Though it has been a while since I had parents to tell me what to do...I do feel for you. I know you want to be a Jedi *NOW* so you can maximize the fun you have playing that Jedi...but just try this..play the game for the sake of the game. Join groups and get the knowledge/contacts/XP and try to relax and have fun. I'm sure you'll find it goes faster that way and maybe you can even make some friends along the way to help you enjoy playing the game even more once you are a Jedi. I'm not "jumping" you for being young and living with your parents...I'm not trying to tell you how to play, I'm just saying maybe you can enjoy the game a bit more on your way to being the Jedi you want so dearly to be. The game has alot to offer outside of Jedi and Bounty Hunter..I promise. In the mean time..start saving up some cash and offer it to your parents to pay for the game yourself, maybe doing so will get them to thinking that you can play longer (more than 3 hours at a time and in an overall amount of time to get/play Jedi). Again, I'm not trying to belittle you..only offer you some alternatives to your "situation".

Just try reasoning with your parents. Do your chores, eat your veggies, take the dog out and so on. And then nicely explain to them how much you like playing SWG. Im sure they will give you the needed 15 dollars a month to play the game and oneday achieve that Jedi you want.

Good luck! Tell us how it went

This made me laugh. The other day someone actually used the "Hey kid I'm in college so obviously i'm old and no more then youz" on me and I also had to laugh. Everyone thinks they're so smart. You just have to laugh...to keep sane

Glad I could brighten your day and keep you sane. Did you have a point or just trying to be smart yourself? Guy did write that his parents wont allow him to play more than 3 hours a day so I figured I aint talking to a grown-up here.

Take it easy man. I was mearly pointing out that your sarcastic comment was funny. Now you're jumping on me for that. Do you have a point to this? I assumed that you don't have to ask you're parents for more playing time. Don't treat me like I have to ask mine.

Hey, if it moves I jump on it. My point is that I have a gerbil and Im planning to slingshot it through mybrothers skull. That way police cant catch me cause my brother died of natural causes. Whats more natural than a gerbil through a skull?!

So just watch it mister. My mom tells me Im special so there.

ps. Its really hot in here and I my waterbottle ran out hours ago.

jedi is pretty much end content in this game

It should be hard it should take long cos u will be the alpha class, not as much as it used to be but ur still the best class if u plan ur template right and know how to play.

Jedi is too easy in the new system, every newb can get jedi in 18 weeks now, and they still whine about the pace. At least pre-cuit took us the other time of the phase to powergrind the remaining xp. Even thoughyoucan get the xp way faster now that shouldn't mean u need to be ableto get jedi in 2 weeks. That isnt right, it shouldn't be made easier it should be made harder. In a few months every player will have a jedi character, that feels star wars to you?

Edit* i like the time requirement for jedi mentioned somewhere else in this post. Maybe make the village not open up till people are 6 month veterans?

well as mentioned earlier.. I agree with making itharder... the system is indeed very easy now. And I don't mind making it longer as long as it is constantly something to do other than kill all day long and trade XP when you cap. I think it would be much more interesting if the quest system was much more involved than it is now. And furthermore.. if the quest system was actually time consuming then I don't think near as many people would be complaining. You guys know how it works.. if you are busy busy busy with stuff to do.. you don't tend to think about stuff quite as much and your occupied so you don't really pay attention to how long the process is taking. So they could actually make it harder and longer and half the people prolly would not even realize it as long as it was full of stuff to do. That is the problem with this system now and the lame hologrind system of old days. I still disagree with everyone saying this system is easier than hologrinding, but that is just my opinion anyways. I don't really care what they do with the FS system.. make it longer.. shorter.. easier or harder.. I will still finish it regardless... it would just be nice if it wasn't a quest for3 days... wait for 18 days. give me 18 days of questing over 18 days of waiting anytime. =)

I have noticed though.. it is a lot of people that already have there their jedi that are coming in and saying thet path needs to be longer and harder. Well of course it does now that you have yours..... fact of the matter is... pretty much everyone has complained about this being too long... until they get their jedi then all of sudden... it needs to be longer.

This is not entirely true. I have all the XP I need to fill all 6 branches (and then some), but I still have to do 4 more phases before I can finish. Yet, I still think that the path to Jedi should be longer. In fact, I think a year should be the minimum time required to get to Padawan - it should only be available to those who are dedicated and determined. It would be nice if the path were revamped to be more interesting, but SWG is not exactly known for its massive amount of content.

When they first announced this game, I was kind of hoping that they wouldn't have Jedi at all. If you introduce Jedi as a possibility, then the vast majority of people will make that their goal, making the game extremely unbalanced (as it seems to be headed now). SWG differs from most MMORPGs in that it is pretty much completely player-driven, meaning that balance is even more important than in most games (the whole issue of if everyone is a BH, what will they wear?). In addition, they chose a time period of the storyin which Jedi should be pretty much extinct.

