Exactly. I also don't think it should be easier. Just hunt in geo caves on Yavin4, hurton stalkers on dantooine, or rancor on Dathomir. It is possible to complete a branch before the next phase.

Actually if your a working adult with kids and dont have the 80 bijillion hours to play you are at a huge disadvantage here and it will take forever to get FS done. I seriously doubt they will do anything to make it easier as the longer it takes you, the longer you play the game, the more $$ you pay them. I'd rather have the hologrind myself than these goofy things but thats just me.

I'm a TKM/Msword. on dant runing hurton stalker missions I can cap my xp in both in about 90 min. can do it a bit faster if I realy focus but 90min is my avrage. thats 120k FS xp each time I do that. Normaly I only do that once or twice a day. only have to cap out 10 times like that to fill a branch so 5-10 days only speending a few hours a day on it. not that bad at all. now the crafting lines I agree are a bear but theres various ways to macro that if you try hard enough (and I mean add resorces and all)

To Upgrade something implies that you are adding too, enhancing, and fixing the thing that you are upgrading. The CU does not do this, it is not adding too, enhancing, or fixing the combat system that is in place, it is replacing the innovative SWG system with the generic one used by its competitors. Be honest and stop calling it the CU, Call it the CR (combat replacement) instead

Stop whining if you dont want to grind all the xp to get jedi the answer is simple. DONT DO IT. But it is so quick to do. Follow this math. In 3 hours most people can max 2 combat professions which means 1.8 mill weapons xp and 120k combat xp = 120 FSXP. Assume you only do that once a nite. Then it takes approximately 10 days to do a branch! At last check each phase was approx21 days. That means you can get two branches per phase. Now this assumes that you play every nite for 3 hours. But even if you dont play every nite then I am sure you can find a few hours here and there within 21 days. And if you really cant find it then I know plenty of people who have just set AFK combat macros up in the geo caves and gone away and got on with their lives (or slept).

Shut the hell up, jez you damn noobs whine TOOOOO much, try grinding out 23 profession, then have them tell you they are switching it, man, its a joke now how fast people can get Jedi.

Not hard , combat professions take at most 2 days to master as any Jedi will tell you.

Hmm, that works out at 46 days based on combat profs.

The only problem with them is they are all pretty much useless skills.

I'm in a similar position... well, no kids yet... but I just got married, bought a house, and have a demanding career. After the past few weeks, I've concluded thatthe developers designed the FS system and Jedi for kids and people with no real life commitments.

Unfortunately, there's nothing else left to do in this game. The GCW is dead and I've seen everything the game has to offer.I didn't expect a cake walk, but I also don't appreciate the mindless xp grind that the developers turned the FS/Jedi system into. They showed absolutely no creativity when they created the new system.

I just can't see sticking with SWG and the mindless FS system when WoW or EQ 2 is released.

For those who are not aware of it,if you group with a pet, any pet, you get the group xp bonus. You can't get uber missions but if you run across a herd of wild pikets ...

If you think it is bad for a combat profession, you should see the others..... I have my secrets where I ground 2 lines of XP in one phase (now mind your this phase is the sucky melee combat crappy quest, so that was frustrating). The sucky part is it is like folks said, sitting in one place and killing everything in sight. If you are a crafter thought, you may be looking at 120+ hours per line of crafting. If you try to do that each phase, it is like a full time friggin job, and at least a job gives you breaks

So here is the key to getting through the grind.

1.) Realize, you have to wait 3 weeks till you can unlock the next branch, so there is no point in rushing it unless the next branch is your last.

2.) Realize there really is not any other new content in the game that either you have not played a hundred times before, or spawns more than once a day, so there is not much better to do

3.) Understand, it sucks for everyone, so at least you have plenty of support around you and you are not uniquely getting screwed.

4.) Beat yourself up for not hologrinding, when it was actually easier and somewhat interesting, cause at least you got to try a new profession, and see some new combat animations.

After all that, you can probably pull through, and heck, in a week or so you can jump into space for a diversion, and get lost in bad heads up displays, and a decaying flight system!

Ya when I said hunting in groups blows I meant with other players. You would get much more xp just staying grouped with a droid or pet.

See I disagree that a casual gamer can't move through the FS boxes. I have a career as a call center director, work like 50-60 hours a week, have 2 kids and season tickets to the Illini Football and Ice Hockey games. I have a very active social life and I still find time to play the game. Some times it's an hour a night (after everyone has gone to bed), sometimes it's a stretch of 3-4 hours. Either way, I enjoy a balance between personal life and game life. Everyone is in a rush to be a Jedi and I'm not sure why. I'm not going to be the first Jedi on my server. I'm not going to be the most powerful Jedi on my server. Why rush it? This is a hundred times better than grinding through meaningless professions that I have no interest in. Yes this is still grinding, but at least I get to grind doing something I enjoy.
