Okay so being a devoted gamer? Well since I have been with SWG since 03 I should get jedi and someone who been with them since 04 shouldnt? Make it a 2 year award? Hmmm now thats an idea. Most kids wont play a game like this for 2 years...

How would that prevent anything? That way, people who don't want FS would get it, or random people who don't deserve it. FS should be something you get for being a devoted gamer of SWG.

Though I do agree with some of the posts here, I would recommend going to a different solution. Going back to hologrinding is not the answer nor is the way it is setup now. What needs to be done is it should be random. Totally random in all aspects. When a character does 1 through 10 things in playing he will become "Glowy" but for person two he may need to do 5 - 8. But noone knows what they are or how to identify them.
This will prevent even the childish of people of getting jedi but also set it back to the way it should be. Most people depicted in the movies did not know they were force enhanced. They were told they were or maybe they never were told and died never knowing.
Just my 2 cents.

accept it. or leave. thats basicly all there is to it at this point. they would never shut down the village, to many people would quit, and they would lose money, and SOE is only modivated by money.
hints what happon with the crafting 'fix' way back when, half the game quit, or aleast canceled there crafter alt, and they freaked out and rolled back the change next day.
so as i said before, accept it or leave.

Eh...I see where you're going with that...and it is a good idea...lol...but I'd hate it. (look at my registration date)
I'd rather see something like...well...a quest. Kinda like what we have now but with less grinding and less...bugs... (the effin sith datapad failed to work for the third time for me just minutes ago.) A story-driven thing dealing with ancient Jedi ruins and such.

Hey Drab I agree its either accept or leave. Well I'm still here...But something needs to be done. Reading through the forums somone said " If you show your jedi skills in town a squad comes and gets you" I would happily go with this. I know if I was a jedi and I opened my saber up in cnet I be on the BH term in seconds.Forget that timing..I open my saber and 10 seconds later a stormtrooper squad or rebel force hunters come in very high levels and kill ya. This would stop jedi's showing off atleast and making them more scarce. But then again I live in never never land and want a perfect world.

Comments like '90% of the player base wants to be a jedi' make me laugh. Where did that statistic come from? Because I'm pretty sure it was dark and smelly.
The only reason I go to the village anymore is to turn in my pistol xp when it's near cap. I did the math a long time ago and realized that there was probably no way I was going to finish the grind, but with my brother still working on getting his template finished, I hunt with him and get xp, so I turn it in. Even if/when I make padawan, I probably won't grind out any further, but you never know. I mostly want to unlock a second character slot.
But I agree 100% with the view that the 'problem' is the jedi players. They're annoying. There could be hundreds of jedi on the server at once and I wouldn't care if I didn't see them all over the place. Can't even relax in the cantina without some padawan putting on a personal light show these days.
now for simple minds... that number is only an estimate. sorry if I didn't provide all the back up data and such to reassure you, didn't realize posting for you had to be an exact science. But it simply is a fact that a majority of people want jedi.. that is why the village is so busy. You try to flame the statistic.. but yet even you are trying for jedi (yeah you say you might not.. but you will). So be constructive or just flame me in a private message if you like. in my opinion.. i feel it isa fairly accurate number. can i say it is exact? no.. do I care to? not for you no... People that have nothing constructive to say are what makes me laugh. anyhow.. enough of you...
Jedi attitudes can be a problem yes... but should the population as a whole be punished for the way some people act? No... should the population be regulated? no... should people be forced to use "real" names? no... if you must have real names. then petition SOE to make RP only servers where names are screened and determined whether or not to be suitable. I wouldn't mind seeing people use better names... but frankly some of the names are entertaining...
as far as end game content... I agree with the earlier poster that mentioned jedi is indeed the closest thing to end game content SWG has to offer. But I actually enjoy not having any official end game... WoW had end game... I got their.. grew bored the week after I got it.. and it only took a month. When you add in offical end game.. then you officially end the game for many people. What else to do once you reached the goal? I enjoy having goals and stuff to do. currently jedi is my goal, after that.. tons more things to try and do. I always wanted to try pikeman, never have.. will do it with my second.
I also disagree with everyones view that a jedi should not be seen... if a player has that much confidence in his abilities, and has grinded his template and is proud of his abilities, then why should he hide it. Allthe people that want to keep SWG like the movies, when did they ever hide? the only time jedi hid themsleves was after the turning of Darth Vader and that was only to wait out there time. Then they Return as the the name "return of the jedi" implies. Anyhow... yet again.. those are my opinions.. I know I will prolly get flamed.. but frankly it doesn't bother me. they are my opinions.. and no amount of flaming will change those =)

A quest is definitely the way to go. Perhaps along the lines of the Kashyyyk quests with instanced areas and places where you must face your trials alone? The quest can be different for everyone then (different instanced area based on profession and other randomness). Could be you learn from a hologram of an ancient Jedi Master or something like that. (More in line with the Jedi extermination program as a hologram doesn't technically count as a living person).

