Now if they would only fix the bug that causes items to lose their stats this would be great.

You mean while you are searching for things?

We discussed that yesterday. The team is looking at it, but it might be tricky to track down. For instance, over the weekend, I couldn't get any stats to come up, but last night, everything worked ok.

If anyone has reproducible steps to make the stats not appear while browsing the bazaar or vendor, please PM me with the information.

This is actually a simple problem, vendors that have either not been attended to or updated since the CU, all pre CU items listed onthe vendor will not have anything show up in the stats window, also would explain the trickyness in code tracking this due to its a problem lieing in old code, which Q/A probably isnt looking through.

There is a great waypoint feature though. On the main window, you can click the button that sayd "Create Waypoint" so you can find the vendor

Yep that's right.

it's not just the pre-CU vendors. all my vendors have been newly placed about 2 months ago, and i've had complaints that people can't see the stats/picture of my clothing and my resources i have for sale.

Please don't leave out the possibility, that the problem may be occuring when the item is put up for sale (for the salesman, not the buyer). Just a note.

That's why I picked this tip. I so rarely see people getting the most out of this great search feature.

I have mostly been searching for resources, so I know the ones I am having problems getting data from on the vendor are the ones that don't have the information in the name. It says "Steel" instead of "Steel (Ebapi) 10000" which was from the vendor bug a while back. Thoes are the only ones that give me problems.

On a side note, it would sure be nice to have the keyword and price search on the vendors themselves. Even having just the keyword search would be a great help.

Thanks,

TH You should read the Merchant forums!

There are several threads in the Merchant Forums about this bug. (which has been effecting us for months now)

I myself am a Master Merchant, and this bug is damaging to my business as well as others. In my experience I have NEVER seen the stats for items come back once they are lost unless I remove the items from my vendor and place them in my inventory (NOT THE STOCKROOM). Then I have to relist the items (from personal inventory) to get the stats back.

You may have noticed that it worked again (from a customer standpoint) because the merchant vendor you were looking at had to do this processes to relist his/her items again.

Once the stats are lost I have NEVER seen them come back unless I relist the items.

As far as how to reproduce it... it is a mystery to me. I have items that I have listed for the entire timespan that will maintain thier stats. Other items may lose their stats the next day. This bug seems to be a hit and miss when effecting items.

A couple Threads about this bug: (These are both currently on the front page)

vendor search has made the advertising line in merchant obsolete. Wish they would reduce the skill point requirements of merchant to more accurately reflect the utility of the profession.

Why is it that some times when doing a vendor search some items description doesn't load? Generally when this happens its all from the same vendor where none of there stuff will load.

Except for the fact that so many people don't know how to even use vendor search (hence today's tip), so registering on the map is still a big boost to business. In a perfect market, you'd be right, but this one is far from that.

then simply use the categories in the left-hand box to search for whatever it is you want!

How about a tip on using the Text Search box in the bazaar. There are a huge number of categories and it take very long time to find what category something is in. I would enter the exact text of an item and it never finds that item on the vender bazaars.

It's a bug that was introduced when the CU was published. EVERY LISTED ITEM lost it's stat display.
In order to bring it back, the merchant had to take each and every item OFF of the vendor and sell it to it again.

Many have never bothered to take the items out into their inventory and re-sell them since it hit, and also I've noticed it hitting a number of my items randomly in the past week or so(so I'm thinking Publish 23 or some recent hotfix is to blame).

Back then the Devs just said to take every item off the vendor and sell it again(we're talking near 4000 items in some cases, and you can only sell and relist1 item at a time).

Don't know why they don't just suggest that now. It'd fix the problem, and once again they wouldn't have to fix it.

We chose this tip from miraljz because its a really great search feature.

Vendor Search - Find anything and everything you want!

by: miraljz

To find anything and everything you want to price, locate, or buy in the entire galaxy, instead of spamming in front of the starport WHERE CAN I BUY A SWOOP 4000 times a minute, do this:

Go to any bazaar terminal. If you can't find one, type /find terminal:bazaar and it will create a waypoint and a yellow ribbon leading you right to it. Select Browse Market from the bazaar terminal. In the top row of tabs, select the Vendor Search option. Next, check the This Planet, or Entire Galaxy box (whichever you prefer), then simply use the categories in the left-hand box to search for whatever it is you want!

Do you have a useful tip that you want to share with your fellow Star Wars Galaxies players? E-mail it to SWGTips and if we select the tip we'll post it as the Tuesday Tip and give you the credit! Send us the character name and server you'd like us to include if we post the tip.

Check out last week's tips

I believe the vendor search option essentially hurts merchants. People always search for the lowest priced item for what they are looking for. This hurts most merchants because some people cant sell at that low price. I think if you removed the price from vendor searches it would make it fair for all. Make the customer travel to find the lowest price, not just sit in one spot tofind it...

..and no, I'm not a merchant, but I know allot of them that don't like this vendor search thing...
