How about just allow everyone to have 2 char per server. The only reason I am grinding towards jedi is because I don't want to pay for an alt. I think allowing an extra char per server would cut the jedi population greatly.

I would have to agree with everyone else. That would be a no with holo's. I did my 4 plus a few more to even try to open up jedi before all the changes. The grind now is atleast more realistic and has a theme with the quests.

And now if you didnt want to grind professions to open up jedi, then you dont have the willpower to grind for jedi now.

Nope. Holos were very bad for the game. Just about everyone was afk. Nobody played any profession for any length of time. Resource prices were out of control. Others farmed holos to sell in their spare time. The whole game was full of people afk doing a lot of nothing.

This way might be silly in some respects, but at least people build a template and play it as they work towards Jedi if that is what they want or justget fs skills to enhance their non-Jedi skills if they prefer. I did the hologrind and a Jedi grind after it. By the time I reached a point where I had a character I could actually play all my friends were gone and there was nobody to play against anyway because everyone was afk dancing in cantinas or crafting.

The Holoplague did so much damage to SWG in terms of communitiy relations, cantina etiquette, item pricing and so on that the idea to bring it back makes me feel queasy.

The idea behind the current system was stated to be that you continued to play your character as you wanted to play them and there would be reward for this. For example, mycharacter on Valcyn spends a lot of time hunting in the wilds and I enjoy this. Pre-Villagethe onlytangible gainwascredits through misson reward or selling harvested resourcesas I had mastered my professions, but after the village it means that I gain benefit from the kill & harvesting exp as well. I get to play the character as I want to and no longer is profession mastery the end pointin terms of character development. It will take a loooong time to get to Jedi but I will have enjoyed my time getting there and feel I have earnt it. If everyone had taken this approach then Jedi would be rare throughout the galaxies.

The trouble is thatmany people focus on the end goal and forget that this is a game played for pleasure. They think that they have to grind out exp as quickly as possibleand this misses the point entirely. The Star Wars background is far more than just Jedi, in fact most of the narrative in Ep4-6 is driven by non-Jedi (indeed, ultimate victory in the GCW is down to Rebel commandoes & a fleet action - Luke's duel and Vader's redemptionis importantspiritually but had no real impact on the final outcome)

I honestly believe that the Village and new way of gaining FS skills was a greatidea andsaved the galaxies fromhologrinding, not a moment too soon. I'll admit that I would like the conversion rate to be more generous and the CU raises some issues that seem to need resolving but still it is better than the hologrind.

Because it was the most un-Jedi like system possible. Further the holo-grind did nothing but cause problems in SWG, and is the root of the hate directed to Jedi, and the imballance in the finicial systems in the various galaxies. Beyond all of that, it was not fun, cheapened all the professions, and had no redeeming qualities.

Off the cuff, I'd say that covers the basics.

I fail to see how killing thousands upon thousands of Bols on Dantooine is any more or less "Jedi-like" than dancing for hours on end, or making thousands of Rifle Barrels.

HOLY SH!T they make it so everyone and there brother can be a jedi and u still arnt happy because u gotta wait 6 and half months to get it. im all for bringing back hologrind because in this time period there arnt suposed to be many jedi at all. with holo grind jedi were rare, thats the way its suposed to be, with this EASY system everyone is a jedi, it sux, everyone who has never experianced the holo grind first hand need to stop whining. the holo grind was a good thing the village is not.

Hologrinding was horrible - horrible concept, horribly easy, horribly boring, fubar'd the economy to an end it still has not recovered from. The village is more quest based as it should be, and makes more sense than hologrinding. People will always find a way to do things the fastest way possible. If you choose to do nothing, but throw grenades then you have no one but yourself to blame for your boredom or ease into the ranks of the Jedi. If they really want to keep Jedi rare and keep the numbers in check all they need to do is go back to saber TEF/skill loss, I guarantee that would do the trick but they won't do it because the leet noobs would cry when they did something stupid and lost skills and would cancel accounts and SOE doesn't want to lose money.
