You can get these rewards at your next 3 month interval.

Does this mean when we qualify for the next 3 month interval's gifts, we would have to use it up to claim for this prior gift or will we get 2 chances to claim? First chance to make up for not being able to claim the fireplace and second chance to claim the current gift. Or, does this mean we will be 3 months behind from now on when it comes to claiming?

I swear you red names just sit around a conference table thinking of ways to piss off your customer base, don't you?

All you people waiting for a bunker house or AT-PT will have to buy the next expansion for them. The Devs have obviously decided that if we want them that bad they can make us pay for them.

So basicly we get some decor and toys, and told about new options right after we all picked our reward.

If you aren't going to put out the bunker houses and AT-PT because it will hurt crafters, the give the gorram schematics to the crafters or at least put the schematics in as a reward for a quest or high end loot (like on the new BH mission elite and boss marks).

Ultima Online learned to give their players something really useful... they increased the potential of characters as accounts continued subscription.

Want some useful options:

1) Additional skill points for any non-jedi toon... like +4 after the first year and +1 per 90 days.

2) Additonal lots... like +1 per year.

3) Additional vehicle slots... again +1 per year.

4) Stat increases

5) Access to Veteran Professions with potent but specialized abilities.

Much more useful than another holo you could have put in as loot.

Add +1 potential CL per year for non-jedi toons to my list. A lot more useful than the brazier/fireplace.

No decay + uber loot = /spit on crafters

Fix the economy and give crafters their $$$ worth... give us real revamp.

Remember... to Cancel you have to go to Register Expansion in the Launchpad.

Paw of disapproval Tiggs.

Your teams lack of communication of late is embarassing. SOE has never been overly communicative but this vet awardfiasco and the lack of offical posts regarding the 2-month BE problem is just ridiculous at this point.

I realize you all are probably sick of whiners but you'd be amazed at how far a little communication can go.

With theses rewards you just proved it isn'tworth anymore paying the game to reach the rewards milestones.

Once again the lack of coordination, planning and communication messed things.

If you analyze the veteran rewards system in deep you are to achieve 2 things with this :

  • first and most important for the game : keep players paying for the game and so financing the development

  • second and not less important : do reward the players and show them you appreciate them.

The first reward the yatch was a good move, then the crate of resources, the self powered harvester kit and finally the ADK where great ideas.

Most of the players I know don't even furnish their house as :

  1. they don't like the maintenance system

  2. they don't like the item movement system

  3. they don't care about playing sims online (decorating houses)

So giving display items to these fellows is a waste of pixels!

On top of giving only display items to the players you runned a topic asking for ideas and even advertised for some house, vehicles...

The players where waiting for them! But instead of looking forward and trying to explain WHY you didn't implemented this stuff you stealthily added the holos. Which the above players don't care about.

Now you are adding a fireplace reward BUT there is no word the players would be able to trade their death star holo against it.

Once again lack of coordination, planning and communication => unsatisfied players and riot on the way.

I would strongly suggest you to have a brainstorm with your communication team and seek how to actually talk to the players about this issue.

And also, implement for the field rewards for the 2 years milestone, because with your display gift most of us understood the following message :

We really don't care if you keep paying for our game, we prefer noobs (The BARC speeder gave us this reading too)

Wrong answers. From a "customer relations" standpoint, particularly in light of the utter lack of any communication regarding these veteran rewards, these are horrific answers.

First off, no one had any clue what the new rewards were going to be until they were implemented. Without any comment from the developer team indicating what the rewards were going to be, or if there were going to be any more added in the future, the best assumption the playerbase could make was that, though incredibly paltry, those were the rewards we were going to get. If the assumptions are wrong, the onus is on the development and community relations teams to get the right information out. Obviously, you did not.

Secondly, in order to claim our two-year anniversary rewards, we first had to go through the process of claiming our veteran rewards. Those who wanted the Corvette or Lambda Shuttle immediately had no choice but to select their quarterly veteran rewards. Once again, you can't blame the players or penalize them for poor information or poor game systems.

Finally, the players who are the most adversely affected by this problem are the very players who have shown the most loyalty to Star Wars Galaxies through its tumultous two year history (and pre-history). This "let them eat cake" attitude does not fly well at all.

