I was told that on TC the following changes have occured with regard to conversion rates at the FS Village.
Bounty Hunter Experience is now 5 : 1
Combat Experience is now 30 : 1
Why might I ask ? There is no point any more in combat XP, since you can store more regular Xp than combat. This will slow grind so much that it will be almost impossible to get FS xp.
That's kinda the point IMO. There are new jedi springing up by the dozens every day. And all they do is go to the trail and afk grind 2 or 3 mil xp a day in a group.
Um.. not all jedi do.. a lot but not all or even near most. I know myself, and many others that don't grind on kash period much less afk grind(which should be a bannable offense for jedi, imo.. ruining the name of the proff).. So it might be good for you to not categorize like this.
As for 30:1.. I say if you wanna blame anyone, blame the nade players.. the ones that are in a group, throw a gernade before anything happens, incaps and stands there as everyone else kills mobs so he/she gets extremely large amounts of Combat xp(same amount as if they fought with a weapon for the weapons xp). I personally, not blaming a soul, I tend to agree that it's prob another step towards slowing down the jedi population.
I understand where alot of you people are coming from about the grenade grinding; makes total sense that it should be a bannable offense. But what about us people who use nades, but continue to be active in the grind by killing. Most people I ask that say, "Its a waste of nades." But I mean come on!
Personally, I loath people who nade then go 'afk' for some reason ro another. So what I do is throw a nade, then keep fighting. I may not get a huge amount of combat exp, but instead of getting 600+ for killing lvl 81's, i get about 900 perkill. I think that is more fair.
...but that is my opinion.
Its not so much what they are doing. Its the message it sends. By changing combat XP to 30:1 they are basically punishing everyone, for something that (atleast on Naritus) very few people have done.
Simple fix, Make nades give heavy weapons XP. Afterall, noone besides a commando should be using a nade anyway.

I am sure someone else has already posted - way too much to read through on this with all the flames - but a simple fix would be to make grenades give heavy weapons exp instead of combat and leave the coversion ratesalone.

What do you think the odds are that SOE will implement a logical fix like that? It's a lot easier to just add a "0" than it is to erase "Combat" and subsitute "Heavy Weapons"
Great idea you posted, and it would work better than crunching the conversion ratio.

This assumes that the fix they are looking for is the grenades issue and not a global way to double the time it takes to advance in FS with weapons XP.
it's changes like these that make them.
it's the wrong approach, and only because one programmer is too lazy to do his job properly.
and to people like chris# the exact reason why i really dislike soe is just because they make pay-to-play games just for profits sake, not for the games sake.
ever since i played eq and saw the huge artificial downtime, and the expansions you had to buy to actually be able to play the game on nowadays graphic and feature standards, i saw what soe really was, ($)($) (<- imagine eyeballs) . this btw also keeps me from buying other sony products. last year i bought a 20.1" LCD. i had the choice between HP and SONY . remembering eq and all the swg bugs, i bought HP. why do so many people play WoW? they remembered blizzards FREE online gaming service. they remembered blizzard games without bugs and games being fun and where they were actually playing games instead of waiting for HP/Mana to regenerate or artificially wait at least 16 weeks to become the class you bought the game for, or see eq2 to pay for every little extra content. ok the next sentence doesn't have much to do with SOE, however imho SOE showed the way. Star Trek online, imho this game will flop. You'll have to buy an extra expansion for every race you want to play? WhatThe! As much as i love Star Trek , and i like it more than i ever liked Star Wars, this game will die very quickly.
thanks i feel a bit better now

FS grinder: hey .. what happened to my 3:1 for combat?
Peamos: too many people used grenades so I decided to only give you a 30:1
FS grinder: but i never grenade grinded . . . why am I being penalized?
Peamos: well you should have . . . you'de be done with your grind by now and wouldn't have to deal with this.
FS Grinder: Noooooo . . . ooooooooo ![]()
Paemos: I'll being seeing you . . . another 50 times now . . . . have a nice day. ![]()
I smell a protest

People were capping whole columns just using double elite mastery and not grandes before grenades became popular. The village is still gated by the phases. No matter what you have to wait 15 weeks + 1 day.
I don't think nades are the real issue. The real issue is that SOE did not expect as many people to go for Jedi as they got. Now they are really trying to discourage it. BUT with grouping XP unchanged, people are still capping weapons XP much faster then they were pre-cu. I'm not sure this is the end of the FS world.
And there is another way to grind out fast, you just wont have the combat mods you may want. As a DE I could grind out the whole crafting tree in one phase. I took a lot of money, resources and factories but it is very doable.
Docs can grind out senses in no time as well. This nerf is not about balance. It's about gating combat types.
