Thread: Christmas Gift from SOE

One thing that was kind of cool with EQ, (played it a long time before SWG), was that some quest givers would allow you to trade in your reward for an alternate one that was more to your liking.
I like the way you implimented the wookie thing but both my main and alt got orbs... I already have orbs from last year... You came out with three new paintings and why you decided to throw in orbs and robes from last year is beyond me unless you just wanted to mess with people. Could you at least make the start wookies do a trade? I was kind of hoping to find a new piece of art in my inventory Christmas but now that I know this was it, well frankly it kind of sucks... At least my old orbs had value to me, they were a rememberance of a by-gone time. These new ones... they are just dupes and I thought you guys hated dupers...
I didn't get a life day orb last time and I really really wanted one. Last time they were handed out to mayors and almost nobody got any of them. I'm quite happy with my life day orb, can't people get a present and just say "Thank you".
Thank you.
Marry Christmas Devs

Everyone who is complaining about the devs not handing out gifts are selfish and greedy and should quit coming here to complain and go find another game to hate. The wookie life day thing was cool, put together well and should be enough of a gift for everyone. Just because they didnt put Christmas in front of it doesnt mean it wasnt a christmas gift. If you need something more from the game, do your self and all of us a favor and unplug for awhile
The developers fail at having any ingame celebration of any RL holiday. Last year at Christmas was the only one which I was hoping to see again.
Well... IM expectiing it

Sorry, but there will be no "automatic" Christmas gift this year.
I do want to thank the events team for pulling all of the Life Day events together though.
Its OK. Gifts are to be valued when you recieve one, and not something that are expected.
I wish the same could be said about our $15 a month

Personally, I like it. Sucks you can't upgrade it but it is supposed to be a luxory ship. Whatever.
The expansion altogether... It's fun and great but after I get Master Pilot, I don't think it will be fun. I was hoping for something like EB with interactive things to see and do in space like a museum and race track. More so, I was hoping for stations that you can dock at and walk around in, like on EB but with more of a cantina feel. Asteriods being mineable would've been great too for crafters.
But I love the interactive gameplay of it, the having to follow your target and shoot, just not much to see or do. And MP ships... They did a GREAT job. I couldn't have done it better myself, same with vehicles. The only problem with MP ships is no auto-pilot and the 75 item limit is, again, unfair and a little to limiting.. Same problem with homes.
However, I do feel the vet reward was more of a scheme to get everyone to buy the expansion, which is ok. What upsets me though is that it rewards people who played for less then half of the life span of SWG... What about those of us who been here since day one? What do we get?
I feel something missing for us, the day-one veterans.
I don't think any MMORPG is going to top UO's veteran reward system.
-Joe- wrote:TH can u come over to kauri and give me a hug for chrismas! lol
Careful there... The developers don't believe in Christmas and have joined the crusade of the hateful and the spiteful to rid the world of Christ.
Merry #$@!%^mas developers! I filtered Christ all on my own because I know you all are intollerant. Consider it my Christmas gift to you. Plus my $15 for the month of December in which you failed to acknowledge Christmas.

Sorry, but no hinting. I alwayswork to be as literal as possible. The only holiday event are the LIfe Day events, but I encourage everyone to check them out. There is a robe, paintings, and the orb that players can get.
do you people REALLY think he would say anything about kind of suprise we might getting? i mean, until i woke up and logged in last year i had no idea we were getting anything, let alone a holocron...
I read the first few lines of your post and thought oh boy here we go, manic depressive guilt trip laden thread... I Don't need to be berated and given a guilt trip by you... Yeah sucks to lose a loved one, but where is it my fault? Why does that even belong in this discussion?... If I pay into a game for a year and a half on 2 accounts, and feel my loyalty isn't recognized, I think I have all the right to let it be known. That attitude that I am just a small fish and my $15 a month doesn't matter... Yeah okay, whatever dude, technically speaking this may be true, however the forums are seen by a lot of people, people are influenced, and a lot of people feeling the same way is a big fish. And I would say SOE want's whats best for the masses, otherwise they wouldn't even be doing this combat revamp.
And this garbage about "... If you were a true Star Wars fan ..." oh gimme a break... if you were a true SW fan you'd be complaining 24/7 because this game is so warped and out of continuity... a day doesn't go by when I don't see 20-30 Jedi.... that all must have taken place inbetween Episode 4 and 5... Episode 4.5: Return of the Phantom Jedi Clones.
I love this quote... "It means NOT playing a game"... So you're saying on my winter vacation I am *NOT* supposed to be playing? Okay buddy, thanks for telling me what I am supposed to be doing.
And you praise the revamp they are doing, which I do not disagree with... Hey guess what? Lot's of people complained, just as they are in this thread... the Devs took note, and saw that something had to be done... If you don't ever speak up for something you believe in, then you will just let people take advantage of you all your life.

I've read about 4 pages and I think that it's time I stated what is on my mind regarding this whole Christmas addition.
Thought about those who used to play, who cannot now because they were killed or died recently?
Do you really think they are bent out of shape about some damn Christmas gift given by Game Developers
I would give everything I own just to see my father alive again. He died 2 years ago and to some FAMILY is more important than
what you would perceive as an expected return of your loyalty.
Thought about the true meaning behind the "Holiday Season" ?
It means bring families together, to celebrate loyalty, memories and past experiences?
It means NOT playing a game and bitching when something goes your way.
For some this combat rebalance will either make or break SOE, In my opinion, you are just 1 fish in a very large sea, You're 15 dollars a month most likely won't either hinder nor help anything that the Developers decide to create. Everyone continously whines about adding content. When 50% are wanting a fixed game... Screw the Gifts. I would much rather have professions that worked correctly, the way they were intended to be used. Specials that are balanced against other professions. Once they figure out the whole Balancing process, then I will openly admit I was wrong for posting this, because right now. I honestly think that whining about a Christmas gift, Holiday gift or Loyalty gift ( Whatever you may call it ) can wait for a MUCH needed Combat Rebalance. Given a quantity of 15 dollars is alot of money. But your meesley 15 won't make a damn bit of difference. If you were a true Star Wars fan, regardless of what has or hasn't happened since launch, you look forward to something that has been needed for not only the crafting economy but the combat community as well.
Take a step back and think about that.
