Thread: Tuesday Tips September 14th Vendor Search Find anything and everything you want!
Oh I am a big fan of the /find command....
However, I tend to have trouble with the/find terminal:bazaar command working for me - it has told me there are no bazaar terminals in a starport area, when there are (I think the Rori Rebel Outpost was one but am not logged in to verify)

Doing this in the default bazaar tib will only search the galaxy wide bazaars. 90% crap on them in my experiences, so if you really need something use the Vendor Location tab and use the search there.

Now if they would only fix the bug that causes items to lose their stats this would be great. You mean while you are searching for things?
We discussed that yesterday. The team is looking at it, but it might be tricky to track down. For instance, over the weekend, I couldn't get any stats to come up, but last night, everything worked ok.
If anyone has reproducible steps to make the stats not appear while browsing the bazaar or vendor, please PM me with the information.
TH You should read the Merchant forums!
There are several threads in the Merchant Forums about this bug. (which has been effecting us for months now)
I myself am a Master Merchant, and this bug is damaging to my business as well as others. In my experience I have NEVER seen the stats for items come back once they are lost unless I remove the items from my vendor and place them in my inventory (NOT THE STOCKROOM). Then I have to relist the items (from personal inventory) to get the stats back.
You may have noticed that it worked again (from a customer standpoint) because the merchant vendor you were looking at had to do this processes to relist his/her items again.
Once the stats are lost I have NEVER seen them come back unless I relist the items.
As far as how to reproduce it... it is a mystery to me. I have items that I have listed for the entire timespan that will maintain thier stats. Other items may lose their stats the next day. This bug seems to be a hit and miss when effecting items.

The default when placing a vendor is with vendor search enabled. If its not enabled then that means the owner didnt want anyone to see the vendor. I do this for storage vendors and vendors i use to sell to friends only.

I keep swearing I am going to start a search service where people pay me to search.
Vendor search tips:
If looking for food or anythign else normally sold in crates - you will need to go to Misc > Factory Crates. For awhile I though they made the crates show up under the item categories but now they are back to only appearing under Factory Crates.
When searching for things like armor, that are sold in backpacks a lot, go to Misc > Wearable Containers and do a search on the a word like Recon or the type of armor you are looking for.
When searching for things like resources, put it a top price range lower than 99999999 -- that way you eliminate all the stuff on people's storage vendors.
If you are searching and find things priced for 99999999 NO IT ISN'T FOR SALE.
And last but not least, do remember not every vendor shows up on vendor search. For some strange reason, some people don't turn the option on for their vendors
Unforunately I turned it off on my storage vendors too but I still see them in vendor search
regarding the lack of info on bazaar listings:
pretty much anytime i search on vendors or on the bazaar, multiple examples of any catagory fail to load their discriptions. this also occurs on individual private vendors. i have found no workaround for this.
QFE. Please give us the option to search for ship parts by cert and RE level. Also, I am tired of peopleregistering their storage vendors on the vendor search.

3. Instead of naming ship parts, have them listed under lvl of the component. There are just far too many named loot items to know what they all are w/o searching for a long time.

Go to any bazaar terminal. If you can't find one, type /find terminal:bazaar and it will create a waypoint and a yellow ribbon leading you right to it. Select Browse Market from the bazaar terminal. In the top row of tabs, select the Vendor Search option. Next, check the This Planet, or Entire Galaxy box (whichever you prefer), then simply use the categories in the left-hand box to search for whatever it is you want!

That's the same thing i do. all my vendors in our town's Mall have vendor search enabled. i then have a "Special Order Pickup" vendor in my personal house. if someone orders a custom job, i'll put their order on that vendor in a backpack with their name on it, and email them that wayponit. that lessens to possiblity of someone coming by and grabbing someone else's order.
IMHO: Bazaar item categories need huge rework.
- There are categories that are not used.
- Some items are under wrong category (for example ship deeds are under misc category)
- Some categories should be removed (for example misc-generic item category)
TH, the whole vender UI needs revamped majorly, especially the put items for sale / restocking UI.
Restocking thousands of items individually creates carple tunnel and is just aplainbad design over all.
