Thread: CU no more SWG

I love how people cry wolf before doing more than testing out the basics of the change. You haven't even seen the advanced professions, nor all of the CU changes and already you whine and moan and complain....
If you are going to leave, leave. Don't threaten, because it just makes you look like a petulant child throwing a tantrum. Just take your money and go...
For every whine I see here, I hear people in fan chatrooms talking about coming back now that the game is worthwhile again. Fun is not "get armor, get buffed, spam special attack", at least not for me. Fun is not /afk grinding, nor is it throwing endless grenades at something over and over. People are whinning about creatures on planets other than Tatooine, even though the Dev's said not to go elsewhere because the creatures aren't balanced there yet...
People are whinning about sound and graphics at a point that they are still tweaking out the basics...
You folks need to do a Beta test or two just to see how things are done, because you obviously have no concept of how major changes are done. The cosmetic work is the LAST thing finished, the polishing so to speak.
Just because some game mechanics and systems may mirror other MMPORPG's doesn't make this "not Star Wars" for crying out loud. EQ2 is EQ2, and SWG is SWG, and even if the combat systems are exactly the same, the games themselves are different. The current combat system sucks. The new CU combat system is how the game should have originally been, and so we get the change.
And Jedi are NOT the core of SWG. Jedi shouldn't even be allowed to be played IMO, because during the timeframe of this game, there were 4! Not 30 waving blades around in Coronet, 4 total. 3 Masters, and one noob who knows just enough to hit a small target in a small fighter and destroy a huge battle station....
KOTOR is set in the "OLD REPUBLIC" and this game isn't. Jedi populations need controlled because they are destroying any hint at continuity.
People crack me up. The first half of the message blasts people for "whining", then the second half of the message whines about too many jedi. Dude, that's funny. "I hate people that whine....waaaaaaah! Too many Jedi....waaaaah!" LOL

Its quite interesting that the biggest opponants of the CU are either Jedi, FS Grinders or have been here less than a year.....Not that strange, cause they are uber now and after CU they get hunted by a BH, like it should....
They all nag about it to be a bad game now, cause the xp goes slow etc etc.
Well if they dont like the game being changed, lets get back to days of PERM DEATH.
Then they will whine again and again, it is never good for them.
I say : you dont like the cahnges, LEAVE...
But STOP whinning about it....
LOL!
The BIGGEST critics of the CU are indeed jedi (who dislike the huge nerfbat the devs have given to their profession), but also the veterans who think that swg is loosing it's soul.
And to those poor souls who believe that jedi are über......"PLEASE wake up and see the reality". Jedi are being ganked, spanked and pawned all the way to george lucas by the BH's who are going to get an MAJOR uppgrade in the CU.
And this doesn't even messure the pain a jedi goes through when DB'ed.

been here since launch, not a jedi, not a grinder.
but the CURB is not an upgrade or a rebalance. it is just a totally different game.
SWG2? i played on tc5, and it was not good.

Beg to differ. The game is the same, but its a totally different combat system. And, its a good one. It makes you think, to gauge, to judge.
Yeah, the current system was pretty good...initially. Then came mega buffs, and high quality armor and weapons, and then uber loots...and it went to hell quickly as all the imperfections came shinning through, like the imbalance between professions.
I've been here since Beta, not a jedi, not a grinder, but the CURB is the fix this game has needed for a long time. No more non-intuitive, non-interactive combat. No more AFK loot camping, no more AFK grinding. No more "best weapon, best armor, best buff wins". Now, the person who understands his or her profession combat role and their enemies as well will win the day.
In other words, you have to think. Can't just spam a shot until someone dies, can't just target mind or use a heavy stun weapon to win....
Is the combat different? You bet. Is the game any different? Not really. Sure, things will change, but its still Star Wars regardless of the combat system or the changes it makes to other parts of the game. If you don't like it, you don't have to play, but many more of us are happy with the changes than unhappy.

The new weapons...look pretty awesome...those I'm excited about. The combat, man I don't know. I like the idea of not having to buff, but the single bar damage seems weak. It seems like it was more of a challenge when you had to watch three bars. Now it's just point...click...watch your health. Watch their health. Wooo. Before...oh man, action is down. Oh man, mind is down. It seemed more of a challenge. I may not have played long enough, but it just seemed like a scaled down model in a lot of ways.Again, I would like to see them slowly introduce this stuff (and ditch the cartoon icons).
I think the single health bar is a good thing. Health and special ability power pool makes sense to me, and now health will be the centralized target instead of having the mind pool be the only viable target in pvp. I will admit that from a pve stand point, it makes little difference. Having the 3 HAM bars in pve was and is fine, but in pvp it just does not work right. If you have any profession that DOES NOT have a mind attack, good luck. And saying the old system is more of a challenge makes little sense to me. Yes you have 3 attackable pools which might be a little more risky i guess, but the fact that I can spam unarmed hit 3 like 15 times and then talk to my room mate and not even pay attention to what's going on in SWG is ridiculous.

Jedi 1.5x stronger than best normal player = GREAT!!! Just because you chose to be one, does not mean you get to destroy everyone elses game because of it. RP your Jedi, enjoy that he can take any normal player and let go of your delusians of grandur.
CU looks like other MMORPG's? Well, never played those, just this one because I'm a SW fan, so I could care less what it resembles.
Just a couple of things. And my new profile doesn't mean I lack game experience. I had to quit for about 5months, butI have played since week 2 and did have a jedi prior to my absence.
Any supposed SW fan would know that a Jedi is better than a run of the mill soldier, hell... better than 20 soldiers easy.If they insist on making jedi this close to a regular profession you might as well give everyone the option to be one from a starting profession. The amount of time and effort required to become a jedi is a hell of a lot more than any other crafting/combat profession. Why should someone who spends 2 days grinding to become master "insert profession here" be almost as strong as someone who works for 2 months to get a NOVICE profession.
I don't see how jedi can "ruin" your game. Please elaborate (sp) on this. My guild members routinely take out high level jedi with ease due to their tactics and grouping ability. To say jedi have ruined your game is the equivalent of saying BHs have ruined the jedi's game which is ridiculous.
Anyway I'm through with my rant.

welcome back and well said. i agree with the fact that jedi should be better than normal profs by more than 1.5x, but something needs to be changed from how it is now. my way of changing it is to ban EVERYONE who fight clubs cuz it is lame!
