Where does it say that in a MMOG that being able to run solo is a bad thing? I don't solo because I want to be able to kill everything in the game by myself. I am content to group for those mobs whose difficulty demands it i.e. Phase 4 village quest. MMOG means Massive Multiplayer Online Game, meaning many people online at the same time playing. It doesn't mean Massive Multiplayer Online Grouping Game. Just because there are a bunch of people online at the same time doesn't mean that I want to get to know them all. After a long day at work the last thing I want to do is put up with someone else...lol

So why not develope a game that supports multiple play styles? Why can't you have a game where some people run solo for the most part andsome group up? Is it just because you can't stand to see someone by himself? We don't all have a herd mentality. I don't need anyone else around me to make me feel wanted and appreciated.

Also if prices drop becuase combat professions don't make as many credit then crafters are no longer going to be willing or able to pay 100cpu for resources. If item prices drop resources prices will also drop. Simple economics.

This is not a flame. I respect the fact that you play the game a certain way, I'm only asking for the same respect.

Different doesn't always mean better. Just something else to learn and do before you realize. Hey! This system stinks just like the old system! Dev's: Wait for the CU 2 to fix that.

As someone who hunts more for XP than cash, I wouldn't mind running my solo missions without a "solo group", if I could get the same missions without one. I usually go for Huurton Stalker missions, so I'm not raking in that much cash anyway. However, I can't get the good Stalker missions with the full 15 Stalkers per lair without a group.

Guess we'll have to start yelling "Looking for XP group!" instead of "Looking for Solo Group!" because XP hunters are the only ones that'll want those big groups after this change. They've been a little tougher to find with everyone in space, but after this I wonder if they'll go the way of the Do-Do?

Pets will not be counted for higher missions or payouts under the new system.

Pets will still adjust the level of the CH, just like stronger weapons do. This is also clarified in the same thread a bit farther down.

RIGHT ON!!!

I should not have to group to play. I should have to group to do the high end content. It should be my choice if I choose to do this.

Someone said this will work it self out. Yeah it will. Everyone is going to get screwed on this NOT JUST COMBATANTS. Here is how. I will not be able to buy factory crates of anything that cost 125k. I will not be able to buy armor that cost 40k a piece not a suit but a piece. So that means I will be back to wearing Ubese Armor, fine with me, not using synthsteak, brandy, canape or spices, and no buffs. In order for these things to sell the non-combatants will have to lower their prices. Prices on resourses will come down, eventually, however, you have a ton of stuff in game that is made at a very high cost. They cannot afford to come down on price, or they lose their butts. So what you have is a situation where chefs, and smiths have built up a business, paid for resources based on the current economy, and are forced to sell for below that cost just to get rid of their old stuff, so they can start turning a profit on the new stuff(which will be built on the lower cost resources).

This is a TOTAL AND COMPLETE SCREW UP!!! Imagine a world where you wake up and you used to make 1000 dollars a week, now you wake up and you go to work at the end of the week you get 100 dollars, you go to the store, the food cost the same. Gas prices cost the same. Electricity cost the same. Everything cost the same. What do you do?

Here is what I will do. I will take up another profession, because combat will but non-profitable. But if you start a business after the pay nerf you can make a lot of money using cheaper resources. So the old time crafters aren't making anything on stuff they already have crafted.

TRUST ME THIS IS A REALLY BAD IDEA!

MMORPG doesn't mean group! Why does everyone say this is good because people are supposed to group?! Not everyone wants to group, what about the roleplayers that want to be solo?!

This nerf only hurts combatants. Crafters still pay the same for harvester maintenance and power...all their items will still cost the same to make. This just means more grinding for combatants. People aren't going to be like, "well I don't make as much money anymore, guess I'll settle for this cdef instead of the t21 rifle". They are going to grind just to get back to what they were getting before.

Ouch bigpun44... that was 1 period and two exclaimation points. Hell of a run on sentance in there. My eyes hurt. Seriously though... just to rebuttal something you said and a few echoed elsewhere:

My primary source of income is from selling harvested resources. How much do I sell them for? 2 cpu for "grinding" quality and upwards of 5 cpu for particularly high quality (as in 3 or more stats 900+) for any mineral and chemical resource. And what's worse... due to my supplying of my guild, I often don't get much in the way of repayment from them. So the only profit gained is what is sold off of my vendor or on the bazaar.

And I make a comfortable living in this manner. Sure I can't afford to buy a gong adhesive on a whim let alone an AV-21 but I can afford my buffs, armor, weapons, pet supplies, travelling, space combat and everything else I do without a problem.

I have done this for well over 9 months of my 16 month career to make money. Yes, I could grind out missions for pay and exp... but I get bored. Harvesting breaks the tedium and provides a good source of income so I don't HAVE to do missions for money.

Ok, so now we are grading the post because I stated something you diagree with?

I will try to be state my opinion for you in manner that suits you.

Making sure to double space after each period, capitalizing and correct punctuation.

It is a damn posting board, weather or not I put a comma here or there or a period there I could careless. The point I was making is that I work 40+ hours a week, and for a hobby I play video games. I like this game so I choose to play it, and the last thing I want to do is come home and mess with a harvestor interface for four hours just to be able to afford armor for the profession I choose.

