Thread: Do any FSXP grinders feel the same way I do about the CU?
I am not doom and gloom regarding just about any other aspect of the CU, I think it is required and has been long needed, and hope they use the CU as more of a ramp towards additional (worthwhile, not grinding) content in SWG. If the secondary thrust of the CU is to protract grinding of the grinders already working away within the confines of this current system, that is where I would have a major problem.

Fact: Jedi is a grind.
Having spoken to some of the Jedi of my galaxy, the Aurilian quests and the grind for them is a joke compared to the grind for Padawan and the nthe grind for Knight, much less if you're a 1337 and want Master. If you're complaining about this grind, you shouldn't even attempt Jedi. If you can't handle the grind for your 6 trees, don't bother trying. I am a FSXP grinder right now. I've almost mastered one tree, and I've unlocked 4, and I've been FS sincelast November. Don't GRIND it or you get bored. I do grind a lot, I get in a solo group, buff myself, and do Enraged Rancor lairs. I LIKE it. Do it so that it's fun. If you can't grind the xp, then just play the game until you get the xp. Sure, it'll take a while. Want a Jedi? It's going to take a while no matter what. Stop complaining needlessly. It takes up space on the forums, it makes you look selfish and inconsiderate, and it takes time away from you for grinding. PLay the game. And remember that's all it is: A GAME
/huge agree
I do the commando4000 'nade deal to power grind my fs combat branches and I actually enjoy it. To me, it sometimes turns into a mini-game in itself doing those missions. I don't solo (just group with a pet razor cat), so i still get full cash payout. When i get to a lair sometimes i have to 'save my 'nitches' by attacking other creatures or npcs which may have been aggro'd by other creatures. Some people may find this annoying and slow but i enjoy it. Nuthin like using 'nitches as tanks for rancors then after it's dead, turn on the lair so they all attack you, hehe. Get rifle xp for the non-nitches and 'nade/combat xp for the lair. I like getting 30k combat xp and 30k rifle xp when i go out.
Point is, make it fun. Jedi were never meant to be at the number they currently are but as a game it's going to happen. The CU is going to make xp harder to generate so people spend more time actually experiencing their prof andcombat instead of power grinding to master so they can gouber pvp or FS grinding...so...THEY ARE NOT NERFING THE FS GRIND...directly. I say, if you want to grind out fs xp while it's still easy go commando4xxx and take ADVANTAGE of the way it currently is. I don't really want to get Jedi quick or anything, I just want to bank as much as I can so that I won't have to worry about it post CU.
6.5 more combat xp caps and then 2 Senses branches to go...![]()

This was originally going to be a reply to the "If we really wanted to keep Jedi rare..." thread, but I'm wondering how many other people busting their @ss just to unlock feel the same way I do. So here goes:
Funny how the people who already have Jedi are, and always have been (since original holo grinding) the ones to come up with the crazy ideas like: "Let's make them complete 100 quests at one quest per week cap!"
You've joined the hundreds who already have a Jedi and all of the sudden you are a strong proponent of closing the door. Honestly, it makes you all look all too Republican. (Wealth for everyone, until I get mine!)
As someone who has been playing (and more importantly PAYING SUBSCRIPTION) since day 1 and missed both occassions to unlock by just a hare: (Was on sabbatical for the easy hologrind, Work and a haywire computer stopped me about nine months ago at 14 professions, would have unlocked before the Village patch.) I've got to say that I DESERVE, (yes you heard correctly, DESERVE) a fair shot this time, without interruption, at unlocking my Jedi. (i.e. another FSXP, village quest, FS unlocking system change.)
I've got three more trees to grind, allow me that, allow us all the chance to grind what we've got. Do not change xp, do not change the system, if you want to penalize the Jedi population to make them more rare, penalize the existing population, for once, instead of the myriads just trying to unlock to experience Jedi a little, not to become an uber Master Jedi killing every normal player in his or her path. (After the grind to unlock, many don't have it in them to keep grinding to Jedi Knight.)
Making existence as an actual Jedi more difficult I can live with, tugging on that proverbial carrot AGAIN, I and I know many others, will not.
I can only follow that carrot so far, if SoE intends to make me choose ANOTHER year of my life grinding away just to experience Jedi, or simply no Jedi at all (after I've already worked harder than most of the L337s some of which only had to grind at most, 8 professions.) I will cancel, I will simply cancel. In that instance, it's would not be worth it to me, thanks for wasting my time SoE, ciao.
It's not like there aren't other MMOs, I can always try The Matrix Online, or maybe I can take up golfing. Lord knows even that will be more exciting and take less time than an EVEN LONGER FSXP grind. :-P.

