Toppdogg earn your conversation please. This has been bugging me: Find the post where the devs said you could drop FS skills.... cause I don't remember seeing one.

First of all, many of the people posting topics like this DO remember reading them, so I shouldn't have to go trying to dig them up. Secondly, what is in dispute here isn't what they said before, it's what they're NOT SAYING NOW. If they changed their minds & wanted to cover up that fact, they could easily go back & delete the posts that are now incorrect, like they have done many times before. But, I will give it a shot & see what I can dig up in the interest of backing up the playerbase:

6. Not at all. A Jedi can revoke all Force related and Force Sensitive related skills and continue playing as a normal character.

So they intend you to be able to drop everything and go back to normal, but it seems to be bugged right now.

The original link to Tiggs thread has been deleted, what a suprise...

"Always in motion is the future". On January 23rd, we announced that the Jedi system would be revamped from the current system to a more quest based way to become a Jedi. As you may guess, this system will be kept under wraps, but we can dispel some of the rumors and talk about the philosophy. Off the top, players will continue force development on their existing characters and a new character slot will become available to the player to develop as they choose. A player will only have two slots ever available but they can develop both slots as they wish. The system as it currently exists will be completely swept away (with the old republic?).

This first phase of the Jedi revamp focuses on the core of the Jedi system. Being a Jedi will dramatically change as the possible paths to Jedi mastery will now have many different elements to suit different play styles. Advancing down the path of Jedi will start with basic force sensitivity which will be open to all players to create a sense of the force. If players wish to pursue it, they can develop their force sensitivity in minor ways without sacrificing their original character concepts and even enhance their characters to have that certain special something that isn't quite tangible - - a sensitivity to the force as seen in the movies and EU. Should they wish to continue, players can follow a PvE path of Jedi development from Padawan through learning the various force disciplines to become a full fledged Jedi Knight. Jedi Knight is yet another beginning to a new path of development. Once players have become a Jedi Knight and still hear the call, they can enter a whole new level that splits off to light and dark Jedi paths where forced Jedi PvP will gain you force ranking and possibly a seat on underground Light and Dark Jedi Councils.

May the Force Be With You.

There were many more quotes like this by Thunderheart leading up to the revampthat are all dead links now, that were even more specific about saying that once you did the work to open the second slot you could do whatever you wanted with either char, including making them both Jedi, making the new char a Jedi & returning the main back to a previous template, or making both chars non-FS. This was a huge issue for players that did not want their mains to be the Jedi, & there were many posts saying that even though we would have to do it twice, we would be able to return our mains to their original templates.

Now it's your turn, show me quotes from a dev saying that FS skills cannot be dropped if all the Jedi skills above it are also dropped. You will not find one that CLEARLY states this because they are purposefully avoiding the issue either because it is bugged, or because they wantthe majority of the players to pay for the six months it will take to find out on their own.

Here's a hint, I found ONE very vague possible related post that was buried in an update screen at login, & Tiggs has yet to answer my question regarding it in the thread asking us to post questions about that very same update.

Yeah, that's where you get screwed, they told us we would be able to frop all of Jedi & any FS skills we wanted on either slot, but now they've changed their minds & won't let us. This is a big problem for roleplayers who got caught in the switchover since grinding FS twice &droppingPadawan ontheir mains was their last chance to get the Jedi thay have been waiting to create & keep their mains intact. Now they would have to delete their mains & start over, & nobody knows if this would even work yet.

Some points to consider.

People in the community that are raising their voice, or adress problems with a game, usually does this because they care about the ame they are playing, In a twisted way unhappy people complaining are secure income for the company that brings you the product. If they brought you a perfect game, no flaws no bugs, everything worked 100% and you still didnt have fun or was bored, you would just cancel you account and move on.

So by giving you problems by giving you errors in the game they ensure to keep your interest of the game up, you will keep on playing in hopes that at some point the game will be fixed some time in to the futrure.

lets compare it with a building, the building have 20 floors, but the stairs to level 20 is broken, now we have lots of players running to level 19 but are stuck so they sit around waiting for the stairs to be completed so they can reach level 20, some just sit and wait others keep running up and down from bottom to level 19 many times, but they are both good paying customers in doing so.

