"Official", not "canon", as Lucasfilms defines it.=)And video-games are usually viewed as being low on the official totem pole. That said...
The imperial armor designs are great. There's no faulting them. But then again, they're right out of the movies, with exception to the tweaked assault armor.
The rebel armor-- interesting designs but not exactly my cup of tea. They don't quite feel as if they've been extrapolated from the movie designs, and they almost look more advanced than the Imperial sets, which goes a little contrary to the aesthetic precedences in the movies, books, and most of the related Star Wars merchandise. I guess I had imagined rebel armor as looking a little like inferior copies of Imperial plasteel armor, with more areas exposed (a Star Wars visual tradition for Rebels), and a more streamlined and simplistic design. Maybe just a breastplate, some padding, and open helmet in the Hoth or Endor styles.
These look more like Mandalorians or something out of Halo, which is going to wear at the Star Warsy look when they become the suits of choice for most Rebel players. They almost look less Star Warsy than the original Marine armor-- which had some nice Star Wars designelements going for it, with exception to the too-bulky shoulder guards anda helmet meant for Calamarians forced upon all other races.
Here's hoping to see more Rebel attire that come directly from the movies, or extrapolations of them at least, that provide viable bonuses in dodge or counterattack, and reflect the Rebel preference to stay light and fight light. Perhaps some professions can be made to workbest unencumbered by armor, relying more on Stary Warsy uniforms.

Will Armorsmiths be able to craft this? Someone might have already asked, but I don't have time to look through 8 pages.
Um... Rebel uniforms != armor.

What Rebel armor did you see in any of the movies?
Watch the Movies again and ask me that.
While the Rebel armor doesnt look as rugged as the Imps armor, the Rebels DID havedistictive looking armor (or uniform)sets that could be seen in the Movies.
While the Rebs never had a armor that was like the Imps ST armor they had thier own distinctive look, which the armor sets developed for the CU looks NOTHING like.
Is this Starwars or not?
If it is, lets see something from Starwars and not from something pulled out of thin air.
Guys, seriously, GET OVER IT, you want someth9ing starwarsy but how in the heck can you look at pants and a vest as ARMOR?
Lucas Arts has approved it, THIS IS NOW OFFICIALLY REBEL ARMOR! Oh no it doesnt look like the armor worn by rebels in the movies done over 20 years ago!

If you want to go with "cannon" here is what you get (from what I saw in your pics)
- Helmet armor (chiten max)
- Longsleave shirts (mabe with 10% Kin res)
- Cargo pants (10% kin res)
- Jacket (10% kin res)
If you hate the new armor so much, do you also hate the rebel armor that is ingame already?
Plus you dont have to use it. If you despize it so much dont use it. Get a tailor to make some cargo pants, jacket and long sleive shirt.
Because I will have to SEE it.
It will make the Game thats much less like Starwars.
I have seen in the past many Imps complaining that them seeing me kill thier ST NPC's kills thier "Immersion" and the TEFs were put in to remedie that.
Well, having to see this armor in this game as actual Rebel armor will equally kill my "Immersion".
