Thread: Petition to make the New Slot Jedi and the old slot Non-Jedi

The analogy I made is dead on if you think of us being Lucas & the Hollywood producer being SOE. In both cases the players & Lucas had specific ideas for their Jedi character... & in both cases someone with the powers to change the rules(SOE& Hollywood exec) did so without allowing the players or Lucas to edit & revise their character ideas. So, in the same way that weareforced to make ourmains as Padawans if we wanta Jedi, Lucas would have been stuck with Vader saying "Random guy No. 4... I am your father!"
I really do not understand what you're trying to say here at all..
We are still able to master any profession we want and attain the same template that our main had with the alternate unlocked character. The big fuss is that it will be more work.. Welcome to Jedi..
No, the big fuss is that SOE changed the rules they made a year later & are stopping players from adjusting their old chars to fit the new rules.
Lets say that you bought this game with the idea of playing a Jedi you already created in your head. His name is Oris Physk... an ex-Imperial Commando who has seen the evil side of the Empire &wants to join the Rebelion. but you never got to create him yet because you followed the rules of the game which stated that your main couldn't become a Jedi but would instead open another slot that could.
So, you save your ideas for Oris & decide to make your main a different character that would be fun to have as a sidekick to Oris later on. Her name is Aeisbacca, a female wookiee musician who also has artisan skills & can build weapons.
You play Aeisbacca& become well known on your server as top notch weaponsmith & former musician... as you temporarily dropped musician in order to go throughsome other professionshoping to open that second slot so you can create Oris, the character you've been waiting to make since day one.
About a year later, SOE decides to completely flip flop the rule on which slot gets Jedi, but by now you don't want to give up your main or permenantly ruin the template you wanted her to have. You want her to be a master musician, master artisan, & master weaponsmith, which costs 246 skill points.
So, if you still want to have both chars, what are your choices now that SOE has done a 180?
- You could completely delete Aeisbacca & replace her with Oris with the intention of recreating her later on when you open the 2nd slot... as long as nobody has taken her name by then.
- You could open the 2nd slot with her & just accept the fact that she has a permanently lost 24 skill points & can never get back the template you want.
- You could keep her until Oris has also reached Padawan & then delete her, & recreate her as the second slot char once the server lets you (at least this way you get all 250 points back).
- You could buy a second account & make Oris the main there instead... with the possibility of transferring Aeisbacca to that account later on to get back to only paying for one account... if you don't mind permenantly losing your original login name etc.
All of these choices are risky & much more complicated than simply offering the player a choice as to which slot should become FS or leaving it the way it was.

Because, if we are being forced to make our mains the Jedi without being able to drop it, then that is a perfect one time fix for those that got caught in the transition between publish 8 & 10. If players are allowed to change their mains into the Jedi's they had in mind to begin with & then recreate their mains with the 2nd slot, there would be no problem.

Yeah, i agree with you, or i would like to change my name/looks, i dont really like the way i have it. And i know some people out there dont want Wookiee's as Jedi, or w/e species they have.
Don't know about a species change but it would be nice if, when you complete the last trial, you were given the option to change your name and/or move your new Jedi's name to the 2nd slot and pick a new one for your Jedi. And as far as looks go, I plan on hitting a ID sometime this week.
Why should Jedi be able to switch theirname/species? Is there any logic behind it or is it just another"Because I want to..." request?
And I agree with ^^^^ for the most part... SOE normally ignores petitions.
Very true... If they wouldn't do anything about it back then when everyone was screaming about it, it's highly unlikely that anything will happen now.

All you gotta know is SOE ignores/does not care about player made petitions, so your wasting your time. That is all.

I completely understand what you're saying and I do sympathize. But if you remember back when there were still no Jedi, no one in there right mind actually believed that they would be a Jedi. To create an "alt" character with the off chance ofunlocking Jedi one day is a very high risk to take.
Another thing.. why create the female wookiee rather than Oris Phy'sk? Or even Or'is Physk? There are plenty of options that won't set yourself up for disappointment.
I still think that complaining about this change is futile.. It's almost like those players who complained about the eyeshot nerf or creature handler nerfs.. Take all of the games patches and updates or don't take any of them...
I agree that complaining is futile... I'm just pointing out some of the situations that came about so people can understand where others are coming from. As for the slight changes in names, many players have done that... but there are those hardcore RP'ers out there that wouldn't accept doing it. As for me, I found a solution that involved starting the Jedi chars I wanted to create on alt accounts where I can transfer my mains later if I want... it's not a solution that works for everyone, but it works for me.
It's still good to keep these debates alive sometimes though. Even if we all don't agree on certain things, at least we care enough about the game to have heated discussions about our opinions. And sometimes the devs do pay attention... Who'd of thought we'd be getting increased storage, decreased lot usage, no lot usage for MP ships, & a buttload of bugs fixed. Sometimes it pays off to keep hot topics alive.
My main was a MBH. With his own background and reputation. And i've been playing since Day 1...
But i wanted a Jedi, so i began the hologrind, because i knew the Jedi would be on my 2nd slot.
That was totally fine by me.
Unfortunately, i unlocked 4 days after publish 9...
My main became the Jedi but i trusted SOE when they said that we could make the 2nd slot a Jedi too and then do whatever we wanted with our main.
So i grinded back my MBH on my main and waited to have a Jedi on my 2nd slot to try to surrender Jedi Padawan on my main like i was supposed to be able to...
Well, guess what ? You ain't never able to surrender Jedi once u get padawan...
I'm stuck with a MBH, Pistoleer 4044, Nov Carb & Jedi Padawan and 24 sp used in totally useless FS skills. And i got a Jedi on each slot...
CSRs can't do anything, i've sent tickets, ingame emails, irl emails...
I've even written PM messages to Thunderheart, Tiggs. I even asked Songouki (Jedi Corres) to talk to the Devs...
Their answer is "the system works as designed" and they don't want to satisfy my request eventhough i've been a trustful and faithful player since Beta 3 stage...
So what now ? I don't know. I'll prolly reroll my main but i'm gonna lose its name and its badges (Cries Of Alderaan)
Any ideas/suggestions would greatly help, but at the end of the day, i end up with the 4 possibilities you wrote up there (with a 5th one which is just cancelling the account).
God, i'd even PAY at least 100$USD to get rid of the Jedi on my main character...
