Thread: Star Wars Names: The Name Doctor is IN!
Thorin Kinslee
Human, Imperial
Carbineer/ Smuggler/ future politician
Iendiaron Reouf (that is an i not an L at the beginning)
Human Doctor/Pistoleer
Here's my schedule for the near future folks:
Page nine people will get their names reviewed this evening late-late or tomorrow morning early.
Page ten people will get their names reviewed tomorrow evening.
Page eleven people, we'll get you when we get you.
OK, now that I have stated this in public, I'll have to adhere to it. ![]()
Riis' name tip for the day:
Know your species. Humans can have a broad range of names, but Calamari and Wookiees always have one name only. Rodians can have one to four, and Bothans always have a personal name and a clan name UNLESS they are dishonored. Twi'lek are quite primitive in many ways, and have acquired Human cultural characteristics, and thus normally have two names, and the last name is not always a clan name. Sullustans always have two names with three to five letters that contain a healthy amount of repeating vowel sounds and consonant types.

Hehe Ill let you have fun with mine:
Gatekeeper
Wookie - Pikeman
Ok, here goes nothing:
1st char:
Modin Ackack - Mon Calamari
2nd char (and with a better name IMHO):
Ty'llen Cymru - guess the species ![]()
Isharik Myu
Male Zabrak with all base skills and a bit of pistoleering.
Please remember I reviewed all of these names last night, and the forums logged me off and deleted them, so I am a little grumpy. I'll not let that affect my advice. ![]()
Kiryan Gwa'syr
A good Bothan clan name at the end, and since we don't know a lot about Bothan first names, I'll give it the ol' pass as well. Nice name.
Epaufeasee Da'yka
Boy, you can sure spot these name generator names a mile away. The clan name it came up with is good, but that first name is...well, wow. It's actually pretty cool to say, but I would just chop it up and use a piece: Epau, Feasee, Paufea, or something.
Nyloc
Doctor Colyn I presume? Backward names are a staple in fantasy and sci-fi naming, but you can get caught on this...some folks (like me) look for backward names and can't get past that. Nyloc sounds pretty nice fora one name.
Talfin Bladesman
Indeed, a better fantasy name than Star Wars name. Keep the first name, and try to do something similar, but Star Warsy with the last name. Pick a Star Wars weapon, and modify it and fit it. Carabiner, Rifleman, etc.
Sabin Dorntamer
Sabin is fine, but...what is a Dorn, and how does one tame it? Is this Michael Dorn we are speaking of? He seems hard to tame. I think if you explain the name slightly more, I can more fairly think on it.
Telldrin Tetac
Ah, the double "t" approach. Very strong. Explodes out of your mouth and gives the name power. You lose some in the details, and if you wanted to strengthen the name, you could put more stop consonants in.
Balthesar Tribune
Balthesar is a very, very Human name, for starters, and is pretty recognizable as such, which is a major concern. You can do some vowel drift on it, and see if you can polish it up: Belthosir, Bulthusur, or some such. Heck, Balthar looks good from here. Most people think of the Tribunes of the ancient Roman Senate when they think of the word tribune. While they were defenders of the people, they were such because they held a vital veto power over the more powerful senators. More often than not, though, they were bought by the senators they were to hold in check, and used as personal veto holders for these senators. Sooo, this is a good name, one with a history, but perhaps you can look at it's history and determine if that is the one you want.
Dackbar Ockar
The "Calamari one name thing" is that Calamari have one name only, except in very rare instances in which they were granted an honorific, or took the name of an honored ancestor. You can claim this in this case (either way...but be prepared to justify you answer). Or you can simply drop Ockar, and stick with Dackbar. Both names would work individually (or yes, together) with a Calamari.
Bach Nivlin
Bach is such a famous name in the here and now, that I would advise against it, but that being said, you could have some fun with the one vowel and name him Boch, which would easily pass from me. Nivlin looks like a good name from here, it's almost a palindrome, and sounds familiar, but looks different, which is a good thing.
Fairchild
And a fair child I am sure you were. The name is a good Human last name, and you made your name intriguing by only having one last name as your name. I like it.
Zeonin Xi'yyz
I would swear you were a Flash Gordon villain! Seriously, ditch a z or an x or both. I feel you have gone too far in the exotic-o-meter. Seonin Ksi'yyz would be easier on the eyes, and sound the same.
Akessa Renliss
This is a high quality name. It slips off the tongue is smooth sibilant syllables. "A" names are good bets, like "V" names, and the hard-soft-semihard-soft pattern you chose is quite musical.
Lekk'ah Triiq'ue
The "trick" with the last name may be a little forced, but I think the name as a whole works. I don't have much more to say about this one, other than some tinkering with the last name would be helpful.
AuroraStar Moonwing
Anyone who played Gamma World (dating myself here a little) would remember the dreaded Moonwing. But I digress -- Moon- rootnames always convey acertain moody, romantic tone, and with Moonwing I get a feeling of languid freedom. The AuroraStar is a bit much, I feel, and Star Moonwing or Aurora Moonwing is still a littletoo celestial.
Eryn Moonwing
I feel this name is a bit better than the one before, but I like the name "Erin" so that may be a part of it. All I said above applies here, as well. At first I was shocked with the mental image of zabrak/human siblings, but then I realized it was another adoption. The galaxy must be full of orphans or something
.
Ikai Riti
Good name. Ikai is a Japanese first name. But here, it flows well.
Omzig Retsil
Lister Gizmo, were you influenced by Lister from Red Dwarf, or Lister, the scientist? At any rate, what I said above about backward names applies here as well. Omzig and Retsil are both good Star Wars names, at any rate, but together, they were a bit distractingly obvious to me.
Charles Galperin
And a fine real name it is. Let's make some Star Wars names from it: Charin Lesgal, Chasel Galnir, Galles Chanir, Selnir Lagcha, Chagal Lesrin. All of these are good names. As an exercise for the reader, you too can make Star Wars names from your name with this formula: Steams Liwsma is my favorite from my own name.
Santacharm
Um, no. Imagine if you will, a giant Wookiee crashing through your ceiling on December 25th, carting a giant bag of resources for under the tree? I thought so...no charm there. ![]()
Mikbo Pania
Not bad, actually. My Star Wars name is Stewi Lopas, which is squirrelly and fun.