There are ways of remedying this. Given your history, I wouldn't be surprised if you do fix this. But this is yet another example of incredibly poor communication and attitude towards your customers. Bad form.

QFE.

Just a side note to whom of the devteam it concerns: You might like slapping your customers in the face, but there might be responses to this as well...
And btw, fix the quote function.

ok, I'm not pissed off easily but this definately pisses me off.

Now I'm stuck with a stupid ugly mofo plant and some other junk while there are much nicer rewards to choose from now :/

And the sad thing is I knew something like this was gonna happen, but I thought ah no they couldn't be that lame.

What the hell are they thinking?

They should make some trade-in system or something where you can trade-in every reward once. I wouldn't see the harm in that.

It would even be a good service to the veterans.

So tigg i take it the translation here is just give us you money and shut up and keep paying. Well after two years of broken promises and such i have cancel my account. So unless you guys start working on the game im done. Parts of the cu are good but the problem is that SOE drop the ball again and here is more proof that Soe doesnt care about it customers.

Dear SOE:

I love your game, I do. I defend it vigorously when others attack itor try to persuade new players to quit without giving it a chance. I chastise those who use rude, inflammatory language when referring to Devs, Correspondents, or players like myself who choose to try to find the positive amidst the not-so-positive. I gently suggest (and sometimes not so gently) that players who seem to have no agenda other than flaming SOE might wish to consider other venues for their gaming pleasure, rather than sullying the waters here for the rest of us. I have played your game, with several accounts, for two years and have no intention of leaving now.

I appreciate that this is a HUGE game with a number ofdemands for your attention and time. I know that each and every one of you working on SWG are doing the best you can, with limited resources, time and, I assume, conflicting agendas. I am not questioning your dedication to your job and suspect that many of you feel just as passionate about gaming in the Star Wars galaxy as your players do.

Given all that, however, I have to say:

W*T*F?

You knew these rewards were coming. Your art department must have been working on them for some time. You have been soliciting suggestions for them for months. And yet, you have failed utterly to either listen to those suggestions or to provide even the most basic information to your customers as to what these rewards will be and when they will be available. You release partial information, and do not even warn your customers that you are not giving them all of their options.

And the rewards (which, parenthetically, I do like) are just a tip of the iceberg. Lately, it seems like NO one at SOE is in charge - there is almost no communication with players as to what is being implemented or why or when. Content is pushed to the servers with glaring bugs - which would be understandable, if there was just SOME discussion with your players as to why this could not be avoided. Even something as basic as "Yes, we broke the chat interface. Yes, we intend to fix it as soon as we can. The bug occurred when we implemented fill-in-the-blank, but we made the decision to go forward despite the bug because we felt more of our players wanted the new feature than would be inconvenienced by the bug." You would be amazed how much more understanding players would be (well, most, anyway) if you just kept us informed!

I have a sneaking suspicion that a new director was hired at SOE to oversee SWG and envisage a memo going out to all employees requiring weekly status reports as to how much content is being added to the game, with the net effect that everyone now focuses exclusively on pushing new content without worrying overmuch about the attendant bugs or, more importantly, about keeping the players informed. If you are reading this, Mr. New Director, please, please add a few checkmarks to your weekly progress report requiring bug reports and client communication efforts.

And for the love of the Maker, hire more people to work WITH the players, to fix these bugs, to make sure that the left hand knows what the right one is doing. Your customers WANT to love this game - they want to be your biggest cheerleaders - but you have to work with us, not in spite of us! Your employees need some help - and your customers some attention!!

In closing, let me summarize

1. Keep your customers informed. Do not release partial information and make sure that what you DO release is accurate.

2. Don't solicit suggestions if you intend to ignore them or, at the very least, tell your customers why you are ignoring them.

3. Hire more people. Delineate clear roles for your employees, set out explicit goals, and make people accountable for meeting those goals. Make sure SOMEONE is coordinating efforts so that your employees are not working at cross-purposes. And make absolutely sure your employees are PLAYING the game, so they understand what your customers are talking about.

Thank you for your time, dear SOE. I hope you will take this letter in the spirit with which it is intended.

May the Force be with us all,

Aerynne Antares
