Jedi is too hard?

Aren't the starter professions brawler, entertainer, artisan, marksman, medic and padawan?

This is not entirely true. I have all the XP I need to fill all 6 branches (and then some), but I still have to do 4 more phases before I can finish. Yet, I still think that the path to Jedi should be longer. In fact, I think a year should be the minimum time required to get to Padawan - it should only be available to those who are dedicated and determined. It would be nice if the path were revamped to be more interesting, but SWG is not exactly known for its massive amount of content.

When they first announced this game, I was kind of hoping that they wouldn't have Jedi at all. If you introduce Jedi as a possibility, then the vast majority of people will make that their goal, making the game extremely unbalanced (as it seems to be headed now). SWG differs from most MMORPGs in that it is pretty much completely player-driven, meaning that balance is even more important than in most games (the whole issue of if everyone is a BH, what will they wear?). In addition, they chose a time period of the storyin which Jedi should be pretty much extinct.

The problem is that SOE knew from the start that the idea of being a Jedi would be a huge draw, especially after the initial euphoria of the game wore off. Who cares if it doesn't fit into the story? After the first few months have gone, they need something to not only keep people in the game, but also to draw new people in. SOE chose Jedi because it's the most compelling. So now, a lot of the newer population sees Jedi as a right more so than a privilege, and that's the whole reason they play. So, as we all expected, SWG has turned into Jedi Wars.

To all of those who complain about having to wait around for your Jedi, I suggest trying different aspects of the game. SWG should not be entirely about being a Jedi. Try different professions on different servers while you wait, get involved in the civil war, join a guild and get involved there, etc. I have been playing since the day SWG was released (I still remember trying all night to sign up for an account because the servers were so overloaded), and I started working toward Jedi just a few months ago because I was enjoying other aspects of the game. Heck, when we first started, no one had any clue how to become a Jedi - just mastering professions and trying new things was a thrill back then.

And if all you really care about is being a Jedi, then either be patient or quit. I don't mean that to be harsh, but you choose to spend $15 a month on this game, and you know how long it takes to become a Jedi. If you don't want to wait, then don't bother. Those of us who are really dedicated and really determined will wait patiently because it's worth it.

jedi is way too short and easy, i took a full year to do it simply as the others have said i wanted to see the game, take part in the quests annd actually learn how to play the soddin thing.

jedi should be a honour not a right.

for those that say it costs too much to wait so should be shorter.. if u got yer jedi tommorow would it give u more cash.. if u have the funds to play for 6 months the u have 6 months, irrespective of your professions.

getting jedi fast wont make you money, so why use it as a excuse

yes i belive it should be an honour and not a right, however, it does take to much money to play, now you need to read the whole thread before you post, because im not trying to make money Mr. Blamer, im trying to SAVE it, im not in this for a profit..........................................

well, i have time to post here and not play, because, it takes to long to become a Jedi, this is because i was playing very long and hard, trying to become FS, but my parents ahve limited me to playing about 3 hours a day, believe me, i have my reasons to be complaining........yes reasons, not excuses.

In that case, shouldnt you change your sig to "i wanna be a jedi but my parents think its a waste of time and money"?

Just try reasoning with your parents. Do your chores, eat your veggies, take the dog out and so on. And then nicely explain to them how much you like playing SWG. Im sure they will give you the needed 15 dollars a month to play the game and oneday achieve that Jedi you want.

This made me laugh. The other day someone actually used the "Hey kid I'm in college so obviously i'm old and no more then youz" on me and I also had to laugh. Everyone thinks they're so smart. You just have to laugh...to keep sane

Glad I could brighten your day and keep you sane. Did you have a point or just trying to be smart yourself? Guy did write that his parents wont allow him to play more than 3 hours a day so I figured I aint talking to a grown-up here.

Take it easy man. I was mearly pointing out that your sarcastic comment was funny. Now you're jumping on me for that. Do you have a point to this? I assumed that you don't have to ask you're parents for more playing time. Don't treat me like I have to ask mine.
