However in the short term, the crafters will get squeezed. The best ones have invested in top quality resources, including harverted organics that can be quite expensive. So for stuff made with those resources, they will be reluctant to sell at a loss, but at the same time fewer people will be able to afford those items, so they won't get as many sales. Perhaps this will lead to a wider offering of goods in terms of quality. The good stuff (80% composite for example) for folks that stocked up on credits and mediocre (50% Ubese for example) for those having to do picket missions to earn their credits.

I agree. No matter what way you look at it, it all filters down. We dont make the money to buy our weapons/armor/etc. Then crafters get screwed because they cant afford to run their harvesters. If they dont make weapons, we go un protected. the best way they can correct that is by lowering maintenence on harvesters. As for now though, someone is getting screwed (as that would be combat players first. then crafters once we can afford what they have.)

I always felt the prices in this game were rediculous. They dont resemble a real economy at all. People running a business should be millionaires OVER TIME, and combat players should be weathly but not overly so. We (the combat players) should be able to afford what WE NEED, and not run around as millionaires. We arent business oriented. How many of you 9-5 40 hour a week workers out there are millionaires? None, im sure. Where as the companies we go to to buy our need (food, clothing, etc.) are million or billion dollar companies because they are infact, businesses. The problem is, we have so many businesses in this game, we fight for consumers. In real life, it doesnt happen that way. So in order for any one person to make money in this game, they have to raise their prices on items. The bigger your company is and the more consumers you have, the less you can charge. Somehow they need to balance this out so that us non-business oriented players can pay for our items. I think lowering maintenence charges on harvesters is a good start.

I mean aside from combat, entertainers make the worst money of all. So how is it fair to them that these prices are so high? This needs to be balanced for EVERYONE, not just combat and crafters alike.

Just my 2 credits on the situation, but in the long run i think this will be a great step towards a more fair and realistic economy. If they do it right anyways. :-P

It seems to me that this is, in part, preparation for the combat upgrade. IIRC, the idea of the upgrade was so that no one... and I meanNO ONE... would be able to solo certain creaturesbeyond aparticular difficulty i.e. Rancors, Kimogilas, etc.

So since this will be implemented, there will be further incentive to stay together as a group. My only hope is that the Devs increase the payout for group missions after the combat revamp... oh and actually one more hope.. they increase the distance that members can be from the mission lair from 250m to about 500m as kiting, IMO, is a perfectly acceptable tactic on difficult creatures and there have been times that I've pulled creatures/npcs more than 250m from their lair.

Shouldn't the devs be focusing on making the game better, more fun before they worry about making it yet more tedious, grinding and more Lame?

This is great news!!!

This is supposed to be an MMORPG....not a SOLO game.

The reward for the missions is the xp and the harvest. You can get 1k of meat from a mission which sells for upwards of 100cpu, so that is your payout. Not to mention the loot rewards obtained from NPC missions that sell for millions.

Not everyone should be ENTITLED to have armor, uber weapons, etc. It should be something that is EARNED.

This will help the game, not hurt it. The wares sold by crafters will have actual VALUE again. The prices for buffs, armor, weapons, and even loots will become competitive again. Crafters will be forced to concentrate on the QUALITY of their wares rather than mass produced mediocre wares.

Docs and entertainers will become real players in the gaming experience again. Much like the Phase 4 quest,it will become necessary to have them nearby and in groups to achieve mission success.

Once this patch hits, get a group, meet new players, and MMORPG all the way.

In the end this will all pan out. 5k we be worth as much as 30k were pre-solo group nerf.

Noones gonna get hurt, the economy just need a little time to settle, we need to come up with new prices etc.

It doesnt matter if you bought resources worth of 30 mill, they will still be worth "the same", cause your buck will be worth alot more.

Just give it time, this is how the system was intended to work from the beginning.

Time is the key!

Lets face it the mission terminals "PWN" this economy! I remember reading astromech stats on the homepage earlier this year about the state of our economy and like 60-70% is mission driven, and consequently drives the cost of living.

