One thing that was kind of cool with EQ, (played it a long time before SWG), was that some quest givers would allow you to trade in your reward for an alternate one that was more to your liking.

I like the way you implimented the wookie thing but both my main and alt got orbs... I already have orbs from last year... You came out with three new paintings and why you decided to throw in orbs and robes from last year is beyond me unless you just wanted to mess with people. Could you at least make the start wookies do a trade? I was kind of hoping to find a new piece of art in my inventory Christmas but now that I know this was it, well frankly it kind of sucks... At least my old orbs had value to me, they were a rememberance of a by-gone time. These new ones... they are just dupes and I thought you guys hated dupers...

I didn't get a life day orb last time and I really really wanted one. Last time they were handed out to mayors and almost nobody got any of them. I'm quite happy with my life day orb, can't people get a present and just say "Thank you".

Thank you.

Marry Christmas Devs

And its my fault you didn't get an orb last year? If I had gotten one of the new paintings perhaps a thank you would be in order but instead I got two copies of something I already had. All the while new art was created. New art that will probably sell for a million credits or moreif I want one. I would have liked one of the new landscape ones of the home world but I guess its irrelevent of what we want... The point of my post.

It seems that the Orb drops more then anything else, it must, two accounts and two Orbs... And I'll tell you, the orb sure could have been done better as its hardly noticable. I stuck a candle in one and its still obscure.

I'm suppose to say thanks? Ok, thanks for nothing...

I could really care less about not getting a trinket in and of itself.

What concerns me the most about this, is that IMHO this is yet another example of how the devs and SOE take their customers completely for granted.

Repeated broken promises, subpar customer service, and now, not even a small token to thank customers for their loyalty and support.

Aagin, its not the token itself, its the thought process and attitude nehind this decision that I question.

BIG DISSAPOINTMENT ... thats bad marketing mate , making ingame items everyone expects is easy to do ..... sow hat are you waiting for ???

You know you own the players some stuff .... after some things you (DEV team) did , for example the jedi revamp where the best pearls i had turned into crap ones (quaility) , messing up with jedi skills , completly unbalanced combat proffesions, bugs that are ingame for over 1 year now and all this stuff , you need to make people HAPPY , but that is one thing the DEV team of SWG sometimes forget ...

You need to be more sensible with the community ... have the feeling of what can be done and what should never be done.Look at the wookie life day orbs ... i know some people who spent all the money they had in buying one , now they common , DONT do the mistake Origin did with Ultima Online , they completly messed up with the rares by doing thngs like this ... Hunting Rares is one of the last challenges for many veterans , dont mess up and make things that are rare common ... (and dont even think about changing the stats of pearls and crystals by random factor , people already spent 2x of the time in getting good (premium) ones , i will not go hunt another 2 months again to get this stuff)

So pull out some nice deco stuff and make a Chrismas gift !!! You would only make us junkies a little bit happy maybe .......

I expect a : YES OK !!!! answer Thunderhead

DO IT

(btw sorry my english is not that good , so this post took me nearly 30 mins to write, so make a crismas gift !)

No christmas presents for players is lame.

Sticking up for this saying the need to work on the game is also very lame. What they cannot do both? Have an artist draw a sketch up of something starwarsy place it on a piece of art and give it to everyone. It takes so little time to do.

$149.99 a year and they cannotpass an appreciatorygift my way? They couldn't think of anything to give for the holiday season? Even my cheap work gives achristmas party. I am appalled to hear TH say we aren't getting anything.

Yes, I expected a christmasgift ingame.Way to look cheap SOE.

TH please tell me you are joking? With all that we've been through t

his year we get nothing to thank us for our loyalty?

====================================================

The post is not about vetern rewards but Christmas gifts which would go

to anyone even those in their free month. It would have nothing to do with

loyalty.

Wow major outcry, and the defenders of SOE are far and few inbetween on this issue... 6 pages long in a couple days. Hope someone at SOE is making some observations.

And TH, if your note taking pen runs out of ink lemme know... I can snag a 12 pack of Bics from our supply roomand mail them to you.

I think the discussion is very black and white tho, couldn't get any more contrast... A lot of us have been extremely loyal, and SOE has for the most part showed no appreciation...

I know I know... sounds pretty selfish for us to EXPECT some homage. Yeah I thought so at first too... but you expect our $15 a month. Stop taking us for granted... I can't speak for other servers, but the server I play on, Radiant, has been horrible lately, where have all the people gone??? I get buffed for some PvP, I end up running around for 2 or 3 hours lucky to find one kill. Radiant has virtually become a ghost town in a week or two. I used to be the last one to suggest this, but does SOE have a contigency plan for server merging? If so, can you guys seriously take a good look at Radiant.

