Thread: Star Wars Names: The Name Doctor is IN!
I'm a bad, bad little Bothan. I stole my (first) name from the excellent Sholan Alliance book series by Lisanne Norman... Jiszoe was a relatively minor (okay, she had like, 2 lines) in the books, but I loved the name. I would just say it to myself over and over, when I was bored, say, and sorta revel in the sound. Jiszoe. Jiszoe Jiszoe Jiszoe Jiszoe. Heeheehee. Yes, it's weird, but then I am a very weird person.
Yeah, the pronunciation is a lil' weird sometimes. I've been nicknamed Jiz-o by one of my entertainer friends, which isn't too bad, butit'sespecially annoying when one particular friend of mine refers to me as"**edit**". -_-And when I restarted the char, I had to choose a new name so now it's Jis'zoe... even nastier for tells. x.x
After that little...confession...from Jiszoe...I give you the other 13 names from page 14.
Nebau Eave
I see no problems with this name, even ifthe last name describes a part of a building.
Icei Alei
I like this name more, I suppose, than the first one. What I like is how we have to pay attention to it, and you can feel your mouth pronouncing the words, so we'll call this one euphonious. I especially like the cold sound of the first name. ![]()
Den'o Erth
This name strikes me as familiar. It doesn't follow the classical Twi'lek naming scheme with the apostrophed last name, but a little **edit** and tuck should fix that fine: E'rth, Er'th, or get crazy and extend it: Er'thed, Er'thol, etc.
Dur'faroth
Ok, confession time. I try to shoot from the hip with every name and not consult google, or my books, or what have you, but with this one I got a little paranoid and checked around. Didn't find anything except maybe your character in other genres. So you succeeded in a fundamental thrust of many Star Wars names: be familiar, yet unfamiliar. I would love to see you use this as a last name and come up with a short, but sweet first name. I thought ofa couple for you: Sast, Vram, Dist.
Nillaré
With the Nabooan precedents of the movies, I would go ahead and be from there or from a sister culture to Naboo and call it good. So the general feeling I get is from those more soft, rounded Nabooan buildings rather than the sophisitcatedharshness of Kuat that my name (Riis bal-Tannis) would represent.
Gumbar
Indeed, where are the Rodians? Here's one right here by the name. And the name also makes me want to drop a quarter in the slot next time I go to the store and chew and chew and chew.
Tav Descro
Youpicked an excellent name. I love the sound of Tav (and not necessarily the Hebrew meaning of it) and have always thought it would be a good name. Descro sounds quite nice. Vaguely sinister.
Nynavae Zenova
The first name I think has come up before. It's a good name and I can always recommend it. Zenova is nice and Star Warsy, in addition to being the first name of a popular cult movie figure, but for some reason I feel the first and last name are a little mismatched in tone. I think in this case it's just me and I wouldn't worry if I were you.
Theeda Janqua
Theeda is from Theed? Or just a strange and wonderful coincidence? At any rate, taking the name of amajor city is no crime in any galaxy. Janqua is agood solid last name...you and your husband madegood choices.
Morannan Lightbringer
Ah, ol' Lucifer pops up. Well,Morannan is the Black Gate of Mordor, and Lightbringer has a vaguely sinister meaning nowadays, so yourfriend picked a realdowner of a name. I really would like tokeep Tolkien and Star Wars a crowbar's distance apart, and this isspeaking as a Tolkienfanatic. The Lightbringer is a fine construction Star Wars-wise, but it conjures up images that arequitejarring from the shared fantasy of Star Wars. My advice: First namemust go, Last nameneeds work.
Ornadwe
A good name, which I would use as a last name. Make a three or four letter first name and you are golden.
Chazz
Interesting name. It's a variant of Charles, of course, and I am never one to put down a Charles, so I'd say keep it. OH! You mean for Star Wars...well, it works there as well.
Darkeel Sindritari
I looked at this name and thought "Dark-eel" as well, but thems the breaks. You did fine with the name...the last one is a little Italian, but mixed with some other sounds that makes it very fun to say. I therefore suggest a little modification of the first and last names, but not a huge amount, because the whole works.
No red names this time.

