Retailors can not be sued for using Christmas.

Abercrombie and Fitch, Victorias Secret and Starbucks all are using Christmas... Reason I did most my shopping there.

It is a choice they are making. Any lawyer will tell you that business' can display Christmas.

In public schools students are suspended for wishing each other a Merry Christmas and even wearing red/green scarfs. Those schools also got sued for discrimination.

It is not discrimination to say Merry Christmas, Happy Hannukah, Happy Ramadan, Happy Kwanzaa... However it is discrimination to not say it or to ban others from saying it.

You also have no clue how this world works either. If Christians were always the ones boycotting and doing all these "radical" things to protect their rights then why is that Christians have the lease amount of rights when compared to X religion?

You also failed to fully comprehend my post which you are replying to. It is not Christmas I am crusading for but all celebrations. If America blurs all winter celebrations together into one big "holiday"... America looses it's tolerance and diversity. As by that time there will be no diversity.

Have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Hello? This is exactly why they have the disclaimer:

Please remain on topic for the Star Wars Galaxies forums, do not use these forums to discuss Politics or Religion

on the first page of the forums.

Aren't Buddha and the names of other deities filtered as well? I don't think it's just Christ.

If you are in the United States, our country was founded on many principles, not the least of which is 'freedom of religion.' Don't begrudge anyone that freedom. In the same regard, SOE is not obligated to celebrate anyone's preferred holiday in the fictional world we all inhabit. We get a Life Day gift. Say thank you and move on. No matter what holiday you celebrate (if any) it is certainly not about drama and arguing.

Your correct.. Life day isn't christmas day.
There isn't going to be Christmas in SWG this year but there is life day.

And before you ask here is a short list of other holidays you probably won't see in SWG any time soon or later either.

Presidents Day,
Columbus Day,
Easter,

Martin Luther King Day,

Arbor Day,

My Birthday,

Your Birthday,

Ramadan

Krishna's birthday.
Buddha's birthday.

Mothers Day

Fathers Day

Bastille Day.....None of which have a darn thing to do with Starwars.

No, they are not.

Trust me, it was the first thing I checked when I discovered Christ as filtered. I also went to other MMORPGs to check as well. Only SWG. Only Christ.

If you play on SS you will see Christmas.

My character runs around towns singing Christmas carols as she waits in line for buffs or is off killing things or flying around or doing Christmas shopping.

Her home also wishes everyone a Merry C.h.r.i.s.t.m.a.s. and her vehicle is decked out in Red/Green colors for Christmas as is her comp armor.

Eh... It's probably because it can be offensive to Christians. You know, the whole not using the Lord's name in vain thing? Isn't that a good reason?

You know, I actually think that Christmas is on the rise again. The red states win in the U.S. elections kind of verifies that.

I listen to a lot of talk radio during the day and now a days, all the hosts get mad in someone says happy holidays instead of Merry Christmas. Personally, I don't give a rodent's backside what someone says, as long as they are trying to be friendly to their fellow man.

As far as people forcing their religions on you, yeah, it happens, but unfortunately, most of the religions have that as part of being in the religion. Some have to get a quota of converts every so often. It's rediculous, but all you need to do is say no thank you, I worship Satan, or something like that. Usually, that gets rid of them. If not, bite the head off of a small woodland animal. So far, that has always worked for me.

It does come to my realization that atheists are getting really gung-ho about not letting people do anything religious around them. I don't get this. Why do they care? I don't care, as long as there is no poisoned cool-aid (or the like) involved in the religion. Human sacrifice seems pretty bad to me too. Atheists are fine, I guess that they think of themselves as the ultimate voice in what is right and just in this world, and that's just fine. As a matter of fact I think right along those lines myself, but I call it Meglomania. At least I will admit to it.

Now, of course, it does not matter that Christ's birthday isn't on Dec. 25. I just know that I wouldn't like to have my birthday celebrated months away from the real thing. Lucky for Christians, Jesus is a heck of a lot better person than I am. I will also admit to that.

I do realize that some adults get a kick out of Christmas too. I was sort of joking around, but I still believe that most of the pageantry and such is for the kids. Certainly Santa isn't really a very Christian thing, although I don't think of him as being a horrible thing like some hard core Bible thumpers. The ideas behind him corrospond very well to Christian ideals. I like to think that Jesus probably would have liked Santa quite a bit. Of course, he would have loved him, but you know what I mean. Wait, I'm a horrid Christian... he does love him.

Now, as for the retailers. Try and tell me that it's not for them. All I hear about on the radio is that the retailers are worried because people are not spending as much as they thought that they would. I say - good for us and I'm sorry about your luck retailers. We spend too much at Christmas time anyway.

I'll close this rant by saying that as far as Star Wars goes, I believe that each planet should have its own holidays and they could all lead to some neat quests, as well as having some that the whole Galaxy celebrates. Right now, it seems that the wookiees are the only race to have a Winter holiday. Many groups on Earth developed their own winter holidays independant of each other. Why wouldn't everyone else in the Universe? Answer: they probably would.

Merry Christmas and or Happy Holidays to everyone whom plays and works on this game!

P.S. That is the only thing that even resembles a present that I'm giveing the people at SOE this season, so I'm not complaining. Unless you are counting my monthly fare for playing.

Christmas making a come back --

I would like to think it will but in all honesty, I don't see it. People are boycotting retailors who refuse to use Merry Christmas, which I been doing for years, but before things get better they will get worse.

It is bothersome to me but to lessen the impact I am just always sure to do all I can in my power. And that is by wishing everyone a Merry Christmas during the season.

I have been playing since 2 weeks after launch. I missed the life day the first time. My charachter is a wookie. I have been waiting to get a life day robe since then. I have 3 accounts and was happy that I got my robe...an orb..and a painting...so I am happy about that..

What I really want is for SOE to make wookie armor slighly easier to craft...for it is hard to find and when u find it it is insanely expensive.

The other thing I would like is afree FS tree. I think that would be a great gesture and very high class. It would say

"Dear (insert name),

Thank you for being a loyal SWG player and enjoying the game and for being a part of the constanly changing game we are developing...here'sa gift of FS XP as atoken of our appretiation. May the force be with you."

I don't think that is terribly unreasonable?

...btw...it is good to see that they are includingTHE PLAYERSin the revamp and a essentially treating it like an expansion. We may not know what's going on yet...but we will soon enough.
