and hit enter afterwards to display your spatial emote.
See my sig for an example.

Colorizing the vocals still works.
You can set both primary and secondary color at once, and preview how they look together before you commit.
Just buy two starship paint kits. Open your ship's "manage" window from your datapad or a space terminal. Do "set primary color" on the first paint kit and "set secondary color" on the second, and pick your ship for each one. Two palette windows will open, and you can preview the color from each one in your ship's manage window.
When you've picked your colors, you can accept both and save the two half-full paint kits for the next ship. Or you can accept the first, note the color you've picked in the second, cancel the second, and set it with the first, leaving you one fully charged paint kit.
Then on a lark, I decided to match the screen resolution in game to the same screen resolution (and nearly identical refresh rate) and my game now loads up with ease.

To save even more time, I noticed when you hit the Alt key, it automatically centers your mouse to the center of the screen in SWG. So if yo uneed to find your mouse, just double tap Alt, switching to the other cursor form and back, and your mouse is centered. A lot easier than going in and messing with Cursors options, just double tap alt.

Here's a tip for color-customizing a ship, vehicle or droid -- though I've only actually done it on ships.

That's a great tip!
I discovered that one myself, but I never think to offer up suggestions like that here.
*Searches brain for something useful to say*
Dratz!!
Anyway, good job and I definitely can vouch for that tip... especially if you're an indecisive style freak like me.

Ejecting from starship
if you want to bind a key for escape pod on your joystick or keyboard:
Create a macro with the following command:
/escapePod yes
The macro then can be binded on any key (for example red emergency button on 'Saitek X45' joystick).
