Thread: Devs Withholding Information Is Inexcuseable !!!
I understand you feel mistreated if they have said one thing and done another but look at it this way. You get a second character because when you get jedi there is no going back. If you wanted to return to being a simple artisan then you would not b allowed to, so they give you a second character to do with as you please. Also a lot of people (not you, just some people I have spoken with) wanted to do these jedi trials so that they could have a free character without having to pay for it. This must be one of the reasons that the devs changed their plans as it would lead to people cheating the system.

For those who want to drop jedi with their main characters for roleplaying reasons could you explain how this is roleplaying? I read Dakers thread you posted the link to. He is living the story of his character ingame. Like how he writes about sympathising with the rebellion etc etc. Continuing this into the force sensitive quests your character would "embark on quests to understand the force". Going by how you wish to have jedi, he would do these quests and suddenly a guy would appear who is a padawan. This has no continuity to the story of the character. Can you imagine that in a star wars film? Luke skywalker does his force training and then a guy suddenly appears saying "im luke skywalkers alt, ill be staring in the rest of the films". It just doesnt fit in with roleplaying at all opening up a jedi character. It is only right that you carry on as your main and cotinue the story.

Well, everyones case is different... but in my case my mains were created to be thealias' of their true secret Jedi identities. I gave the cover names to my mains & saved their Jedi names for later when I open the second slots. I always intended on playing them as the same char. But I have no reason to continue if I cannot revert my mains to their previous non-FS templates once I get the slots to build their secret Jedi identities.
For others, their mains are the wrong gender or species for what they planned their Jedi to be, & they do not want to be stuck with their mains being FS.
And your example of Luke Skywalker does not apply at all. A more proper analogy would be that a player played a char named Lars Utiini who did many things & went on many adventures until he ran into a guy named Luke Skywalker (new alt). That would be very believable & would fit into roleplaying quite nicely.
We have asked for reasonable solutions at every turn & have been screwed instead every time:
1. We asked that chars created before the revamp be grandfathered in so they could still get the second slot under the old system.
2. We asked for a simple checkbox to choose which char should go down the FS path.
3. We asked for a one time name gender& species change for our mains to turn them into the chars we had planned our Jedi to be.
4. We asked that the second slot be available before starting the FS quests so wouldn't have to alter our mains templates.
And what did we get? Not a goddam thing... lies & broken promises & then silence to our growing questions about those broken promises. That's all we have gotten so far from any red-names.
No way! If you want to find out what you missed previously, go do your own homework. There are indirect links to some of those right here in this very thread. There are plenty of people who have posted their knowledge of this information. The question never was is it true that they promised this, it has always been why have they not kept it.

Did they? Give me a link to the post. If you can't provide proof of a claim, your claim is worthless rhetoric.
I'm not the one claiming to state a fact without hard data to back it up. I don't trust collective memory. Nine times out of ten it is flawed in some way.

Once I've gained my second character slot, both character slots are immediately eligible to gain force sensitive skills and become Jedi?
No. The new character slot will be a standard character. You can choose to go through the Force Sensitive quests again to allow that character to advance their Force abilities, but the entire quest line will need to be repeated with all the normal restraints.
Could you explain how the second slot works?
Players must complete the Force Sensitive Quests (Publish 10) to unlock the extra slot if they have not done so already. Any and all players who put in the effort to complete the quests can gain the second slot and if a player has a second slot already, that slot will not be affected. Players may choose to develop one or both of their character as Jedi.
Yeah...it doesn't say which one of their characters as Jedi, which is what the whole thing is about.

