Yeah! Now you just grind out the same amount of experience as Grinding out 32 profession! (well pretty close)

Frankly I see very little difference. Both systems were nothing but Grind, Grind, Grind, GRIND GRIND GRIND GRIND and after all that, GRIND SOME MORE!

its a simple comprimise. require more proffesion badges. 1 is not enough, especially when it can be a easy one like scout or marksman.

If getting glowy required say 5 proffesion bbadges, 2 base and 3 elite/hybrid, it would solve a lot of problems.

I'd rather have them take out the xp conversion, and add more quests.

Grinding is ridiculous, and in no way does it enhance a person's gameplay.

No Grind > holos/FS grinding.

It's supposed to be a "Quest Based" system. But the quests are the minimal part of it. A fully-implemented quest system would be much more constructive. Especially with quests that challenge the mind instead of just our CL

It'snot like it's going to get worse. I bet half or more of the population on EVERY server is a jedi already -_-...
So holo's would barely make a difference anyway-_-

The Holoplague did so much damage to SWG in terms of communitiy relations, cantina etiquette, item pricing and so on that the idea to bring it back makes me feel queasy.

The idea behind the current system was stated to be that you continued to play your character as you wanted to play them and there would be reward for this. For example, mycharacter on Valcyn spends a lot of time hunting in the wilds and I enjoy this. Pre-Villagethe onlytangible gainwascredits through misson reward or selling harvested resourcesas I had mastered my professions, but after the village it means that I gain benefit from the kill & harvesting exp as well. I get to play the character as I want to and no longer is profession mastery the end pointin terms of character development. It will take a loooong time to get to Jedi but I will have enjoyed my time getting there and feel I have earnt it. If everyone had taken this approach then Jedi would be rare throughout the galaxies.

The trouble is thatmany people focus on the end goal and forget that this is a game played for pleasure. They think that they have to grind out exp as quickly as possibleand this misses the point entirely. The Star Wars background is far more than just Jedi, in fact most of the narrative in Ep4-6 is driven by non-Jedi (indeed, ultimate victory in the GCW is down to Rebel commandoes & a fleet action - Luke's duel and Vader's redemptionis importantspiritually but had no real impact on the final outcome)

I honestly believe that the Village and new way of gaining FS skills was a greatidea andsaved the galaxies fromhologrinding, not a moment too soon. I'll admit that I would like the conversion rate to be more generous and the CU raises some issues that seem to need resolving but still it is better than the hologrind.

You hit the nail right on the head (and I love your term "holoplague").

The only problem with the current village system is that there are so many Jedi at this point, that there's virtually no harm that can come with more coming into the game. And more will come, trust me.

Another problem is, there is still a large playerbase that aren't "grinders" in that sense. And many of those players are people from launch. And many of those players are people who bought the game, hoping to get a Jedi.

So, there are a few 2yr vets still playing, who don't want to "grind" anymore. And who have done all there was to do in the ground game, many of whom are tired of the simple drudgery of things at this point. But they'd still enjoy that soft hum of a training saber.

Personally, I think it would be a nice gesture on the part of SOE to unlock the original FSCS for people who have had accounts active for 24 months. I don't see any harm coming from those players getting their Jedi.

And with the RP'ers and non-grinders, I think it would be a great way of showing that rewards can come for those who don't focus on grinding, not just those who do.

why not bring holo grinding back, it was more star wars basd then "the village" sh*t and you actually had to do stuff besides throwing nades and doing a few quests it took more time and there were fewer jedi, fewer jedi is right for the time period and it would be pretty dificult for newer people to obtain a jedi

hologrinding was stupid, yes to get jedi u must dance afk over night for a week, then to music.... yeh star wars based... also this takes much more time, people could grind EVERY proffesion in about, 1 month max. and it is difficult for newer people to obtain jedi, cuz by the time they do, they wont be new will they?

Rewarding RP Players and Non-Grinders, THATS A GREAT IDEA! I myself am a little bit of an RP'er. Quietly though, I don't bother non-rp people with my RP mode. Its all in my mind. One example is that I am imperial, so I am always respectul towards superior officers. When doing the Emperor's Retreat themepark, I Always did /bow4 when approaching and leaving the Emperor. Dont laugh, it IS Roleplay afterall.

I did do alot of grinding after the CU but only for the purpose of raising my combat level so I could continue to RP and do quests without getting killed by a Durni or a vrelt. I dont like to grind. It will be a long time before I get jedi because I have no desire to grind FS like everyone else is. I tried it, but I dont like it. Right now, All I have is Combat Prowess Ranged Accuracy 1 and I just earned the XP for that while hunting with friends a couple days ago. I met the Old Fart, and his 2 stalkers during the last phase 4 and a friend took me to the village and our group killed waves and waves of sith.

I have a policy in this game. I always stay humble in spite of my accomplishments because when I was a noob, The one thing I hated was elitist "uber" snobs who acted like they were better than me. So now, as a level 80 Master Rifleman/Master Combat Medic/Marksman 4-3-4-4, while I often mockingly call myself "UBERMAN" on hunting expeditions, I am the first to group with a bunch of noobs and kind of take them under my wing like a friend on Intrepid server did for me (and im sure she knows who she is)

I also dont let my level go to my head. I never understood why anyone thought they should solo a krayt. I was incapped right off my swoop by a pack of krayts (yes a PACK!) while checking my harvester just days before the CU protests started. I got up and ran like hell until I had enough distance that I could see them but they couldnt SMELL me and I proceeded to take screens to remember the moment by. About 10 minutes later I was DBed by a band of tusken raiders while I was telling the krayts to say cheese. Sure I was no where near 80 (my CL right after the CU was 11) But I understood even then that I would never survive a krayt by myself and that didnt bother me a bit. I realized some creatures just shouldnt be F**ked with unless you have a small army to back you up

Interesting idea, perhaps as an alternative 2yr reward? Making it an automatic unlock perhaps would raise a lot of problems (as much as Ireally like the idea on a personal level) and some may not wish tounlock a FSCSanyway, but having it something you can choose to have in place of another reward might be good. Or, allow the new slot to open up without any force involved - a thankyou to 2yr players that will allow them to explore new things without changing their original characters.

What would have been best would have been a hidden system that over-time tallied player interactions, quests undertaken, the variety of creatures/NPCs hunted, range of items created, etc. and then set some staged tests to gauge charitability OR meaness and once a total is hit then either light side or dark side representatives approach the character. Make it as complex a formula as possible and never, ever, release the criteria - make it seem almost random - having the intervention of a CSR or player Jedi required would be even better but perhaps impractical. Would not suit power-gamer players (not meant in a negative sense) or the Become-Jedi obsessedbut as an alternativeway of becoming a Jediwould be refreshing.

THE GRIND NOW IS NOT BAD

why the hell are people whining all day and all night about it?

it goes quick and is short (I completed it with 7 weeks left before I could even unlock)

NO I did not nade grind, even people who don't nade grind can complete the grind in NO TIME (yes, I DO go to school so its not like I'm sitting there 24/7)

the holo-grind was annoying due to the insane amounts of credits it could cost you, but that was also short because you could AFK most of it

if you can't deal with the grind now QUIT TRYING TO BECOME A JEDI, the jedi grind is only MUCH, MUCH, MUCH longer
