Maybe revamping the profession and allowing combat xp to be used for a different skill set under thecommando profession. This would be the proper fix, but I'm just a player of this game for 2 years and don't know what I'm talking about. Just like Scouting XP should be allowed to be converted to enhanced reflex xp, considering that is where the scouting skill set is located. That would just make more sence.

"and to people like chris# the exact reason why I really dislike soe is just because they make pay-to-play games just for profits sake, not for the games sake."

Allow me to retort;

My initial point was that because you call yourself a "Casual Player" some how your being $crewed. I’ve heard several of you make un-substantiated statements that anyone who has JEDI is a power gamer and has no life. You are wrong...and on many parts. (I’m talking to those us that have been at this game for over a year) WE HAVE HAD PLENTY OF TIME TO GET JEDI. Can I make myself more clear?

The dev’s NEED to do something about the JEDI population.

By giving you a clear path since publish 9/ multiple x2 xp weeks/ and the ability to change your templet (to work the system). They have done enough. Face it. You didn’t make the dead line.

So you’ve chosen your RL time over the path to JEDI....good for you..... now live with that choice and stop crying about it.

BTW, I love the people that stoop to personal attacks... it better proves my points.

i love seeing people disagree with this change but then suggest they switch the exp from combat to HW, like it really matters. in all reality your only suggesting this because its a less likely to happen fix than jacking combat exp. just stop complaining, cancel your account if you want. the reality is that you have 4 freakin months from the time of glowy until the end. you do not need grenades to get that amount, you do not need combat exp to get that amount. just stop whining about it.

yes we realize that you'll mock the dev's and say its about the money and not the game (notice how they didnt change the time frame for completion of the village)

yes we realize that youd rather see grenades nerfed before combat exp

yes we realize that most of your who are complaining are the same people that stand around day after day and jack over your groups and do nothing but throw a C12 grenade three times a lair, cause a total damage output of 200 points and reap all the benefits.

WOW... you might actually have to start contributing for a while.

Since when has there ever been a time cap on gaining XP? answer . . they have never put a time cap on gaining XP . . . that would be stupid. The time phases for the village have absolutely nothing to do with the conversion rates.

What this change does . . . is punishes a group players for not playing as much as another . . . all the while charging the same amount of money.

They have esentially doubled the time and XP it takes to to earn any skill in the combat or reflex trees.Would you be upset if theymade you earn 10X the number ofinvestigation XPso you could master BH? Or if they made you earn 10X the amount of combatXP to fill the ranged support line in marksman? that is what they have done to all the FS branches that use combat XP.

Why is it that they want to control Jedi by punishing the pre-req, instead ofwhat is needed tobranch through. Its like makingthe unarmed tree in brawler 10X longer to control the population of TKMs?

"hey SOE, if you wondered why so many people canceled accounts to play WoW.
it's changes like these that make them.

it's the wrong approach, and only because one programmer is too lazy to do his job properly."

I agree. If this goes live WOW will get my 45.00 a month (3 alts) instead of SOE. I know you may not care. It's the point the game is being made into work and not fun for anyone who hasn't had time to grind everyday. I remeber the first time I saw a jedi in the game. It was cool. Everybody would follow them around and it was fun to play. The other day I was grouped with 7 others and I ws the only Non-Jedi and it was just as cool. My point to that is why do you care if everyone in the game is Jedi? If everyone is having fun, you have done your job!

Not true. All it does is keep you from getting the whole column as quickly. It in no way stops the progression of Jedi. The quickest anyone can do it is 15 weeks +1 day, no matter how much XP you have banked.

If you really have to have a jedi that quickly you can still use DE 5:1 and Advanced BLLs. You can do the whole tree in a phase. Or you can use Doc and rez. You don't have to use combat XP. But even so, you still can with minor discomfort.

If you can't take this nerf, then don't even bother. Jedi have worse nerfs than this to deal with.

who said anything about Jedi? This doesn't just affect Jedi . . . this also affect those who wish to unlock a second toon on the server (without having to pay for an additional account. This affects anyone who wishes to supplement their toons skills with FS skills. . . . This isn't just about Jedi. After all, if I wanted a Jedi THAT bad . . I could go to E-bay.

It was at about 8pm Eastern last night when I checked. I assume it won't change before the publish goes live.

Well I just started playing again . I stoped before the game came out (was in beta ) . So i've been playing about 2 weeks now and I went glowie yesterday . IT was so easy its not even funny . I got to cl 30 in the first week and I was able to solo 99% of the rebel theme park except 2 missions with luke at the very end. I did jaba's theme park in 2 hours solo , I did Nymh's strong hold in a little over an hour solo .

Its to easy to become glowie . I hate to say it but it is . There is no reason why a newb should become glowie in two weeks . What htey need to do is make it harder . Perhaps they should make you need to master 2 elite professions and increase the difficulty of the theme parks so they are actually hard and challenging .

I don't like this idea at all. It screws over the people who don't use grenades as well as those that do. I cap my rifles, carbines, and pistols xp, and by then I usually have a decent amount of combat xp. I don't need grenades, and I earn my combat xp honorably. This punishes me - and what did I do to earn it?

So let's think about this: Each branch of FS skills is about 1.2 million FS XP. If this change were implemented and I only got weapons and combat xp, I would need to earn 36 million weapons and combat XP. Now, normally I head to the village when I have 900k carbines and pistols, 1.2 mil rifles (I'm M.Rifles), and about 500k combat XP (I'm MBH too). 3 mill weapons and 500k combat would normally give ~270k FS XP. Not bad, but it's still going to take me a very long time and about 5 trips to the village until I finish one line. Under the new system, I get about 115k FS XP if I trade in the same amount of combat and weapons XP. This means 10 trips minimum per FS line, with a grand total of 60 trips to the village. Assuming it takes me 3 days to cap all xp, it will take me 180 days to bank all of the FS XP I need.

To be completely honest, I have no problem with this system as long as they are doing it to make the Jedi grind harder for everyone. I think grinding Jedi is much to easy - and this is from someone who has only unlocked two FS branches. I want to earn it. BUT if the devs are doing this only to get rid of naders, this is a very stupid way to do it. So I really just want to know why the devs have chosen to do this - assuming that the rumor is correct, of course. Not that I doubt your truthfulness, Bacciacca- it's just that it sounds like you got it from a non-dev, secondhand source.

[edit] Forgot to add: If the devs are trying to make the Jedi grind harder, start with making the road to becoming glowy much harder. It took me about 4 days to get all of the content badges and 1 day to get the POIs. With a grinding group on Dant, mastering two elite profs took me about 3 weeks. Waaaay too easy. I wasn't around back when the game first started, but I think it's much cooler not to tell us exactly what it takes to become glowy. /shrug It'd just be so much more interesting that way, I think.