What the devs are really concerned about are the resons why all the silent players are leaving because they stop being paying customers, so they try to bring new levels in to the game to make sure those people stay as paying customers as well, so instead of giving the old base the same base that keep paying each month what they want they make another building so now we have two buildings to go up in the secondd building will surely miss some staircases as well, have no doubt about that, cause in truth Angry complaining customers are people that care, that are people that hopes for fixes or changes in the game they love, and the devs knows that angry customers pay their monthly fee non the less so they are considered good customers.

its the silent ones those that get bored with the game and leave that concerns them.

5000 people complaining on FS skills tell them, there we have 5000 accounts that are going to be paid in full for least another 15 weeks minimum.

I have stopped caring about fs skills, it take me about a coupple weeks to get glowy, so instead of staying on a character and struggle in a broken staircase, i just change server and do it again. yes they want to prevent me from having two characters because they maybe fear for the database size or that i will stop paying them once i reach my goal.

Well when I have one Glowy character on every server on my account instead of playing with two characters on one server it might prove to be a much more Database problem for them then it otherwise would be.

To me the game goes from new character to gettingglowing, it ends there the entire game, yes there is more content above it, but nothing that works so why bother with it. I probably grow bored and leave the game way before i get one glowy character on every server, but at least its more fun then sitting on level 19 waiting for them to make the stairs so i can go to level 20.

I have the same concerns as toppdog. I want to open a second slot and make a jedi out of my fresh new character and then return my main to his former template. I cannot fathom any reason why this is not allowed. I cannot invision anyway for this system to lead to exploits and thus wonder why the changes cannot be reversed. I first learned this near beggining of 3rd phase and have since stopped grinding FS. If i cannot get jedi the way I want it... well theres not a whole lot keeping me playing this game. Im very aware my threats to leave are not gonna intimidate any dev into action. I may simply join the thousands of people who have left this game for greener pastures.

I would like to see an official post stating the reasons why one's main cannot be returned to its original template after opening the second slot. This game has always been tauted as not 'locking' you in to any one profession. We are supposed to have the freedom to drop professions and start something else. Jedi should not be any different. If we choose to drop skills that took hundreds of hours to grind, well.. WHY CAN'TWE DEVs?

The arguement against having your main character be able to drop Jedi, as I understand it, is that it was never intended as a convience. It was to make sure people that play as a Jedi can still play as a Non-Jedi. Not the other way around, although this is contrary to the earlier explanation of how the system would work. In other words, people not intending to play as a Jedi do not unlock a 2nd to have 2 non-jedi characters. Though there has been no official statement about this discrepancy because of the imminent consequence of people cancelling their accounts.

I for one will not cancel, I just need to know how flexible the system is and if I should stop developing my character in hopes of having 2 non-Jedi characters in the same account.

Patiently awaiting...

Did they? Give me a link to the post. If you can't provide proof of a claim, your claim is worthless rhetoric.

For the most part I can agree with anyone who does not want their Main to become a Jedi.

IMO those that are doing this just to be able to get a second character slot should notbe able to do so and IMO think that is why they don't allow you to drop the FS Skill after becoming Padawan.

It would be nice to be able to make the Second Slot a Jedi rather then your main it's just how it would be done that has issues.

I see one way to do it.

1.On obtaining Padawan your second slot opens.

2.You are giving the option to Transfer Your skills to your second slot. In other words you Transfer all your FS skills and Non-FS skills to your second character. Of course you would have to regrind your Main.

3. If you feel that Jedi is not for you you are able to drop all Jedi and FS Skills but you will lose your second slot. If your second slot is the Jedi Once you reinquish Padawan it will be deleted.

It's just a thought. Not sure if it's doable.

Good questions and there is no reason why we shouldnt get an official answer!!!!

My 2 cents: I think there is an extreme lack of official information about this game in general and I dont understand it. It's simply impossible to progress and play this game in a normal manner without going to 3rd party websites as well as these forums....it's not that the info can't be found but the lack of official info seems strange to me....look at the offical new EQ IIwebsites...lots of great info there for newbies...tons more than the SWG offical site??? I guess EQ II has a bigger budget to do these things???