The problem is that SOE knew from the start that the idea of being a Jedi would be a huge draw, especially after the initial euphoria of the game wore off. Who cares if it doesn't fit into the story? After the first few months have gone, they need something to not only keep people in the game, but also to draw new people in. SOE chose Jedi because it's the most compelling. So now, a lot of the newer population sees Jedi as a right more so than a privilege, and that's the whole reason they play. So, as we all expected, SWG has turned into Jedi Wars.

yes you are right.. I should not have phrased it quite that way.. I should say most of the people. there are those that have said from the release of the game.. that they never want to be a jedi. and some say as you mentioned.. that they wished jedi were not in the game. I still believe without jedi this game woul dnot be nearly as popular. I could be wrong there.... but we shall never know. As it sits right now... jedi are here.. and cannot be removed. But i do agree with you on the above =)

I agree with you 100%. As much as it pains us die-hard Star Wars fans, this game probably would not have anywhere near the number of subscribers it has now if they had not implemented the Jedi system. Obviously there are exceptions, but I think the Jedi system is the primary thing that keeps the vast majority of the SWG population playing every month.

I also agree with what you said above about making the FS path more interesting, and I personally think this is an issue that plagues all of SWG - the absolute lack of content in the game. I still love playing, but I wish that there was a lot more content. I wish they would do more with the Civil War (outsideof simply PvP), I wish they wouldincrease the number of interestingquests (like the theme parks), etc. One of the things that I really enjoyed about EQ2 was the huge number of quests available, so much so that (at least in the early levels) the game was less about grinding and more about questing.

Unfortunately, any system that they put in place for FS has to involve some sort of timer if they want to keep the path long. I would do away with the requirement to train in FS skills (since most of them are useless to a Jedi anyway, and just take up valuable SP). I would then make the village somewhat ofa mega-theme park, where you take quests (hopefully interesting quests) to progress toward the padawan trials. Each quest would take between 6-8 hours to complete, and you would only be allowed to do one quest per week. There wouldn't be phases, so even if it takes you more than a week to complete a quest, you wouldn't have to wait around for the next available time you could take a quest. They could then define the minimum required time based on the number of quests (6 months = 26 quests, 1 year = 52 quests, etc.).

But of course, everyone has their own ideas and opinions on how the system should be done, so it would be impossible to come up with a system that everyone is happy with. I guess that's what the devs get paid for.

OK, let me clarify. I had to quit the game, meaning I dont have my original toon. I started over from scratch with a new character. Several points I am trying to make are:

1) It is not necessarially easier to unlock jedi post publish 9.

2) Why make it possible to get all the xp u need, but risk having players quit due to boredom?

3) Many players want to be Jedi, so why place a time barrier, that serve no real purpose other then to limit the number of Jedi? Let's be realistic, how many jedi do you see on any given day, so it doesn't limit the number of Jedi?

4) Jedi are NOT as powerful as many like to claim (1.5of a normal combat prof, according to SOE). Think about how many times the Jedi in your hunting band beat the Bounty Hunter...

5) Jedi are NOT meant to be rare as some like to claim. Why do you think everyone got a Holocron for X-mas back in 2003? Jedi were not unlocking as fast as SOE wanted. Not my words, this came direct from SOE. Content badges have been added as well, due to the difficulty some had with the Warrens being bugged. And lets face it, the Rebel theme park is the most boring thing I can remember doing in this game, short of riding my bike to the village over, and over, and over...

And, on a side note, BH and Jedi get most of the attention because that is what most players are, or are trying to be. I'm sorry if you are a Smuggler, Droid Engineer, or Image Designer, butsimple demographics indicate that these profs are not a high priority, due to the limited number of players with these profs.

My point is this: I want to work on my template, but cannot. What should I do until then? Collect 45 POI badges? Whoopie.Kill a Krayt or 20, and not get any pearls? I'll probably master most of the combat profs, just out of boredom for something to do. Either that, or hunt Jedi and make lots of friends doing so...

Well, I think the Fantastic Four is out now. Flame on...

Ummm...you DO know that you can just start up your old account again, right?

I don't think your old toons would be deleted.

Sounds like you started a new account when you didn't have to.

well, i have time to post here and not play, because, it takes to long to become a Jedi, this is because i was playing very long and hard, trying to become FS, but my parents ahve limited me to playing about 3 hours a day, believe me, i have my reasons to be complaining........yes reasons, not excuses.

In that case, shouldnt you change your sig to "i wanna be a jedi but my parents think its a waste of time and money"?