Once prices stabilize it will be like it never happened...one disadvantage to all of this though:

There are many players who have stockpiled millions and billions ( dr.evil - :smileymad )of credits and with the eventual (shortlived) inflation/ (long term) deflation of the credit...they can afford to not only ignore these changes financially, but will THRIVE in this "new economy" for sometime.

Mmmm...the world being controlled by 5% of its population, sound familiar???

I cannot understand the whole harvesting thing because that is not a payout. I have to wait any where from 1-6 days if at all to see credits on it I mean putting it on the bazaar hopefully but then I have to find a person who will not cheat me to put a vendor and get the credits for it and the pay them a fee for placing the items, harvesting is great but I cannot accept that as a viable source of income to replace what they are taking away from us in the combat profession from missions that's great that they will lower the credit per mission but there is already an economy in place, not the best I agree but if you nerf the creds then crafters have to lower their prices and from what I have seen since feburary the prices have only gone up for things I understand with paying out more they asked for more creds for items but in the same respect you now put the weight back on another part of the community who in my opinion make far too much off us combat people, I mean this is not going to help bring any new people and I guess they don't really care (SOE) but can you imagine looking at a vendor when you first ride in to a player city and see the prices on stuff when you got your 1000 credit starting base and go HOW MUCH FOR THAT LVL 2 Rifle 10k and a buff 15K and the list can continue just another well thought out plan I guess, doesn't surprise me glad I am paying for these wonderful decisions that us as a community have no control over and there are plenty of opinions and wish lists and what not out there for SOE to judge what is needed I just wish they would listen to the people playing the game itself and not some list on a marketing directors white board!!

this is all happening because it will effect the combat rebalance one way or the other. this NEEDS to happen. Like it was said earlier in the thread, it will take time for it to settle but once it does it will be as if nothing even happened. This economy in the game is complete BS and sorely unrealistic by any means. As the economy stands now, if you arent a millionaire, you CANNOT play this game. Not by any way that is considered reasonable. The day 1 veterans can understand and sympathize with this because thats the way we experienced the game from day 1. And thats when NO ONE had money. So picture starting that way now. It just wont happen. We need to relax thsi economic boom so that EVERYONE stands a chance, ESPICALLY the new folk. As it stands now, only millionaires can do anything. PvP, PvE, Piloting, you name it. I feel bad for the people who buy this game solely for JTLS. Becuase they definetly cant get anywhere without some serious janta grinding..which im sure they have no idea what that is, or that it even exists.

The economy needs to be balanced, along with the combat.

It's still on TC, it could be that it doesn't go live after all.

"There were young knights among them who had never been present at a stricken field. Some could not look upon it, some could not speak. They held themselves apart from the others who were cutting down prisoners at my lord's orders, for the prisoners were a body too numerous to be guarded by those of us who were left.
Then Jean de Rrye, an aged knight of Burgundy who had been sore wounded in the fight, rode up to the group of young knights and said: "are ye maidens with your downcast eyes? Look well upon it. See all of it. Close your eyes to nothing. For the battle is fought to be won, and this is what happens if you lose."

Wow I think my rectum hurts after reading that, SOE gave it to the combat crowd no lube style. This is gonna suck for a LONG time. Between ship parts, armor and foods I was having a hard time keeping money in the bank before but now it's gonna be 10x worse. Im glad to see you guys think that prices will drop eventually because I sure as hell don't see it happening.I think it's too late for that, theres too much money already out in the economy to do that now. I predict good business in the near future for all the companies that sell credits for SWG. I already pay for a second account just because I don't want to waste an hour or more fetching buffs everytime I play, now it looks like Im gonna need a 3rd to start crafting because it's now the only way to make good money. Boy I hope this turns out as good as you guys are saying it is.

One thing they should do to balance this is make repairing armor and weapons more effecient. The fact that I have repaired chest plates 3 times and 2 of those 3 my chest platefell apart is pathetic. There is no way I will be able to afford armor with them falling apart at that rate.

Gooney,

Tiggs posted some follow-up remarks regarding theovert/covert and grouping changes.

The link to that post is:

Specifically she said there:

Regarding Pets and grouping

Pets are not calculated in either mission difficulty or payout, only the Creature Handler