If you keep taking customers for granted, I think it will just get worse... so many new games on the horizon, so many great games out right now.

Here are a few marketing tips...

1) Stop taking us for granted, I've said it a few times, just stop... 520 days and I have a Sorosuub deed, I say deed because the thing is virtually useless and don't like wasting 1 lot on it because once in a blue moon I will use it. SHOW US THE REWARDS!, since the game is lacking in the content department for quite some time, at least show us trinkets of love that will give us new found faith in our developers.

2) Start the trial program back up... Late spring / Summer was really jamming on our server, lot's of new faces, and many went out and bought the game because they got a taste of the game, and enjoyed it. I know because my guild must have recruited about 20 or so brand new people who got the trial, loved the game, and bought it.

3) Get more input from us. I know the correspondents are doing the best they can, but maybe with more correspondent type people you will get a better understanding of what problems really bother us, and what really needs to be done to make the game go in the right direction. Would be nice if each server had a correspondent, someone from the server that has a direct channel to convey the thoughts of the server.

4) Why not try something new? You know all these dungeons you guys added in the spring... Geo Lab, Vette, DWB... it's virtually all the samething with a different exterior... enter a tunnel like structure, kill uber high HAM mobs, hope to get a good loot. Now when I say try something new, I really mean it... How hard would it be to make a Cloud City area? Just think of it... Shuttle in, land in a docking bay, and then have access to many rooms, coridors, halls, etc... Mostly interior artwork, infact you could pull off the entire expanded area that way... You could do other "themes" this way... As vast as these 10 planets are, they really are getting boring, and with no real meaty content coming online anytime soon, what do we do? JTL for the most part is a bore once you hit master pilot.

5) Player City revamp... Speaking as an experienced mayor on Radiant... Cities were once awesome, but because the city/mayor/politician system has been so neglected by the devs, many cities are just falling apart on Radiant... I consider myself one of the few lucky ones to have such a solid guild to support it...We (mayors) cried about /cityban and how people could elude it by doing /boa tra, so you guys thought you had a fix? pssst, have you tried just double clicking on the ticket? It still works, people can still fly into a banned city, you fix didn't fix. Wanna see a really cool screen shot? http://zineotic.net/hf2004/perfect.jpg... That is my city after the awesome Pex spent about half an hour setting it up for our player event.. Without cool props, you know what it is? It's just a bunch of houses!!! Why don't we have the abilities to add stuff to our cities to make them feel more like cities... Yeah okay, the screen shot is overboard I know... I am not refering to the ability to drop AT-ATs and Lambda shuttles... but what about small things? Would be nice if we could drop like banners, or tables and chairs, or hell... crafting stations. You see all this stuff in NPC cities, why not in playercities? Like I said before, player cities are just a bunch of houses within a ring, and wahla, it's a city.

Okay... this was a long rant, and I rarely do rants, but I felt I needed to this time... I sympathize with all the other posters here, and I think your post saying there would be nothing was very bad and a step in the wrong direction. I would have expected that kind of answer from a Blizzard Dev.

This is a bad decision overall especially at a time when you are losing alot of players to other games. Yes the wookie life day thing is good. We should have special content for the holidays. But for xmas from SOE we want something that shows that we are valued as loyal players and loyal SOE customers. Considering the state of the game at this point I think you all should be bending over backwards and kissing major hiney to show your appreciation to those of us that have stayed loyal.

But then again we're all kickin a dead horse here. Its not like they will listen. They never do.

I look around this post and I'm awestruck by the greed and demands of some of the people posting in this thread.

This is the time of year to give thanks and be grateful. To give and to celebrate with family....

The devs have brought us a great game. I agree. However a small token of appreciation during the holidays goes a long way with people. Especially when those people are paying customers. No one was 'expecting' a free account... just some sort of decoration or maybe even a cool piece of clothing. Stuff that you'd give IRL to someone to let them know you appreciate them.

Expecting a gift isn't greedy you moron. A gift is defined as follows:

"Something that is bestowed voluntarily and without compensation"

It can be a worthless item to a million dollar ring. I expect a gift. A token of appreciation. A happy holidays.

I expect it from my boss and my friends and family. I do not expect it to have a significant monetary value. I want them to remember me and appreciate me as I do they. I would send SOE a christmas gift but I cannot seeing as soe is a nameless faceless organization. I expect things I pay a 149.99 subscriptions to to wish me a happy holidays with a token of appreciation. Even my magazine sends me a christmas card.
