Thread: Star Wars Names: The Name Doctor is IN!
My name is S-Mule. Its pronounced S as in the Cornflake Especially, or Mos Espa, or the letter S and then Mule as in Donkey. I am a Human/Male gangsta and I am black with an afro. Going for smuggler.
Could you do a Riis' Star Wars Name quality sheet for me?(cuz I am special)
Thanks
OK, who's job was it to yell at me for not posting these responses this morning like I said I would? I had a fun night with the kids and slept in for a change before work (normally I get up 5 hours before work and do the sort of things people do in the evening).
I would like to thanks folks for the kind words about this thread and my efforts. Luckily for everyone, I really enjoy this sort of thing, and try to do this work with humor and compassion. It seems like I am succeeding!
Page 13 names.
Radeon Black
Well, right out of the gate we have my brand of video card. Whew. I did a quick google search and found a jazzy wallpaper to go along with the name. Well, you should guess by now I don't prefer names that pull us from the shared reality, and Radeon definitely pulls us out of "Star Wars real" and into "Real World real." I would advise you keep the last name, and completely revamp the first name. In this case, I think playing with the word Radeon won't do it. Better start over with it.
Jorgan Bradwisch
Well, the first Jorgan looks a lot better than the second.
Jorgan is a goodly name, working well as a familiar yet unfamiliar name. Of course, Bradwisch is a real name, with several different variant spellings (that I found), and the whole looks like it could be your next door neighbor's name. This is both good and bad, and could be made a little better by slightly modifying the last name: Bridwasch, Brodwusch, etc.
"Thermal Det"
I wonder about these names. I saw one named "Ikill" which I am sure was just the NPC name generator at work. At any rate, this is an example of an acquired nickname. Mommy Det didn't name her bouncing baby whatever "Thermal." We leave that to the commune folk.
Dyrwen Sy-X
I like the name Dyrwen. I think I've seen it before somewhere else, but that may just be me. The construction is ancient enough to hide some basic roots, but what I would like to focus on is the last name. It looks adventurous, but I don't think it's quite there. The Sy-X just doesn't look very Twi'lek, or indeed very in line with any known Star Wars species. Now the potential for nickname is here, but it looks more like an attempt to either do the number "six" or that band from Oregon.
Rorecros Daiau
Good name. Rorecros feels quite unique to me, andis pronouncable.I feel that the parents of this person werequite cruel though, as most folks with a difficult last name give their children simpler first names.
Daiau has the advantage of going nutswith the vowel shift: Deoea, Dueuo, etc. All in all, a good, ifcomplex name.
Ishpov
Good Calamari name. Not much to say, except it is fun to say when you sneak up behind someone: "ISHPOV!"
Kerjo Eatwar
Exactly how does one "eat war"? The last name is a bit well, distracting to me, and it makes me hungry as well, which is definitely immersion-breaking
. Kerjo feels like a good name. Quite musical, especially with a rolled "r." Work a bit with the last name, and it would be a real winner.
Ergmo Eatwar
While the intended pronounciation is "Erjmo," most folks will still think "Erg-mo." Now that being said, this name flows better with the last name, and is much better as you pronounce it.
Fisssk
Very good Trandoshan name, if a little heavy on the "s"...which I thought I would never say about one.
That being said, I would not think of changing a thing.
Natalya Jadys'varine
Natalya is uncommon enough not to be a huge distraction, so it is fine. Jadys'varine edges toward the other end of the spectrum. There is a bunch of other words in there that I feel like I should puzzle through. I don't detect another reference here, so I will assume you constructed it out of whole cloth. Perhaps a little bit more backstory (which is already intriguing) would help me understand your idea here.
Nalyah
Fine fine, Riis' Law and all of that. Short and sweet, and strangely similar to your other name. ![]()

Thanks for doing this, this is fun
Odogon Magira - human Teras Kasi Master/Medic
Well, i read about as many of the replies as I could in one sitting...I am very impressed.
In EQ, I put stock only in coming up with one name for my main, the rest are more jiberish words that just sounded like names and sounded good to me when they popped into my head.
I am not sure if that is the same thing that happened here or not, but I will let you look at it and see what you think.
Da'mage
Wookie App Swordsman
I know that the name is the result of an action, which is what I was shooting for, but would love to see what you come up with for it in the long run. I am not a big fan of surnames, which stems from a trait in my true life.
Oooh, do mine! Do mine!
