I guess they wanted to keep the grind but didn't want to force people to change professions to do it. I really wish they would have went to quest based.

It is quest based. You have to do the quests to unlock the branches. Without the quests you get no unlocks. If you don't like the system then don't do it.

the village is combat oriented even though there are paths for the other skills to take if they want to truly abuse their sanity and bank books.
each phase lasts 3 weeks or 21 days. capping weapons XP at 900k and combat xp at 30k once a days for 21 days is enough XP to fill in all 4 boxes in one branch. i believe this was done so even the casual gamer can achieve jedi. so you dont HAVE to grind the xp you need all in one weekend. you can do a little each day till you unlock and fill the last of the 6 tier4 boxes.
jedi is totally attainable through casual gameplay. the main complaint about the old system was that the casual gamer could not become a jedi. under this system it ENSURES that there is NO advantage for powergrinders over casual gamers. if you grind it all out in a few hours via greandes you STILL have to wait for the next phase. the most time that can be saved is 3 weeks by power gaming.
for the casual gamer this is not a obstacle that cant be surmounted. jedi is also a profession that can be done via casual gaming. one buff session a day and you can be jedi in short order. the most time it will take doing a single box of skill in that manner is 8 days. once you achieve sabers 4 and techniques4 the most it will take you to gain a box is 2-3 days doing one buff a day. master boxes will take a little longer but still under 8 days.
these changes were made to help the casual gamer achieve jedi in a reasonable timeframe.

Ok, I'm getting tired of people calling them "free" unlocks. There's nothing free about them. Those of us who got unlocks at the village are getting credit for work we already did under the previous hologrinding system.

sux, how could u say it sucks. I did the old system and alot of us spent a year or so grinding out alot of profesions, plus we had no friggin clue how close were to unlocking. You guys on the otherhand, as long as u can get 18mill xp a month(for combat bars) basically your guarunteed it in about 5-6months. Plus u get benifical mods which can never hurt.
All in all this system is ALOT easier for your average player. And technically we got exactly what we wanted, a quest based system, not a system which is only quests.
Sorry if i seem slightly angry, but it bugs me to see peeps complain about a system that basicaly gives ujedi.
