Thread: Time to Nerf 50K HAM Thugs?

Hmmm. I did the phase 4 quest with this template:

0100 Fencer

3040 Commando

0001 Pistoleer

0040 BH

It took me maybe 2-3 sessions. I'm a noob at it so I was slow I guess. The point is, I got in a group and used the skills I had to get the job done. I didn't tank anything. I damaged the target mobs a little and moved on.

Play smarter, not harder. What the hell is with people wanting something for nothing?

always crying nerf. OHHH I want my jedi to be EASY to get, I hate hard things. Nerf them and hand me my free force sensitive mods please. ugh....

If your getting attacked by 5 50K HAM thugs with 65%+ resist to everything you got, who happen to be shooting you for 100-300 dmg each shot, then its hard to handle. Whoever said they are tanking them solo is lying straight out their a$$hole. It takes groups to take these down. I can solo one...maybe two..but thats if nothing else is on me, which rarely happens since most people get killed right off the bat.

Dont tell me how to play the game either. 85%+ armor with a cob macro and full buffs with Pikatta Pie and a stacker template should be able to hold his own to some extent. But this is rediculous. My first trip to the village, I couldnt even talk to the people because I constantly had 5 thugs on me. Thank god I realized I could go into the tents and not get attacked.

My only combat profession in Master Fencer, i can fight 2 thugs at a time easy. If your a melee fighter and the thugs are shooting at you your pretty screwed i can tell you that. However if you charge at the thug and start hitting him he's forced to switch to melee where then you should be able to tank him for the next 5 mins and get the kill. Always use intimidate. If you have 2 on you, try to get them both intimidated and even warcry the one your not currently attacking if possible. All i need is a good set of armor, buffs, 2 brandya nd 2 ahrisa and im good.

Most the time I can force them melee just by taunting them...no need to chase after them. And no, I don't think thugs need to be nerfed. I personally can't kill one quickly, but one can't kill me either. What this means is I tank him, while someone who can kill him does it. I must have had 10+ (at least 2 thugs) sith on me at once last night. I kept taunting them off of other players and drawing them to me. I lasted several minutes like this, with only the occassional heal from group mates, before they finally wore my mind down. And this was with my BF floating around 300 at the time. Even while doing it, I knew I wouldn't kill off all of them, and I could have ran to safety to start again, but since it was near the time for me to log, I just kept tanking while others tried to get their kills in. Have a plan and know how to play your skills and they aren't too tough, just challenging as they should be.

Anyone who's trying to go it solo is missing the point. Its all about how good your group is. If you have tanks, commandos, a doc or two, a CM and a SL you'll be fine. You could swap out MCH's with TKA's for Tanks and Riflemen for Commandos without a problem. As long as everyone works together you'll cut through the sith pretty quick. Everyone's posts above are right. You can't be mindless about fighting them. Spamming your best special won't do it. You need to keep them intimmed, liberally use warcry/wookieroar and watch your mind pool. Then its only a matter or time.

I must admit that last night a was taught a few things by a few of the guys at the village. I have unlocked everything and was only there to convert, but it is so much fun I decided to hang around. As a TKM/Commando/Medic mix I can tank all day long wearing my armor and buffed, but it would take forever to put a scratch on a Thug.

Then one of the guys there fighting next to me said "Icha, stop spamming UnarmedHit 3 and use Intimidate". So I did. Then he told me to concentrate on mind hits. So I did. Who would have thought that a skill picked up in a second tier box would be better than one picked up as a Master? With the 2 of us hitting mind only and me using intimidate we were plowing through thugs like they were nunas.

I also found out that it is a waste of time to pop canapes to take my mind to crazy heights for 9 minutes only to be incapped 9 minutes and 20 seconds later. Pop 1, then 7 minutes later pop another, and so on.

After 20 months of playing this game as a mainly solo PvE sort of guy, I am starting to learn some simple things that the PvP (and of course some PvE) brigade have known all along.

Do not rely on spamming your best special, do not just fill your stomach on food and drink at the start when you know the encounter is going to last 30-45 minutes, keep an eye on your combat window to make sure that while you are hitting the outlaw there are not 4 Thugs firing at you from a ranged distance. If you are a melee fighter stick to the areas between the huts so that the ranged Thugs/Outlaws/Pirates are not hitting you from 50m away. If you are getting low on health/action/mind - run to the huts and recover. Being a hero will just cost you another 15 minute ride from the Outpost.

The Village during Phase IV reminds me of Fort Tusken back in the day. Please do not ask for the fun to be nerfed just so you can become a Jedi that little bit quicker.

Exact same experience I had last night. Red circles like ants everywhere. Everyone screaming. Barely hanging on until they stopped spawning and we started getting together and getting ahead of them. Couple heals and deep breaths in the hut, then pounding out to the fight again. Had already unlocked and this was WAY more fun than the first day. If you're getting wasted, you're doing something wrong. Even if its a game design problem (I don't think this is), that doesn't mean there isn't a way. Find it. It'sway fun when you finally figure it out.

tbh, the thugs can be soloed without buffs too. Just make sure you have plenty of mind food and drink. For a melee profession, keep them intimidated and you will survive. It might take a long time since you're limited on how many specials you can use. But I've done it alone unbuffed, and i don't have novice medic either. It's tough, but do-able.

One thug I can handle - it when like 3 of them get on you it is impossible. I have no problem with the village being hard but when they knock you out so fast it goes beyond hard - it gets fustratingly difficult. And even when they are not they just take forever to kill. Perhaps reducing them to like 20K HAM would be more resonable - still prettty difficult but not as fustrating.

And yes i have full armor, buffs, brandy, etc etc so thats not the point!

Im sure i could change my template (Im master TKM/Medic)and make it easier for myself but thats not the point either. This is the result of discussions several players are having in the village not just me. These days there are only like 3-4 of us most of the time defending the village (on my server at least). We keep ducking in the huts for protection and can barely come out to fight. Its embarrasing and almost feels like we are using an exploit just to survive. The point is there are not enough people around to help with this quest anymore. Getting a large group together is easier said than done -and I'm in one of the largest guilds of all.

If the Devs reduce the number of thugs and/or reduce their HAM to something resonable then I'll be happy.

I can do 2 thugs at a time, 3 and im usually toast... but i get your drift, i went to the village late at night and since no one was there they all aggro'd, bout 12 thugs 8-10 outlaws and a couple pirates, i pretty much died instantly

Maybe I'm just a glutton for punishment but I say make thugs harder. I'm a TKM/Swordsman with master brawl and some medic tossed in and I can handle 2 no sweat, 3-4 with some difficulty. They're great fun to play around with, and I have a more entertaining time fighting them than say stuff out in DWB.

Interesting thread. Seems a lot of people claim to not have any trouble takin these boys down with ranged.

I'm a master bounty hunter and master pistoleer, and i have 86-89% armor. If a thug nails me with a special it's for a good 1100 damage.

Don't get me wrong, i'm not complaining at all. I make a village run at least once or twice a day to exchange. My luck always seems to put me right in the

middle of a spawn too. The important thing is to know how get in and out without having to deal with 'em, but thugs are not an easy kill.

If you're doing the phase you're definatley not doing it alone, there's tons of Doc's out there rackin up xp just rezin people.

Hell half of em never leave cuz they can just max and exchange after almost every spawn.

If you're just there to exchange, simply fly in on your swoop do your thing and fly out.

If something goes agro it won't take long for the group thats there to jump it so you can just peace out and continue with

your business.