EASY IT SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO EASY! GO BACK TO THE OLD SYSTEM! i mean keep the village but put in permadeath and amp up jedi to be strong again
With perma-death which half of these newbs (no offence to anyone) know of, we could easily control the jedi population though alot would complain and many would loose there char......hmmmmm no one wants that though but everyone wants to complain about how bad the jedi are and how many..
Ironic really the older people complain about having permadeath then once its taken away eveeryones happy for a week then everyone starts complaining about too many jedi.
But i do agree something has gotta be done maby a Jedi Vs Jedi perma-death system. so only other jedi can cause a perma death effect.(for newbs this means u character dies and goes bye) let the jedi knights and masters be blue glowys who get slain
BTW sry for any mis-spelled words spell cheaks not working lol

I would liketo see perma-death put back in but only if people could solo hunt and avoid the visibility that is forced on through the new grouping system which I enjoy. As of now the only drawback to hunting in groups is the visibility and the BH Attack. All that does is cause the Jedi to grind a little bit more to get there. I've talked to many Jedi in my groupings on Dant to finish FS XP, many have said that making up the XP lost is not a problem. I don't know how much these people played during the day and I have no knowledge of XP loss yet, but from what I've heard it is mearly a speedbump on the path to Knight, especially with all the double XP weeks.
There is no true risk in hunting in a group and gaining visibilitybecause it can all be made back up, but it has to be that way due to the fact that solo-ing is not a truly viable play option anymore. Make a play system that accomidates both grouping and solo play styles, bring back perma-death and this in my opinion would make Jedi a much harder/more rewarding profession.

first off who cares about the ammount of jedi there are..... it doesnt affect me when i play at all ... beside the point majority of jedi are worthless in combat.... that said stop comparing the game to the movies..... the number of jedi isnt as large compared to nons as you think ..besides during the years of the council there were hundreds of jedi

Its true, there are too many jedi, and I really dont like when jedi just start dueling in cities in view of everyone, I aggree with the introduction of NPC jedi gank squads that will kill jedi dueling in NPC cities and that will cause XP loss. Nothing like haveing a bunch of elite stormtroopers come and give ya a whooping, just for turning ur lightsaber in theed. Yes that also counts for u imperial jedi out there. Palpatine Hated all jedi.

Basically there are to many jedis that in a sense you think they would just add it already as a starting profession cause then if it is something more accessable then maybe the more ppl have it the less people will be it cause think of it like alcohol under 21's want it more cause they cant have it easy and after 21 its like big deal i can drink so like big deal im a jedi now lets go do another profession instead dunno kind of my oppinion. /shrugs but im almost done with village so im not trying to say easiest way to get jedi just my oppinion.

I agree that having let the cat out of the bag, SOE cannot suddenly limit the number of Jedi on the server. People purchased the game because it offered the promise of becoming a Jedi with your character, and many would stop playing if that were no longer true.
What they can do is force Jedi to be more careful, more secretive. Honestly I could care less if we have 1000 Jedi on the server - if I never see one because its too dangerous for them to be seen. The net effect is still the same, and in keeping with the canon of the SWG Universe/Movies etc.
So, to that end, I suggest the following:
*Change the Jedi path to be more random, and to make leveling up as a Padawan a "roleplaying" experience done ENTIRELY by quests. No grouping and no grinding required. Instead you do literally a hundred quests or so to complete the path. This will discourage future jedi of the d00d persuasion from pursuing the path, without preventing anyone from pursuing the path of Jedi. Add in an actual set of Dark Jedi missions for those who want to be Sith instead of just being Jedi who call themselves Dark Jedi.
* Change the Jedi Bounty Hunter system such that if a Jedi uses their powers in a public place (ie witnessed by more than X people) they appear immediately on the terms - with their name listed (unlike the rest who will shortly not be listed by name for merely gaining some vis) - and with the change that ANY Bounty Hunter can attack and kill them without needing the mission as long as they remain in that public location. That way if they gain public vis in a public spot, the hordes of BHs that are out there can all take a shot right then and there. I guarantee that will discourage Jedi from being publically overt.
* Add in a way to gain a second character slot without having to become a Jedi Padawan to do so. This is currently the "only" reason I am pursuing Padawan status. I might or might not become a Jedi but I definitely want the second character slot. The one character per server limitation is the biggest negative in this game in my opinion. Inormally play 8 different characters or so at any one time in an MMORPG, but I must play with my friends on the same server orthere is no point.
