Hey isn't this a Star Wars game? Is it any surprise that Star Wars fans want to be Jedi?

A load of people have even put Jedi down as their religion on RL census.

If it was the worst class of the game (which wouldn't be in line with the movies) people would still want a Jedi. Look at me I'ma Jedi!

Being exclusive about it would be lame.

Either everyone shouldbe allowed to become one or no one should be allowed.

Ok maybe i have a solution....

We keep the current bounty hunting system with visibility and all that, but we also add something new : Any jedi can attack or be attacked by a bounty hunter on sight. New terminals would be set upas reward terminals for bountyhunters. The bounty hunters could then go and collect a reward if the jedi happened to have already made someone angry otherwise it would just give experiece, satisfaction, or maybe evensome sort of prestige (like jedikiller badges or something). This would certainly encourage secrecy from jedi's it would also encourage secrecy with bounty hunters. Shouldnt bounty hunters have to lay as low as jedi, surely there are as many people who want to kill bounty hunters as there are that want to kill jedi. Another effect would be that People would shout that there is a jedi around just to watch the cool fights.

Oh yea and this might appease the Jedi as well, as they could go and hunt out bounty hunters maybe even the most notorios jedikillers for a little revenge

First let me start by saying none of my toons are Jedi, so I am not protecting my private turf.Second this is Star Wars not Planetside, or that famous TV show Star T&&K, or BSG, or Star Ship Troopers, or any of the other very good Sci-Fi games or possibilities for Sci-Fi games. Each has it's place, but Star Wars has one area the rest do not have and that is the Force. With the Force the possibility is always there of someone or for many to become Jedi. All the arguements that there are too many Jedi complete forget this. Yes I know what time line this game started at, but, and this is a major but, the devs have from day one said that we, yes we, the gamers could alter and change that time line and it could be a very dramatic change. If this wasn't possible then the Empire could never win, it isn't a part of the time line according to the movies and all other SW information. Simply put they loose. If you can change the story that much to where the entire other side can rule the universe or for that matter I guess even Jabba the Hutt could rule it, then to say that you can't have this many Jedi is just plain rediculous, of course we can and we have. Again I emphasize WE, because the devs didn't force us to go after becoming a Jedi. Since it was made clear long before the game went on sale that you too could become a Jedi, immediately states that this many Jedi are definitely possible in this game. That is one way in which we could alter the time line, and WE have.

It doesn't matter how hard or devious the devs try to make it, as long as we have that possibility then the vast majority of us will see to become a Jedi. It is a part of the mystic of the movies, books, games and illustrated novels, and audio tapes that many can become Jedi.

Now to suddenly say well we are going to cap how many can be Jedi is not fair to anyone even those who do not at this point have any desire to become a Jedi. Should we cap just how successful the Imperial forces can be? Should we cap how many Bounty Hunters there can be, which I personally think there are too many. There certainly were not this percentage of BH in the movies, or any other part of the time line so maybe we should cap that. Even though I might think there are too many of both does not mean we should cap them.

Like all things we need to find ways to make the impact more playable not ruthlessly destory peoples chances to become something they think they would really like to be within this framework of this game. No matter what system they have if there is a way to become a Jedi we will and are determined to find it, and we want our friends to be in on also, so we are going to let them know as well, which is exactly has happened, and we aid one another in getting there. So the devs have never been at fault for the number of Jedi WE are. But I don't think WE should try and now curb others desires to Jedi, imperials, rebels, BH or whatever, but it should be within the boundaries of this game and fit within the Mythos SW as George Lucas envisioned it and has allowed it to develop.

I would fully go along with the way Jedi are in this game and how they must operate is total in appropriate for the SW mythos. So this is an area where I think a lot of room is available for helping to make it more balanced and playable once again. Gads, I have one character who is a TKM and M Pistoleer and he can personally devastate entire Rancor lairs. Come on since when should that have be achievable? You really don't have to fear Rancors anymore in this game (yes you do have to be cautious but fear them? No). Since when was that every by any stretch of the imagination do able to anyone individual except a Jedi Knight and even to him it was a very tough task taking on one, one on one. So there are a lot areas where rebalancing the game is really important so we get back to a far more SW feel in the game, but I certainly don't want to take Jedi out of the game, and I don't want anyone telling me I can't be one if I decide I want to try because when I saw the original movies when it was first out in the theaters I could really dream of being one of those guys. It has always been a part of the dream, the mythos and the deep appeal of SW was that possibility that you just might become one of the Knights.

