Alot of good idea's here. I hope we don't get disappointed! I'm somewhat worried about prices though! I will be disappointed that when i buy the expansion i'd have to collect a whole bunch of money before i can start exploring what the expansion holds! I have one character that's has a nice income but i don't have millions! I have like 500k credits now and will cry out loud if i have to wait and save money for a ship (or ship parts).

I'm not worried about the release date.. It will be here when it's done! (heheh i love this line!)

No way will SOE be able to make this 'walk around in ships.' Shoot if ya sit down, you still slide across the floor! Chances are you will load into a single player cockpit. Activate attack like you do now, and hit quickeys to fire lasers that will miss.

Disagree. It should be the character's skill. We don't use light guns when hunting or use CAD programs to build things, why should our character's flight capability be based on the player's ability to twitch a joystick?

If you want twitch play Rogue Squadron. This is an RPG, which means the charcters are the focal points.

Becasue it shows you just aren't some power gamer

space expansion should be twitch based, joystick compatable

what fun would it be to press tab, press follow and f8 or sumthing, and watch it shoot

spaceexpansion should be fun, like XvT/RS etc ,not a victim of weirdos thinking that it should be drone based and BORING.

Let some of the player skill come through, not the button pressing skill.

Oh yeh and as for pilot profession, integrate it into squad leader and give them flying/accuracy bonuses and moves such as 'burn engines' to make them go faster?? i really think this would be good inside a current vacant profession simply because there isnt enough to make an entire profession out of these skill bonuses!!!

This is all well and good saying this but isnt this the way the other classes work? The casual gamer doesnt progress much in galaxies...

The way I would see a Pilot class working is by using the following:

Your basic Pilot class would used to pilot small shuttlecraft. Then upon gaining xp from kills you would progress to a higher class whereby other ships would be available to you. There has to be something to aim for... With each level within the class you would be certified to fly a more complex ship requiring more 'skill' to pilot it.

I am gonna have a think about this and post something a bit more in depth later on.

Im notgoing to speculate too much on the pilot profession or piloting skills, because I dont know enough. I will say/guessthat I think every single person that has access to a basic ship will have inherent skills to fly/pilot very basicspace craft, just like no skills are required to ride a mount or pilot ground vehicles. Im only talking about basic space craft. Forbigger or more sophisticated ships you will need to spend skill points. Sure this sounds unrealistic but this is a game.

In a round about way Im saying there probably will be no skill requirements to pilot the very basic ships, however if there are skill point costs it will probably be very small for your basic ships. I guess we will see.

Regarding ship cost- I think theresource requirements and construction time should and hopefully will dictate price. There are some unreasonable vendors out there who will probably no doubtcharge outrageous prices but overall I think most vendors usually come to a indirect consensus on what to charge. For the ones that charge outrageous prices all I can say is shop elsewhere and survey as many vendors as you canto geta reasonable price. By vendor I do not mean the machine itself I mean the person(s) selling the ship.

I suspect those who have been playing long enough and those who havemanaged to save up enough credits will be rewarded. That may be an issue for those whohave never played SWGand just decided to pick up the expansion in hopes ofpiloting a ship right away. The only work around I can see there is that they may have to settle for a very basic ship to start out.But how much will a very basicrust bucket cost? It should be interesting to see howall this pans out- ships, outerspace, new planets, new professions, new weapons?,new theme parks, new critters etc......
