What about some of your "in-game common sense" tips?

For instance, I keep my bank safety deposit box at the starport that I travel through the most. Since I still travel through Coronet a lot, I keep my safety deposit box there because its handy to have close by.

I also park my extra ships at a central starport so I can always get to the quickly.

What do you do to streamline your game play?

I keep my ships in Theed. I go combatant from time to time sofeel like I've done something wrong and the imperials are after me. Then go there and launch and meet a squad in space. To bad I can never find anyone to do space with.

This is a tip? Should be a "Tuesday Stuff You Should Have Already Known"

I don't doubt it. For the community veterans, there is very little that I can share that is new to you.

There are, however, large numbers of people who read the forums that aren't as good as you folks.

If you have a great tip, please share it with the community - - we're all looking for a new edge!

Wait up a sec. PLEASE don't give the line "well the new players might not know about this". For THIS tip that line is lame as hell. Reason? Most "new players" are a product of your Idea of what "we" wanted. RoTW and the CU. This tip is because of the CU, before that we didn't have to worry about levels of other group members.

so TH, please fund another reason why this should be a "tip for the newer players"

**and for that matter, why should this be called "Tuesday tip" anymore if all your reasons behind posting them seem to be "for the new players" since vets seem to know these already? Call it the "if you just joined us info of the week" or "Noob Knowledge base" or something other than tips.

anyway.........

Whenever I'm out looting, I keep a backpack or satchel on me named "junk". As I loot things that I have no use for or have little value, I drop them in the "junk" satchel. Once my inventory maxes out, I can delete it all at once just by deleting the pack

Yes it does! And from what I can tell your bank safety deposit box is the bestest safest place to keep your stuff. My box is on Naboo and I drop good BH mission loot off in Kadaara and pick it up on my way home to Moenia when I'm done.

Correct --- You can access your safety deposit box at any bank terminal on the planet you are registereded on. That includes player cities as well as non-player cities.

It's a simple thing, but I always buy round-trip tickets from my home city when going to the starport city where I fly in and out of. This way, whenever I get back, I don't have to run into the starport terminal area to get a ticket; as soon as I land from my trip, I can turn to the ticket collector droid and shuttle back home quickly. To reduce lag, I also use the less-trafficked starports on a planet (Mos Espa instead of Mos Eisley, Kor Vella instead of Coronet, etc.) Since I have to shuttle anyway, my choice of starport doesn't matter much in terms of distance.

I keep the veteran reward deed for the Sorosuub Yacht on me at all times... if I then arrive at a starport that I don't have a ship, I can just create a new yacht, fly to my ship / destination fast, then delete it. Good for BHs that often have to travel across the map to get a target.

Useful Tip:

Ever get annoyed with having to use those strong-yet-silent Ticket Collector droids? I am lazy, and hate using them, so I made a Macro which contains the following:

/bo trans

...and then using the keymap, assigned that macro to F3. Whenever I need to board a shuttle, I just get my tickets, walk close to the shuttle and hit F3. I hate those droids!

Second Useful Tip:

Tired of double clicking on stuff, when you're crafting or just want to attack something? If you have a halfway-decent mouse, do the following:

1. Open up your mouse software (usually found in Control Panel in Windows).
2. Assign your middle-mouse button (scroll wheel usually) to perform a double-click when you press it in.
3. Enjoy your new found lack of RSI in your index finger!

Third Useful Tip:

OH NO! Windows is going horribly wrong, so I'll have to reinstall Windows and SWG. Nightmare! If, like me, you only have the original SWG Disc, this takes hours and hours and hours when you are downloading patches, even on a very fast line.

Why not just open up your favourite CD Burning program, and quickly burn a copy of all the .tre files in your C:\Program Files\StarWarsGalaxies folder, and then if and when you have to reinstall SWG, just copy those .tre files back in to your new SWG folder, and save a billion years of download time!

I'll try and think of more!

Nothing major, but I am an inventory neat freak. I keep my crates of 'stuff' hidden in my backpack. I put my backpack in the toolbar. You can then use the toolbar to open your backpack in a hurry (to grab stuff from the crates).

On a similar note, you can put stacks of consumable items in you backpack, and then in the toolbar (ie. food). If you use that from the toolbar, it will stay in you backpack (equpiable items will move into your main inventory when used). Basically, I put all of my consumables in my backpack so they are out fo the way, but I can still easily access them from the toolbar.

You can use your storage droids as extra capacity, but you can also pull items from them instantly.

Call your storage droid. Flip your toolbar to an unused toolbar pane. Then open up your storage droid and 'drag' the item you want to have quick access to into your toolbar. You can now store the droid.

When you need the item in inventory fast, you just click on the icon in the toolbar. The item is instantly transferred to your main inventory.

At least, this used to work pre-CU. I haven't needed it lately, so I haven't tried it lately.

Also, regarding the /logout command. I always use this command to log out, whether I am switching characters or exiting the game entirely. Why?

/logout *forces* a character save. If you're between 'save moments', which occur roughly every 30 minutes (at a guess), this causes the server to save your character's current state in toto, from inventory, to bank, to buffs, to xp, to skills, etc. It also apparently performs some back-end validation and clean-up checks that are not guaranteed to be applied on a simple disconnect, thus /logout also decreases your chances of being bugged into unplayability.

Finally, do not disconnect or logout in areas of high lag or high activity. When you log back in, the constant changing of information may make it difficult or even impossible to load into the game. The only workaround then is to log in at off-peak times, or praythat the lag clears up quickly.

good old standby i could never live without

create macro (CTRL-A) called BoTrans

in it put the command

/bo trans

now go into keymapping and bind that macro to a key (I have it has CTRL-B)..

now just hit that key and you can quickly get on the shuttle (after buying a ticket of course)..
