Thread: Do any FSXP grinders feel the same way I do about the CU?

This was originally going to be a reply to the "If we really wanted to keep Jedi rare..." thread, but I'm wondering how many other people busting their @ss just to unlock feel the same way I do. So here goes:
Funny how the people who already have Jedi are, and always have been (since original holo grinding) the ones to come up with the crazy ideas like: "Let's make them complete 100 quests at one quest per week cap!"
You've joined the hundreds who already have a Jedi and all of the sudden you are a strong proponent of closing the door. Honestly, it makes you all look all too Republican. (Wealth for everyone, until I get mine!)
As someone who has been playing (and more importantly PAYING SUBSCRIPTION) since day 1 and missed both occassions to unlock by just a hare: (Was on sabbatical for the easy hologrind, Work and a haywire computer stopped me about nine months ago at 14 professions, would have unlocked before the Village patch.) I've got to say that I DESERVE, (yes you heard correctly, DESERVE) a fair shot this time, without interruption, at unlocking my Jedi. (i.e. another FSXP, village quest, FS unlocking system change.)
I've got three more trees to grind, allow me that, allow us all the chance to grind what we've got. Do not change xp, do not change the system, if you want to penalize the Jedi population to make them more rare, penalize the existing population, for once, instead of the myriads just trying to unlock to experience Jedi a little, not to become an uber Master Jedi killing every normal player in his or her path. (After the grind to unlock, many don't have it in them to keep grinding to Jedi Knight.)
Making existence as an actual Jedi more difficult I can live with, tugging on that proverbial carrot AGAIN, I and I know many others, will not.
I can only follow that carrot so far, if SoE intends to make me choose ANOTHER year of my life grinding away just to experience Jedi, or simply no Jedi at all (after I've already worked harder than most of the L337s some of which only had to grind at most, 8 professions.) I will cancel, I will simply cancel. In that instance, it's would not be worth it to me, thanks for wasting my time SoE, ciao.
It's not like there aren't other MMOs, I can always try The Matrix Online, or maybe I can take up golfing. Lord knows even that will be more exciting and take less time than an EVEN LONGER FSXP grind. :-P.

If it takes me another month or another 6 months to get there, I will get there eventually. But it helps to take time off and enjoy the sights, or just blowing the hell out ships in space for a while.
I just made padawan, and I have to say that Jedi being able to take down large groups isn't a requirement, but being able to hold my own against non-jedi is something I expect. I played through the holo-grind days, took a break around pub-9 and came back to try out JTL and finish off my Jedi, when I saw the rules changing I finished my last tree and a half of exp with imp dets, and am enjoying the game a lot more now. I paid my dues, and do not feel the slightest amount of guilt for using grenades. I got 3 holo based unlocks, which definitely weren't "free" and spent the last 5 months doing village quests, killing NS's for crystals and krayts for pearls, and finally grinding exp. I would have stuck with the TKM/Swords, but I had no idea how much longer the road was going to get after the CURB. There is one documented case on my server of a guy opening jedi with 6 mastered professions.....I don't think that much luck (or lack of) should dictate how quickly you get your glow-stick.
I mastered 13 or 14 before I quit the hologrind, and would have finished that by now if the rules hadn't have changed. I just hope I have time to enjoy playing my jedi, I am skeptical that the CURB will be all that great but I am hanging out to see....I am not pre-ordering ROTW.
Making the jedi grind harder is better in my opinion (i arent jedi myself)
Becoming a jedi only takes 2-3 months now... There are more jedis than rangers and bounty hunters and many other professions. Jedi isnt any rare anymore...
I do meet over 20 jedis a day... min 5 is jedis in the guild im in. But i hardly see any BE, BH, Ranger, and some other proffesions...
Making the jedi grind harder is just better... all peoples are jedi before they even mastered any other profession. Theres nothing special anymore with getting jedi couse all is it
if you want jedi in a month and have some cash to blow, like everyone tells u, get 4-0-0-0 commando and get grenades. i'm not kidding, this is your fastest path to jedi. if you say "well why should i waste my time changing my template just so i can grind FS faster..." well i say to you. don't bother complaining and whining about being jedi-less. NO ONE enjoys grinding. so you decide whats more important to you here. Grind hard for a month and spend tons of cash on nades if u are able to. Suck it up, and in a month, you TOO can have jedi.
i've been FS for over a year but was always too lazy to change to commando. i wanted to keep my uber melee stacker template. then finally i just decided jedi was worth much more to me. so i gave it all up, gave up a month of my life to grind FS. and my work has payed off.
so i guess what you should be thinking to yourself after reading this post is: Am i sitting on my butt expecting Jedi to fall into my lap? or am i putting everything i've got into reaching my goal. and if your answer doesn't resemble the later in any way shape or form...then you've got what you deserved.
my two cents. i'm not accusing the original poster of being a whiner. but i know MANY who do day in and day out. so lets quit the whining folks. SUCK IT UP. and when you do, and finally get your jedi...congratulations.