Bah, BH Dabblers can easily take a Jedi Knight, In farstar we see it every single day, then those griefers who are normally only killing the same 5 Jedi over and over, complain because they only kill 1 or 2 a day.

Hidding froma Master DoT/Warcry dabbler with 3 boxes of BH is not an exploit is the most clever thing to do.

I've heard this discussion a number of times in the forums and with my guildies and yes there are alot of Jedi and personally I think that ifthere is going to be a game based on Star Wars thenalot of people are going towant to reach what is considered the elite status. I don't even know if I would play if Jedi wasn't a part of the game and accessible in some way. I think the developers have done as good a job as possible to make sure that only people that are commitedto becoming a Jedi will follow through and complete the grind. Someone said it was too easy to become a Jedi. I don't think it is easy to grind FS XP everyday for 6 months to open a skill that you are going to have to gind basically constantly to keep up your FRS and get a decent template while avoid BH. If I wasn't committed to being Jedi I would never attempt this God Forsakken grind (even using grenades it's horrible). And I think I would open another account before I would do this grind just to open another slot on the server. One thing I constantly notice is when there are Jedi dueling in a city everyone gathers around and watches and I know I want be the one that everybody is looking at.

My 2 cents.......

i'm over on lowca and there are at least 2-3 jedi grinding in my sologroup every day. if people don't notice a lot of jedi now, there will soon be an explosion in the jedi population. i'm guess the CURB might do something to slow the jedi grind (if it takes 18 mos. to finish the village, then how long do they want you to work to finish your jedi template?), but there is no telling what is going to happen in 2 months...

I'm currently doing fs grind. I should be padawan by july. It will be xmas before he even goes public. I'm a casual gamer. I been playing for almost two years. It wouldnt be fair if they nerf the current set up to keep me from becoming a jedi. If someone has the time to get jedi in 2 months so be it. I'm happy for them, they are more likely to leave the game b4 I do. I seen jedi come and go. With the new combat upgrade. I'm looking forward wearing the new armor and pvping. Jedi is too lonely. I want jedi as a nothing to do thing for me. when nothing is going ill grind my jedi template. I'm still 3/2/2/2 imp pilot. I want my 10 lots and new toon for new revamp.

My new toon will be a pvp combatant!!!! and an ace pilot.

Jedi will be my background project, it's more of a reward for me as much as status.

I would like to gather a bunch of combatants and fight jedis.

The next big expansion is going to make a big difference.

pvping is not starwarsy enough atm.

with the new faction armor I expect to see more pvp with regular combat class.

count me in.

I think jedi should be capped.

I also think robes and ls equipped should give visibility

Some of you say "if you payed for the game, you shoudl be able to become a jedi" well i say, "this isn't jedi galaxies, this is star wars galaxies.".

Jeeez...so you paid for the game. So what. You paid to enlist in a social framework. You didn't pay to become "The One". EVERYONE wants to be "The One". But it simply can't happen. Thus, EVERYONE must be disappointed to a small degree. But if this isn't accepted, and the devs cater to everyone's desire to be the master of the server, then things will just become ridiculous...as they are already in my opinion with master bounty hunters, teras kasi masters, commando masters as plentifull as mcdonald's employees.

They really need to, in my opinion, take a LOT of emphasis off improving your personal character, and put emphasis on improving factions/ guilds/ etc. This should be done through the actions of many unremarkable players, not one or two lightsaber weilding flamethrower toting, vibroknuckling Neos.

If you want to be uber, go play a single player game. If you want to try to be uber at swg, good luck..but it should be so impossibly difficult that its stupid to try. Instead, you should be thinking about how the imperials/rebels can win. How you can help with the city you're a part of. How you can aid the guild war you're in...etc.

This is a social game people. Stop going out and grinding for nothing.
