Thread: Star Wars Names: The Name Doctor is IN!

I roll to disbelieve that you knew who Volsted was without googling.
I have this book, you see, that is an anthology of great science fiction works, and it contains A Gridban story, named "Scourge of the Atom," in which I was greatly entertained.
But you should know that if I suspect a name, I WILL Google it, but so far, my suspicions have always panned out. The Gridban thing was off the top of my head, as was the Chinese temple in that other name.
So your saving throw fails here, my friend.

Then you are one of two people I know besides myself who've ever heard of him. I tip my hat to you, sir.
For background, Volsted Gridban was a "house name," that is, a pseudonym owned by a publishing house and used by more than one author. Volsted Gridban was a house name for the Scion Ltd. publishing company in England, and two authors wrote under the name: E.C. Tubb and John Russell Fearn. Tubb is somewhat famous, Fearn a bit less so, and Gridban is wholly obscure except to those who value trivia and have collections of old SF stories from the 50s.
Hehe yeah I know Zedire is hardly original from Zerire. I was actually going to go for both characters as Zerire, but nearer launch in the launchpad's "character select" it only showed name and location, so if both "Zerire's" were on the same planet then it would have been confusing, plus I might get the 2 characters mixed up myself and swap over my roleplaying accidentally from one to the other.
Thanks for the review,
(ps how about Ze-Ca Linrire or Ze-Ca Lindire or Ze-Ca Linire instead of just Ze-Ca Lin? It would mix all parts of my name as opposed to jsut Ze-Ca Lin butwhich do you think sounds better? I like Lindire myself, sounds sort of Italian to me)
Dyrn Czantor
A "durn" good name, but you are culturally locating yourself a little bit. I like how the letters look near eachother in this one, and while not perfectly musical, it will pass.
By "culturally locating", do you mean in game, or real life? And what culture would that point at?
(I'm guessing Russian or Romanian)
Mr StinkyPants human, marksman/scout/entertainer. not to many showers available for a homeless wonderer can cause a mans pants to smell pretty ripe. Can't forget a name like this and is even a great ice breaker for conversation.
LOL is my most saught after response from everyone. I enjoy a good laugh.
later peps.
Stink out!
As I find this to be a reallyinteresting thread I figured I would share my input as well. ![]()

Looking forward to the reply.
Let's not forget that the capital of Canada is Ottawa, where both of those names are actually native indian words (I believe Canada is a derivation of a word meaning village).

Ok, the fact you were raised by humans make this ok with me. The last name is quite Japanese in appearance, but it will pass on your name, now, your brother...
If I'm not mistaken, Hathor is one of the ancient Egyptian deities.

Well, well, this dragon name doesn't hide at all in ancient roots! The first name would obviously be a descriptive nickname, it's up to you to decide how. Hathor has those comforting sounds that make us warm and fuzzy inside.

Eclipse Draco
Eclipse is a cool word, and has some currency in Star Wars, so I'll pass on this, but be thinking of how to defend it. Draco...well, this dragon thing is always going to be with us, and if you go there, so you shall. I would suggest mixing up your dragon name and keeping the flavor, but not make us be thinking of our Ring of Fire Protection when we read it. Eclipse Rako would be nice.
Heh. I was wondering if I should qualify that name or not... I suppose my own fault for not doing so. As you can tell, my internet moniker is MoonDragon. I've had that nick for a long time. In games where one can have more than one login/character I generally don't use it, but attempt to have a spin-off name. Eclipse's name was one such spinoff. Celestial and draconic, just the way I like them.
I also thought that Eclipse may fit well with a SW theme, as a rare but beautiful celestial event. Draco seems like a decent, yet somewhat exotic, human name. It never really crossed my mind to make a connection with fantasy dragons. More of a connection with some sort of a romatic language last name.
As far as the last name having aconnection to a creature noun, think Larry Bird. From that perspective, I think Draco is a perfectly valid, and plausable, last name.
So... I'll put my name down.