Wow. how many people can MISS THE POINT? First I will say this: any political debate in anMMO forum is just wrong... so, please everyone drop the democrat/republican bantering in the "FS Profession forum"
Secondly, the point the poster is making is this simple: itsNOT the grind, the time it takes, the way jedi is gotten, or any of the other sidetracked interpretations. It is simply changing the system. Changing the system sets many people back and can, in theory, continualy prevent the same people from getting Jedi. (ie. If the combination to any lock changes after you have just tried 90% of the billions of possible combinations... you have to start the combination grind over... That is frustrating...that's the point here.) if a person figures out the system of grinding jedi, only to see it change before they can grind through it, that can be frustrating. This can create the following scenario;
Example:
1.Hardcore gamerperson gets account, reads all the tricks in forumsand grinds out 20 hours of jedi work in 6 weeks of village cyclesand unlocks jedi... earns it... did the work. ( should be no debate here)
2. Casual gamer has had account since day one and has grinded500 hours since day one... however does not have jedi cuz thegame has changed the jedi unlock systemseveral times, and gone through periods of no unlocking at all. this is not fair and creates very upset and frustrated gamer. ( should be no debate here)
Now we have hardcore gamer (has jedi and less time playing than most)saying quit whining, and a frustrated casual long-term player who has put more time and money, than anyone else, into the same game and still has no jedi. Now forgive my lame example and way of explaining the situationcreated, butWho is to blame?? Neither!!!... the Game is to blame.
If the game stuck to any system... everyone would have an equal oportunity... but the game changes. the people at fault here are the developers. The system currently creates an imbalance and unfair cycle in how people obtain jedi because the devs control the jedi population by changing how to unlock it. if the devs kept the "unlock"very simple and consistant(not ever change it), everyone would have an equal chance at jedi. Then, to control population, the devs should shift the "organic" or apply the "jedi-difficulty" to the "keeping a jedi alive." this would also be fair to everyone. Unlocking a jedi in this game should not be hard... keeping one alive should be the hardesttask, and this is also where the devs should change difficulty over time... So difficult, that a jedi is a rare...RARE sight.
Comments??...

Thanks again Doc, for spelling out what I meant. You made my point very clearly and precise.
I concur, even looking at this from an accounting standpoint alone; I've already proven that I will stick with the game (even as a casual gamer) longer than many of hardcores on my server that ground to Jedi and moved on to WoW or some other MMO. (There were a lot of them.)
Don't keep expanding the grind of casual gamers just for the sake of silencing the whining from l337s who are only doing so because they "believe" too many are joining their esteemed l337 profession. What are they worried about? It takes forever to reach Jedi Knight.

While some people do suggest changes to how to become a Jedi it's not really up to us now is it?
You've joined the hundreds who already have a Jedi and all of the sudden you are a strong proponent of closing the door. Honestly, it makes you all look all too Republican. (Wealth for everyone, until I get mine!)
I unlocked under the new system as i started it as soon as it was published. There are plenty more that will unlock in the near future. I did what needed to be done and they will too. System allows everyone to eventually unlock if they choose too.
As someone who has been playing (and more importantly PAYING SUBSCRIPTION) since day 1 and missed both occassions to unlock by just a hare: (Was on sabbatical for the easy hologrind, Work and a haywire computer stopped me about nine months ago at 14 professions, would have unlocked before the Village patch.) I assume you got credit for the professions you did grind. Sorry but the game is not going to halt on changes or new things being added just because you were unable to log in. Sucks to finally get used to something and then it changes but it happens and just because you were in game longer then others doesn't and should not give you any special treatment. They've given credit to those who parcticipated in the hologrind and SOE decided how that credit was to be given. Not everyone liked it but that's the way things go.

We live with the changes or quit because of them. There is alot more that's going to be affected then just your ability to unlock your Jedi. Leveling professions is going to be different as well. Pretty much all the guides on the forums at least for combat characters are of little use as they are going to need a major overhaul. I have a 2nd account that is gonna get caught up in these changes as well and he's not done with his template.
Making existence as an actual Jedi more difficult I can live with, tugging on that proverbial carrot AGAIN, I and I know many others, will not.

Sorry to say but this comment right there is just an all out whine. Yup in the hologrind some did it less professions then others they got lucky and made good profession choices. The new system is easier to some harder to others but most of all it's basically time gated. Comparing what you have to do to what others have to do is basically irrelevant. I had to do the Full Village grind while those who did the hologrinding did not I was around then and didn't do it so I can't really say much about it now can I. Changes to the system may not be fair to those who get caught in the middle of the transition but since your already putting the "If i don't get my way I'm gonna cancel" attitude well then just do it and be done with it. I say that as you've already made the game no longer fun for yourself to play and that alone is a good enough reason to quit. I don't like some of the changes that happen and do voice my opinions but I still have fun playing and roll with the BS that rolls out with it.
It's not like there aren't other MMOs, I can always try The Matrix Online, or maybe I can take up golfing. Lord knows even that will be more exciting and take less time than an EVEN LONGER FSXP grind. :-P.
Personally I wouls suggest that you do try out those other games. If you have fun playing them then well then it was worth quitting. Taking a break from to try something else does some good alot of times.
