Thread: DEVS: AFK Macro loops need to GO!

removing /loot is one of the stupidest ideas put forth here. and that's saying a lot.
how about this: let ppl play the way the devs designed the game, and play your own game and don't worry about what someone else is doing.
bunch of wanna be macro nazi's
i hereby invoke godwin!
I'll let you slide because you dont know my background with the SWG macro system, or my relationship with the devs. Lets just say yourcommentary shows 2 things... you're completely the kind of macro looting/combat grinder that has created the issue, and you have a lot to loose from these kinds of changes. I know a whole hoard of your kind of player that would react just as you did.
They make great game money macro looting, and combat looting. If these macro changes are made, these kinds of players aregoing to shout at the top of their lungs like a bunch of spoiled children that have been grounded for eating more then their share. You call everyone else complaining about the recursive macros a bunch of Nazis, but you are supremely ignorant of the damage AFK looters cause to the economy, and even the "morality" of robbing other players their fair share of the loot.
These kinds of players can take a nice big jump off the AFK clift! They're a bane to the game.
Thats alot commingfrom an ex exploit creator/writer! Take it and like it.
I'll bet you're even using a macro I created. Dont think you have a clue who you're talking to. I know the SWG macro system like the back of my hand... I know how to resolve much of what ails it.
The question is... SHOULD we change it.
If its determined that a change is needed, I can promise you, these are the best possible solutions.

lets see, been here since launch, ch, pistol, rifle, bh, now jed...
i have macros for everything. at least 20 or 30 bound ot various ctrl keys. i do nothing really but hunt and kill, and i love my macros.
as to who you are and how you lick the devs, i really don't care. you are just another dweeb posting to the forums.
there is a concerted effort by about 5-10 macro nazi's to post this crap all over the forums to try to get support. well, no. go away. the ability to program the game is one of the best things we have. go play, let others play as they will, and stop the wanking.

I think its you that is supremely blind regarding what I'm posting. You dont seem to understand that the macro system is being altered constantly and I can assure you that a very serious look at the macro system is being taken. This is a legitimate arguement, and is being genuinely considered. If you want to keep your macro system as is, you better start making reasonable and sensible arguments as to why... because your recent babble wont change the train from comming.
My intent is not to take away recursive macros. My intent is to allow it while resolving the issues that have caused the stir. I can tell you its alot more then 5 people that feel this way. The worste of the bunch are the entertainers, I believe they ask too much to apease too few. I'm not that extreme.
I'm trying to find a reasonable solution.
You might try being more reasonable also.
Relax mate. Noone has said a word about removing macros entirely. Read what you are replying to properly.
We simply want to get rid of the looping (cycling/repeating/never-ending) macros.
Go back and read what you just replied to, and don't tell people to stop complaining until you are certain that they don't have valid concerns.
They made it really hard to afk sample, the same could be done for entertainers. A box pops up basically saying "you've been entertaining for a time, do you want to continue or take a break" If the box stays up then they earn no xp until it goes away.
True you can have a stop and start in your macro, but then you are going to lower your xp because the box appears at random.

Why not give the Vendors, at a low skill level, the ability to have a small signal next to their overhead name that denotes they are a Vendor or have an advertisement.
Give the "Vendor Flag" tab in the radial menu to chose to see what they have to say about their items and loots, etc.
I've seen that many vendors already have been doing this by creating an item and naming the item "Come look at my items".
Give the same options to the "Flag" as vendors have with the different signs they place outside their establishments (i.e. Colored text).
At high skill levels they could gain the ability to hand out a business card via email as described in the other replies above here.
Although I think that the email would have to be a auto reaction from a player requesting the business card.
I know I would not want every vendor in the galaxysendingmespam emails by the boat load.
As far as the spam of "LOOKING FOR GROUP!!" ...I think we all have see the Mining Outpost on Dantooine....need I say more.
What the heck, has nobody notice that you can toggle "LFG" or that the 50-75 of those people spamming... could have grouped together instead of standing there like idiots.
I guess macros are like the force...they should be used in moderation.. to use in excess can lead to the dark side it will.
Exactly its not good to take away macro looping but its not good to macro loop every chance you get, i only have one macro and its for advertising my friends city, weve gone through about 8-9 city halls so far because many noobs dont really kno what a delclare residence button is lol
Sorry, if you get rid of the /macro command, you are asking to get rid of recursive macros altogether. 5 minute long macros only encourage the use of 3rd party macro programs which will simply rerun the macro for them automatically.
Trust me. The options I've listed are the only way.
THats because the devs, in their wisdom, have not made a spot for idea generation or problem solving.

i have a questin why is this thred in the game guides section?!? and also why complain and make new sidetracks for the devs to fix and slowly decay the entire game system while the main problems are pushed under the rug for 2 or three publishes, stop trying to change the game so ur at the highest advantage
