There is still a lot of work to be done, we are still only 3 days in.
I really hope they change the icons though, cause they are awful.

Thanks for telling me how I should be playing my game. Can I have your credit card information please? Since you deem yourself worthy to tell me how I WILL be playing, I deem you worthy to pay for my seven accounts. You can PM me.

you guys rock.
there are no elite professions trainers out yet and already flaming, hehe.
if you want to solo, go skill your own group.
get some crowd control, some damage output and have fun, lol.
dont flame before things even started.
NOW is the time to change things.
go to TC, ya you did already, but not very productive, lol.
send in your feedback, post to TC issus thread, and let them know.
keep your lame comments to yourself, go tell your mom, whatever

i have to say that I've been preaching patience for awhile, but I'm starting to crack under pressure too.
I'm a Ranger. I joined up in November, and although I knew that the grinds were pretty long, I totally loved/love the game. But I've worked long and hard to Master Ranger, even though I knew that the skills vs. skill points required was a little skewed when compared to other profs. Now it seems that Rangers will be very negatively affected by the CU (and I'm not talking speculation... Rangers will still need to level 4 branches of scout AND 4 branches of Ranger). This leaves enough SP for 1 elite combat prof. We're the only prof with this disadvantage because the other profs (like medic, docs, CH, etc...) will now have combat relevancy, not Rangers. We're not getting ANY combat related skills OR any weapons certs.
Now while a normal templated combat oriented toon can master 2 leet profs (thus giving them either a very balanced melee/ranged toon, or an uber defense or offense toon) they'll have a heads' up on PvP, and they will also be very potent at PvE. Rangers are again left behind. We've been promised a revamp post-CU, but I'd talk to a smuggler to see what promised revamps give you.
NOW as for the Jedi/FS grind. I've been busting my a-ss for Ranger, and that's going to cost me, and I've been busting my a-ss for the FS grind. All I want to do is play my Ranger/Jedi and have fun without having to play for a whole year, and without being punished for my past hard work.
It's a little hard to keep my chin up lately about SWG. If the Jedi grind is rebalanced to make it similarly difficult, without adding another 6 months of playing, then I may overlook the Ranger disadvantages... But if I get boned on both fronts, Ranger AND Jedi, I'll more than likely be leaving. I don't think that's a whine, it's just something I'm gonna do.
I think its also important to understand that the people who counter-complain about us "complainers" are probably the ones with definite advantages like:
- PvPs with tons of love for combat only activities
- People with a toon that will be advantaged by default come the CU
- Existing Jedi folk with a second slot
I'm not saying all people fit into this category, I just feel like I'm getting punished for dumping 108$ for the 6 months of playing that I've invested, as well as the base price for the game. Is that whining, or is it a legitimate concern? Who knows. I just feel like SOE is asking me to completely start from scratch, even though I've paid my dues... Its just a little frustrating.

Wow....it's only been on TC for three days, has over a MONTH of testing to STILL do, and you people ALREADY condemn it? Why? It's different? Look PAST the fact that it is not the status quo, and decide if it is not BETTER. For you. And for the game.
the problem is that it is the status quo... for other MMO's... we dont need SWG to mirror other MMO's... frankly the combat system from thos games is not the thing that makes them so popular. its the content that gives thos games their oomph not the combat. the armor changes DOT changes and weapon changes were despratly needed. the buff changes were needed although that wasnt the way I would have gone about it I'll give them a B for at least trying on that one. as for the rest of it... well I dont like the rest of it one bit

That's the friggin' point. The sheer number of Jedi on any one server is ludicrous. The timeline this game is set in (AS A ROLE PLAYING GAME the timeline is vital) should prohibit Jedi from even EXISTING. The game was designed to be the lives of the rest of the people in the galaxy. It wasn't designed as a Jedi warzone. This isn't the Clone Wars. This is the Galactic Civil War. There ARE no Jedi in this timeline except for Yoda....and he's hiding. Zip...zilch...nada. There are only TWO Sith Lords...which according to the rules of the Sith is how it should be. The Jedi are extinct. Allowing anyone to become Jedi in this galaxy went against everything this game was designed as. It's an RPG set in a Non-Jedi timeline. If you want to be a Jedi, go play KOTOR or Dark Forces 17: Jedi Knight 13: Kyle Katarn Gets a Poop Bag.

