Each week, we start a thread for you to your share game tips with fellow players. Be sure to join in and add your helpful tip.

Do you have a little known command you use all the time?

A cool place to visit?

A trick (non-exploit) to getting more out of the game? Share it here.

Combat Levels in Groups

While in a group, the combat system effectively sets you at the same level as the highest member in the group. All bonuses based on the difference between the group level and the target level apply.

For example, if the combat levels of a group are: 61, 54, 45, and 80, every member of this group will be considered to be Combat Level 80 for the duration of the group. This does not make the maximum damage of weapons or abilities increase, but it makes everyone have similar level-based bonuses compared to the enemies that the group is fighting.

Do you have a useful tip that you want to share with your fellow Star Wars Galaxies players? E-mail it to SWGTips and if we select the tip we'll post it as the Tuesday Tip and give you the credit! Send us the character name and server you'd like us to include if we post the tip.

Check out last week's tips

I don't doubt it. For the community veterans, there is very little that I can share that is new to you.

There are, however, large numbers of people who read the forums that aren't as good as you folks.

If you have a great tip, please share it with the community - - we're all looking for a new edge!

This is good for new people. But the problem I find is that many new players to SWG aren't aware of the forums at all. It'd be nice if you could put mention of it in the game or something similar to introduce more people to the forums so that they'd be aware of the various guides and tips on the forums.
But yes very good tip today! Good job TH!

Yes, you should be studying for your test

Ok, how about this tip:

Whenever you are looking inside ofbackpacks within backpacks (or any type of container that you can carry), you can "jump up" to the next container without having to close the backpack and open your inventory again.

In the lower left hand side of your container window is the image of the container you have open. Just to the right of that picture is a little up arrow. if you click that up arrow, you can "jump up" to the next container window.

For many, this will be nothing new, i know. What makes me put this "tip" here, is a two-year veteran friend of mine that forgot aboutthis. He began using the shift+<esc> disconnect to switch between his characters and over time forgot about the /logout. It's the use of /logout in place of the other options, /quit, shift+<esc> disconnect. Using /logout takes 30 seconds...at which time if you are attacked, the logout is suspended and you can fight off the attacker. Use of /quit or disconnecting, leaves your character in the world you are on, vulnerable to attack with no way for you to defend yourself.

How about for the next Tuesday Tip you give us a "tip" on what SEAs are still broken/turned off. Or how about giving us on "tip" onwhat Poison/Disease/Fire/Bleeding ResistanceSEAs do, if anything, post CU. The best way you could generate interest in the Tuesday Tips posts is if you gave us info on things that players can't figure out on their own without either doing tons of testing or getting a Dev to give them the answer. I understand some of the tips have to be for newbs, but it would be nice if some of us veterans could get answers to questions that have been bothering us since the CU went live.

Thanks!

What about some of your "in-game common sense" tips?

For instance, I keep my bank safety deposit box at the starport that I travel through the most. Since I still travel through Coronet a lot, I keep my safety deposit box there because its handy to have close by.

I also park my extra ships at a central starport so I can always get to the quickly.

What do you do to streamline your game play?
