Thread: Christmas Gift from SOE
Although Warryyr and I disagree on some things I will have to agree with his line of thinking on the 75k. I have met lots of players who are playing SWG for the first time after buying JTL and had a hard time getting started. I bought more than my share of tier 3 ships for new guys because helping them progress and keep playing is good for all of us.

Check your e-mail people. TH, I kinda feel bad. You come out on the forums, say there isn't going to be a gift, and TADA!!!!!!!
TH from 12/18 - "Sorry, but there will be no "automatic" Christmas gift this year.
I do want to thank the events team for pulling all of the Life Day events together though."
MEANWHILE, I come home tonight and my e-mail account says SOE is giving 75k to each character per server.....
C'MON! A LITTLE BIT of communication would be nice!
THE 75K HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH CHRISTMAS.
It's only for JTL people who get JTL - so that they can actually BUYa new SHIP.
Look are your server's economy. Could a brand new player EVER afford a new ship (like a Tier 1 and 2) AND pay for all their repairs easily? The Devs decided to make the newbie ships have a hyperdrive, and they gave this to JTL folks only to offset the new players who get SWG and JTL, and say "Great, now I can't do anything, i have no money, and I just want to fly around in space."
Everyone needs to settle down a bit. Look forward to your presents in REAL life, not some digital entity that you'll just stuff in a house anyways. I mean, really - with all the loot junk from JTL and all the other stuff that's soon to come with the Loot Revamp, you're gonna need all the inventory you can get, anyways. Because the Devs refuse to give us more inventory, and instead we use up all our lots for houses (especially me, as a crafter).
The 75k has NOTHING to do with Christmas. It has EVERYTHING to do with new players getting JTL FOR Christmas, and not being able to repair their ships/buy new ships/function in our overinflated economies. Wouldn't THAT be a delightful Christmas present? A cool new game, looks great, but you can't even afford a CDEF pistol because you blew up in space too many times, while learning the ropes?
Maybe I don't understand what these two sentences mean, but it certainly READS that they are thanking me for a great year!!!!!!
I could care less about the 75k or a gift or whatnot. My main concern was the lack of communication between TH and the rest of the Development team/Marketing Team. This is NOT the first time TH has come on the boards saying one thing, and then days later it changes. It is a sign of miscommunication within SOE, and that frankly continues to trouble me with what direction we are going in.

Christmas making a come back --
I would like to think it will but in all honesty, I don't see it. People are boycotting retailors who refuse to use Merry Christmas, which I have been doing for years, but before things get better they will get worse.
Boycotting retailers who don't have the same beliefs as you or who don't celebrate the same way as you is a tad bit intolerant isn't it? That's not very Christian-like last time I checked. ![]()

It is not a question of belief but intollerance for others.
If a retailor is going to exploit the true meaning of Christmas to make sells, go ahead. I don't mind it, I encourage it. But when they use Christmas associated decor then slap on a Happy Holidays... Absolutely not. Especially when they used to use Christmas.
And it is Christian-like. I am not going to throw a brick through the window of the shop but I will refuse to shop there. I have just as much right to boycott as they do to white-out Christmas. Fighting for ones right in a peaceful manner is not only Christian-like but American like.
I am not one of those people who sit idly by and watch big business and the government diminish traditions I hold dear or manipulate the public. There may not be too many things I can do in my power but I do make use of the few things I can do and one of those things is being cautious of who I give my money to.
It is sad to see young children having to grow up in a world where all tradtions and celebrations must be slapped together to form some "holiday" with no meaning behind it as it demonstrates intollerance and promotes the belief that a muli-cultral society does not work.
Holiday is only acceptable at this time of year when it includes both Christmas AND Hannukah, in the least. Otherwise it is unacceptable.
And you'd be surprised to see who all agrees with that as many groups are boycotting this Christmas season and is in fact why retailors are not reaching their projected sells.

You complained too much, next year you get nothing. Hope you're satisfied. In the meantime.....
Happy hannukah, kwanzaa, ramadan, and a merry christmas to all!

You also probably believe in governmental social engineering.
Sales are off due to a bad economy. Not your boycot. That is awefully egotistical of you to believe you are having a significant impact on any company. It is simply not true.
Happy Holidays!
I mean, he gave UO a whole host of gifts, including the worst idea ever...neon clothing, so why can't he give SWG a bloody snowball or something
Even UO got xmas lights and xmas trees and such. Snowglobes. little statues and stuff.
So many little things we could get for the game. xmas tree deeds that're only usable at xmas, and lose all their baubles like the UO ones did, as the season drew to a close.

I was wondering if anyone here knows if this is the only gift that we get this year. I mean two of the things were out last year and then some get lucky and get one of the new paintings.
Well what if I got an orb but still got mine from last christmas. Would that be equal to getting coal in my stocking? Or will we log in christmas morning and have a present in our inventory. Last year we all got holos plus the wookiee life day gifts.
Not that anyone knows yet but rumors are alwyas something to think about when you have a long day of work to do yet...
