Thread: Star Wars Names: The Name Doctor is IN!

All right Riis, not sure if you'd consider this 'hard'- actually, you probably wouldn't at all, you seem to know this stuff like the back of your hand- but...
Bror Jace! Where's s/he come from and who is s/he? Nyahh!
X-Wing series. Thyferran who was Corran Horn's chief rival, and died, and returned from the dead...so to speak. Darn good pilot and great conversationalist (at least in his own mind).

Very interesting thread....
I'll toss my name into the mix.
Caden Basteal
Imperial Human Weaponcrafter
It's nice to see that some other people actually put some thought into their names rather than just allowing the random generator to pick one for them.
I spent the better part of a day coming up with my name. Originally, I chose something slightly different with a more obvious celtic feel, but after further consideration I decided upon the name I have now.
Page 14 names....And to think at one point I was caught up. Oh the humanity.
There's 30 names on page 14, and I have done 17 of them, so while you all get a little personal attention, I won't dawdle on some of these.
Daroth Nightshade
Daroth, has the honor of being in the ancient lineage of "Dxxxoth" names, who's numbers in the Fantasy and Sci-Fi world are legion. You can't really go wrong with those names, as long as you are careful not to copy too closely an existing one. Nightshade is a good human last name.
Taleena Lockhart
Sounds likethe next pop singer sensation on Coruscant! Or maybe that is me. I see noreal problems with the name. ![]()
Talchi
Very Eastern, or maybe very Romance, but yet for a Rodian very appropriate. I like it.
Siduri Alighieri
And how does Dante feel about his last name being slung around the Star Wars universe? Ok, ok, very, VERY few people would catch that, but it distracts me...Siduri is of course an ancient name from Mesopotamia, but I was amused to find via Google some other, more modern lineages with the name. For whatever reason, this name shows an eclectic mind at work, but maybe a little TOO clever for your own good. ![]()
Eakak
A very....forward name. Say it a few times and see if you don't spit a little. I like it. Maybe a last name to suit?
Nerfin Destroyer
You asked and received. This is a name best suited for when Holocron makes an avatar and rampages about the galaxies.

Zipp Longshot
Well. This is a fun nickname series, and I would be vastly entertained how this person acquired such a nickname. There are no problems with it.
Psquire Farstrider
I've seen you around, and have been meaning to ask how to pronounce your first name. I assume you pronounce it how you see it. Have you considered a more phonetic spelling to avoid the "squire" word in the name? That would be my only suggestion. The last name is fine, and likely name generated
.
Wookie
And your best friends would be "Humen, Zabrack, Rodien, and Twy'lek?" A suggestion would be to spell check your species before taking the name of it.
Druuk
Originally, I thought the word was "Drunk" which would have gotten a very different review from me. Instead, I can say, 'Good Trandoshan name!' and wonder what your real name is...
Daynk Mohda
The first name is fun to say. And the name phrase seems vaguely, well, interesting. I pass this name.
Meethos Khaless
Ah a Klingon. That is my first reaction to this name, as Methos means little to me, but Kahless (different spelling) is a famous Klingon baddie from Star Trek fame. I see you took your names, though, from two different genres, and Methos is quite famous in his genre. As I have stated before, borrowing from another genre is a no-no if it pulls away from being "in" the Star Wars universe. A simple solution is to vowel drift or in this case consonant drift around a bit while keeping the basic sound and theme.
Taeghas
I know I have seen this name in some fantasy setting before. Again, see above, but you probably are safer with me than other names. Still, if you are going to use another genre's name, shift around the letters to make it your own.
Erack Gybsahn
Eric Gibson? If this is your name, you did a credible job hiding it. If this is a fanous person in which I am not familiar, you still did a credible job.
Fios Laidir
"Gaelic, the language that won't die; Gaelic, the language that is risen from the grave." From an old poem I wrote. At any rate, you chose a pretty name, but it is readily recognizable as a Celtic rooted name, which can be distracting to some.I think you will do fine with this name in the long run.
Leviathan
Great book. Less than stellar name. Hobbes intended the word to be used in a specific way, and unfortunately, our culture took it another way. At any rate, I think it is not terrible, but it could use some work. Maybe a last name will make it a little more quirky: Leviathan Jines. Leviathan Smath. Something like that. Then it becomes more nicknamey.
Jiszoe Shay'dha
My last name for this morning, and have to say it looks fine from here. It's Bothan enough, and I don't see any major blunders in the writing. It's a little forced in the pronounciation, meaning it could flow better, but really it is a very servicable name.
We'll be working on more names during my lunch break, so hang in there. I hope to review through the rest of the Page 14 names by tonight.

Heh, nope I actually came up with the Farstrider name myself on account of starting out as a novice scout planning to explore the entire galaxy on foot
. I've actually kinda regretted that since though because I've seen dozens of other {variable}strider names around (I prefer uniqueness, and didn't intentionally rip off Aragorn's nickname, coulda just used Longshanks). Anyway, with all the*striders itmakes me wonder if we're all from the same family tree??
I actually pronounce it with 2 sylables (the P is not silent) "P" + "squire". It's actually a name I concocted as a kid. I'd always sign my name with an Esq. at the end to look cool (which didn't work
)and my last name starts with a P, so what with my horrible penmenship and all it eventually blurred into P...squire. I like the handle and have been using it ever since. Was just hoping it wasn't too real-worldish sounding. Perhaps something like Psqwire might suit? But enough etymology about me, thanks for doing this.

Ooo, I wanna try...
Eve Stratafyre... oh wait... it's in my sig, Heheh.
Eitherway, I'd like to know if mine fits or not ![]()

Thanks I wasn't sure about it. As for my real name just take off the K and spell it differently ![]()

All this being said is just a long-winded excuse to explain why I am posting but not reviewing more names.
I have noticed a number of folks who are posting for the first time in the Star Wars Galaxies forum in this thread. You have no idea how good this makes me feel. More than any words that can be said about the quality of this thread, the simple fact that so many folks have taken the time to read, understand the point of, and post in this thread makes my day...every day. And when this is the first time you have chosen to post in these forums, it speaks volumes to me about your opinion of this thread.
As you may have guessed, my skill set is a little mismatched with my profession (which is why I hope for SOE to hire me
So as long as you keep posting names, I vow to keep reviewing them.
Your Name Doctor,