Will my Main slot be FS? Or will I have to redo all the quests if I want him to be Force Enhanced too?
Yes, you're main slot will be force sensitive, but it will be at a Padawan level with all of your original skills intact. You may choose to develop your Main Slot up through Jedi Knight. If you develop this main character up through Jedi Knight, you will have to sacrifice your regular professions. If you want to develop your second slot as your Jedi Knight, you may choose to do all of the Force Sensitive Quests over again thereby unlocking the slot. By completing the Force Sensitive quests you can make your second slot Force Sensitive also. You may even choose to develop your second slot as a full status Jedi knight. You may even choose to develop both of your slots as Jedi if you wish. There are many possible combinations, but because there is a quest based system in place now, your main slot must be the starting point of Jedi character development after Publish 10.
If I don't unlock my Jedi slot by the time Publish 10 is released, will I be forced into making my primary character into a Jedi?
Not entirely. Yes your main character will become your Force Sensitive character. There is nothing that says you must make it a Jedi however. You may still choose to go through the Force Sensitive quests again with your new character slot and then advance that character as a Jedi. We understand the frustration that this paradigm shift may cause, but there is no easy way to solve it.
If I complete the Force Sensitive quests after publish 10 and open up my Jedi slot, will my main slot or my second slot be Force Sensitive?
After Publish 10, "Trials of the Jedi", a player's Main Slot will become Force Sensitive. At this point, a second character slot will open up. You may choose to develop your main character as a Jedi Knight or you may use your second character slot to develop as a Jedi Knight (thus being able to leave your main character in tact), but you will have to complete the quests from the beginning with the second character.
Focus on the 2nd one there. As it is now, upon unlocking your 2nd slot, the primary character is stuck at being a Padawan at least, with at least 6 trees of FS skills that they cannot surrender. The above quotes are what we were told going into this system and no contrary statements have been "officially" given yet. And I don't think its fair to tell people one thing going down this path, and then when you get to that point finding out it works differently. BUT, as long as they have a reason for what they're doing, and give people the option that didn't understand what they were getting into a way to get their Skill Points back, I don't have a problem with it. But its just wrong to say that Everyone has the option to get another 250 SPs for their account if they do these quests, not having to be a Jedi, and then finding out that your main character is stuck being a Padawan.
Phew. So I how you can understand why this has...irked many force sensitive folk. ![]()

If you just went and looked for yourself you'd find plenty of evidence.
But I understand you being reluctant just to listen to the roar of the crowd. I'm a non-conformist too.

You can actually still develop your main, just with the loss of 24 skill points. I understand why everyone is upset, but from the quotes you posted, I still read it like the systemis now. Of course, we all know that developers have weird ways of saying things, and sometimes you feel like they are playin April Fools with you, or doing the reverse psychology thing. Things need to be said with direct definition so there is no question. You can say anything you want, but if the person you are talking to doesn't understand or picks up the wrong vibe from you, its pointless. Good points though.
I'm not so much as concerned with how many skill points you lose, its just the principle of the thing at this point. It is very close to the current system, you're right.
Its just that all these little grey areas are always what end up confusing people. If the Devs had resolved this issue earlier (and I was actually in a position to permenantly lose SPs) I might've sucked it up and said ah well, its just 24 points. But it just seems odd to me that this path is like the one inflexible part of a very flexible profession system. And I just want tothat trend of letting the player pick and choose what he wants and doesn't want out of each area to dictate how they play, rather than the other way around. Its our game dernit, the game isn't playing us =P.
Gah, too much caffeine. Sorry guys. Just...bad memories of EQ Lol.
"No, don't make me tank, i'm a Monk dammit!" Then everyone dies except the monk whos feigned death and I feel guilty. Lol. Aahhhh memories.

Gizmarke wrote:/bump/agreeSorry for hijacking your thread budIts just been frustrating trying to get an answer to this.
Well be prepared to remain frustrated. You will not get an answer here. If you read the very most tippy top of this forum, there is post "Please Read First - Purpose of this forum" Since I guess you didn't read it, I will post it completely here. It's short, so don't worry about this being a long post... atleast not because of the quote...
GarVa wrote:/bump/agreeThis forum is for you to discuss Force-Sensitive skills and quests with each other to get help completing them. There is no correspondent for this forum, if you have any force sensitive issues that you think should be seen by a developer please post that in the Jedi forum.
So my suggestion is to take this thread, over to the Jedi forum. There you will atleast have a chance to get the answer you seek. I just hate to see a person hope for the more or less impossible

Strange... sorry bout that