how about mine Azahi server -- novice artisan
Choobeccachew ?
go ahead hit me with your best shot.
Well... I want to participate! I tried setting up my signature, but I don't know if it just works automatically or what... so here goes.
Mavra Lightstar, Musician/Bounty Hunter (Human):
I already know about Jack Chalker references, but I was looking more at the references to my birth certificate when making this one.
Fedo Efoh, Dancer/Image Designer (Twi'lek):
Randomly generated... it came up twice so I figured something wanted me to use it.
Ewesta-ethm Po'aka, Everything but brawler (Twi'lek):
Deleted, and replaced with Mavra, but I still want a review, please, if you get to it
Thanks! I'll keep looking for when you get to mine
Beginning with SOME of the Page 15 names. I will do ten.
Tyla d'Espoir
"Hope, it doth spring eternal." I am uncomfortable about blatantly French constructions, because we haven't seen them in the mainstream literature, so I would have to suggest you simply change it to "Espoir" and maybe mix it up: Espoor, Espoer, or some such. I hate to knock such a nice name, and it certainly is. It is simplynot Star Wars enough in my eyes. Tyla is a good name that works in many genres, like this one.
Adiemus
Well, I recognized the name from somewhere, so I took the liberty of hitting a google search and came across a dozen or so websites for the band (or musician, I didn't delve) with this name. Now, I am opposed to this from an immersiveness standpoint, no matter if the name sounds nice or not. Perhaps some shifts in the spelling can maintain that meaning for you, yet spell differently for us?
Reid Brobec
And it works! You hit the nail on the head with this one, a quintessential Star Wars name with an inner-meaning.
LeXusValenTine
My red name for the thread, the cHicKen wRitTen names are strictly belonging to a sub-culture firmly rooted in our minds as a time and place outside Star Wars. As I have said before, any name that pulls us out of the fiction is not a good Star Wars name. The name itself (even without the chicken writing) could use a little work, though I see where you are headed with it...perhaps a few more tries with the same idea shall make it whole.
Kilian Li'Veda, Jov Li'Veda
The family that plays together stays together, of course. Both first names are fine: I have a male student named Killian, and didn't feel like your name was out of place at all. Jov is just a great idea for a first name. The last name is the weak point as a human name, as we would expect it on a Twi'lek, but you can easily come up with some fiction about the "Li'" particle meaning something (like homeworld identifier, patronymic marker, etc.).
Wen-Dal Darksky
Wendell, I would suggest not hiding the name.
In all seriousness, in this case the first name is a bit distracting, and I would suggest a rework. The last name is fine in construction, and makes me think of storms, which could be a great character development point!
Tharec
A good name. It's the perfect letter length and sound length for a one-name person on the go who's not concerned with his past.
Tiwo
I saw Tiwo on my Tivo. I like it! Say it is your last name, and your first is shrouded in mystery...or say it is a "Doranthian" or some such made-up planet name title for "The Protector" or "The Blacksmith" or something. You can do the most with the smallest names!
Van'Varakka
The apostrophe in this case is completely unnecessary! You should embrace your Wookieehood by eliminating such obstacles to the smooth pronounciation of your name! Vanvarakka would get my support for a great Wookiee name.

ill give it one more shot, then just enjoy your comments on everyone else
Evad Llahsram - Male Human Droid engineer
YEAH IM THE BAD KID IN THAT BUNCH...
no matter....i doubt they will change it.....not all that bad.....

Crenago Seipties
huhuhu i can't wait!
How about Woden Xezzon for a human marksman? I wanted just Woden, but when i made my character I thought humans were required to have two names, so I thought up Xezzon. I used z's to preventany allusion to Prince Xexor.
Ok, here's mine....
Raask Rintar- Trandoshan bounty hunter. Former space pirate and slave, he betrays his former comrades to the Imperials so he can start up his own hunting/pirating career.