wth?! you havent even tried it and you are bitching. It is Day 4 people. cool out. I for one like the CU so far, I have been playing it since it launched on TC5 and I am enjoying it a lot. It makes you think about combat and actually plan your moves instead of just /macro unarmed3 = I win. Sure some people won't like it, that's to be expected. But I think a lot of people are jumping to conclusions on this when it has only been in beta for 4 days; especially the people who HAVEN'T EVEN TRIED IT! People need to go into it with an open mind instead of just assuming that it will suck. I think that so far it looks very good and will be more balanced than the current system. If you like no challenge button mashing then yeah the current system is fine. If you like a system where there are only a small handful of useful pvp templates, then yeah the current system is fine. if you like professions where half the specials don't even work, then yeah the current system is fine. face it, pvp is a joke, so many skills are broken, and every person with a completed template can kill just about everyhting in the game by mashing 1 button over and over again. That's stupid.

You are right. It's too early to tell. However...there are two types of players as I see it. The guys that can play 4-5 hours a day, and the guys that can play 4-5 hours a week. For those of us who are only able to play 4-5 hours a week. There is no way I'm going to continue to play a game where I have to hunt for an hour to find a group to hunt something cool. I like the fact that I can spend maybe 5-10 minutes getting buffed, and go out and take on the world. I'm not necessarily in it for the social aspects of it. There are people I talk to and friends I've made, but if I have to depend on others to get a decent mission. They can kiss my account goodbye. Because it is so early, I'm hoping all the negative comments are just wrong. I will sit it out and wait to see for myself. I just wanted to forewarn the devs if they are reading any of these that a good portion of us are part-timers, and tend to solo. A change that would alienate use would not force us to team up....it would force us to play another game. I know I'm probably in the minority...but we've gotta speak out too right?

I'm gonna tell you the same thing I have told everyone else. You do not have to group. Peope that say you HAVE to group are retards. Soloing is just as easy as it is now. In fact, I like it better because I can log on and immediately fight stuff. No worrying about buffs and other stupid prep work.

I love how people cry wolf before doing more than testing out the basics of the change. You haven't even seen the advanced professions, nor all of the CU changes and already you whine and moan and complain....
If you are going to leave, leave. Don't threaten, because it just makes you look like a petulant child throwing a tantrum. Just take your money and go...
For every whine I see here, I hear people in fan chatrooms talking about coming back now that the game is worthwhile again. Fun is not "get armor, get buffed, spam special attack", at least not for me. Fun is not /afk grinding, nor is it throwing endless grenades at something over and over. People are whinning about creatures on planets other than Tatooine, even though the Dev's said not to go elsewhere because the creatures aren't balanced there yet...
People are whinning about sound and graphics at a point that they are still tweaking out the basics...
You folks need to do a Beta test or two just to see how things are done, because you obviously have no concept of how major changes are done. The cosmetic work is the LAST thing finished, the polishing so to speak.
Just because some game mechanics and systems may mirror other MMPORPG's doesn't make this "not Star Wars" for crying out loud. EQ2 is EQ2, and SWG is SWG, and even if the combat systems are exactly the same, the games themselves are different. The current combat system sucks. The new CU combat system is how the game should have originally been, and so we get the change.
And Jedi are NOT the core of SWG. Jedi shouldn't even be allowed to be played IMO, because during the timeframe of this game, there were 4! Not 30 waving blades around in Coronet, 4 total. 3 Masters, and one noob who knows just enough to hit a small target in a small fighter and destroy a huge battle station....
KOTOR is set in the "OLD REPUBLIC" and this game isn't. Jedi populations need controlled because they are destroying any hint at continuity.