I had just stated that I do not see harvesting as a viable source of money for the way some play this game. If you have found a way, Hooray!! for you and I am glad you have the time to invest to play with a havestor and worry about clicking to put things on a vendor, setting a price, making sure that none of the auctions are up with out selling and replacing them on the vendor. please read the post don't pick and choose pieces of it and make assumption. SOE has to keep in mind that if they want a large community for all there servers they will have to make changes that will not affect a majority of it paying customers or what has happened in the last few days where I log in and poeple are selling all there items for a credit and buffing for free cause they are leaving is going to be a common theme.

The patch shouldn't make TOO big of an impact for grinders, it'll dent the money we make, but not bankrupt us. I can get around 200k+ of combat xp per buff session (TKM, not grenades), works out to quite a few lairs, usualy Hurrton Stalkers.

Might only get like 500 credits per mission, thats 1k for every trip out to do 2 missions, aslong as you can do 24 missions (of Hurrton Stalker atleast), that'll be enough to pay for buffs. Depends on how much you spend on food, armour, weapons, etc, but we shouldn't be out of pocket, aslong as you're a Master of a combat prof and can do lairs quick, should break even. Once the galaixes start to adjust, it should be ok.

Weaponsmiths are gunna get hit a bit though, they're most likely used to making millions from grenades and now people won't be able to waste their money on them, they'll either have to lower prices (unlikely considering the hassle grenade making takes) or stop making them. Could drive up prices on PHs, VKs, etc, but hopefully after a month or so the market will adjust.

Nice to see this stop to the inflation. Should make to a more stable market eventualy.

Idiots.

"Economy will stabalize itself"

"MMORPG not SOLO"

To the idiots who said that... PFFFFFFFFFFTTTT.

The amount of people with over a million credits in the bank WILL run the economy an maintain the current pricing levels for a long time to come. I don't know about you people, but I HIGHLY doubt I will be playing this game1 year from now, since that's how long it will probably take for the "economy will stabalize itself" There are FAR too many multi-millionaries in this game for the value of the credit to sink down that low. The RICH will stay rich because they can afford MORE things for LESS credits. The POOR will not be able to compete with the RICH on many auctions and/or items they wish to obtain, therefore, lowering the quality of gameplay for the POOR people.

Where did you morons who LIKE this idea learn economics? Sesame Street? Geez. Lame ass kids.

To the dumbasses who said "MMORPG not SOLO"

Who the hell are you to criticize my playstyle to fit yours? As someone stated before...

MMORPG=Massively Multiplayer On-Line Role Playing Game

Where the hell does it say I have to group with people in order to play the game? My interpretation is...

You pay $15/month. I pay $15/month

You like to play grouped. I don't like to be grouped.

You like searching for people to "help" you. I like being self-sufficient.

You want to wait around for people. I like to login and go because my playtime is valuable.

What we have here folks is one play style vs. another play style. Which is right? Which is wrong?

Guess what? NEITHER IS WRONG! BOTH ARE PERFECTLY FINE! WHY? BECAUSE WE PAY THE SAME AMOUNT PER MONTH YOU FRICKIN IDIOTS!

You are no better than me. I am no better than you.

Nuff said noobs.

wow... this will seriously hit the economy... think about it ..the buffs, the armor decay... if one is taking the highest paying missions, let say at 30k for cavement.. if there is a group of 10, thats only 3k for your take. previously one grind session one can get about 18 runs of 2 missions each , which is rougly 1mio, now for the same run i only get 100k..... hmmmm interesting.... anyway, i wonder if this is going to change whatharvesters will charge for meat, and hide? knowing now, that it will take more to recover their equipment decay? interesting..

This is simply a bad idea. Sure, the prices are ridiculous and out of whack, but cutting the money gained from 1 mil to 100k (going by what the previous poster said, that figure could be wrong) is just screwing the combat players. By the time the economy settles down, most players will have left (of course, they may be doing this for this very reason, since EQ2 just came out). And currently, these multi-million credit having crafters will have enough to see them through for some time. They won't even need to worry about lowering their prices, as they can simply take a break from it and let it run its course. Prices on high end loot will NOT drop, trust me.

Part of the problem is the piss poor mission payment design, the other is pure and simple greed. Why do you need millions of credits, when it's not even real world currency? But there you have it.

And for those of you who are saying it ties in with the combat balance:

We aren't seeing the fruits of this labor until sometime next year. Maybe even as late as March, 2005, assuming this isn't a myth (I'm a day 2 vet, and I'm beginning to think this is about as real as Zeus and Mount Olympus). If this is the reason, this is a piss poor time of introducing it, when we've yet to physically see any combat changes that would make this system "viable". If this is tied into the combat revamp, then it should be happening within two months before this balance is released. As it stands now, buffs, high end armor, and good weapons are absolutely necessary to play this game as a combat template.

The only thing this is going to do is cause people to quit. I don't log onto this game to have to WORK, or WORK HARDER, I log on to have FUN. If I have to log on and take missions simply to barely survive in this game, then it becomes work. I become a slave to the system, when I shouldn't have to. Especially when you consider that there is precious little content in this game, and if you've been around as long as I have, you most likely have gone through all the content available. If you're in a guild, you've probably done it all several times helping guild mates (I for one will puke if I ever have to see the Warren again).

And, (caps for emphasis) WE ARE ALL SUPPOSED TO BE THE HEROES OF OUR OWN STORY!! How much of a hero would Han, Leia, Luke, et al, have been if they had to work 12 hour days to just afford the bare minimum? SOE is just f*cking us in the @ss with this.