First off you're very pretentious and rude. Your arguments are only based off assumption. Philosophy major indeed. (Enjoy trying to find a career with that one buddy. :-). As long as we're comfortable with assumptions; I'll just consider you the average person in my philosophy class that considers bong craft a job skill.)
Second off, I did 14 professions, and got 1 unlock. Casual? Define casual, please. As a philosophy major I'd think you'd understand the term "relative." It seems to me you must truly be one of the dumb ones. Your casual may not be mine.
Third, let's look at this from SoE's standpoint. How long have you been around? Since launch? Since we're taking liberties when it comes to assumption, here's my wager:
I bet that even though I haven't unlocked FS yet, I've probably logged more game hours than you, (I used to powergame, and you describe yourself as casual.) and I've probably paid more money to SoE than you as well. Deserving enough.
My point; Just because I wasn't playing hardcore during the specified time SoE decided it would make Jedi more readily attainable, I am punished. They repeatedly change the system at a whim. That's BS. Pure and simple.

"Maybe if you spent your time in the game instead of on these forums bitching about what you deserve and how you think it should be, you might have your Jedi unlocked by now. I'm a casual gamer who's played this game from day one. I'm a senior in college with a social life, so I don't have the time many people do to play this game, yet I still have unlocked my Jedi. I've taken several "breaks" from the game where I was gone for months at a time. The reality of the situation is that if you haven't made Jedi yet, you're not trying at all. The original poster said he completed 14 professions before the holo phase and has done 3 fs branches now. I'm only a dumb philosophy major, but shouldn't someone who grinded 14 professions get at least 3 branch unlocks? It seems to me that this poster hasn't done a damn thing to warrant or DESERVE his Jedi."

Ok, since you've conceded that we're going off assumptions, I'll try to make my argument a little more intelligent and less flawed than yours. Casual gamer as understood by the communtiy would be an individual who plays the game for an hour or two at a time, a couple times a week. Where as a power gamer would be someone who plays for six hours+ a day for several days a week. Granted there is muchroom for error, but since I play this game at tops 6 hours per week, I consider myself a casual gamer as would the majority of readers on this forum. If you really want to know, I'm going to be asoldier in the US Army once I graduate college this June. So while you're at anti-war rallies talking about something you really don't know or understand, I'll more than likely be in Iraq dodging bullets. I'm not asking for sympathy or respect, simply stating that I won't be crafting bongs. I'll take your word that yougrinded 14 professions and only got one free unlock, butthe odds of you only completing 1-2 holo professions is veryunlikely. But hey, whatever. I madeno ass out of myself as from what other posters have written is clearly in line with my argument. You're original post said alot. You made an open attack on Republicans liek it was teh cool and accepted thing to do. So yea, I know you'retype. I deal with them every day and blow their arguments to sh**. You've more than likely never taken a high-end philosophy course or anyadvanced political science classes. You're more than likely someone in the social sciences and I would guess you're a sociology or education major. I could be wrong and if I am no big deal.I've played since launch andif you've logged more hours than me it just shows how stupid and unattentive you must be if you couldn't have reached your Jedi character by now.Your current template is going to be null and void as soon as you reach padawan anyway, so you might as well do what you need to to become a Jedi asfast as possible. However, you appear to be another idiot liberal who doesn't have clue one about the real world or any notion of self-sacrifice or altruism. Personally I'm rooting that you don't get Jedi cause the last thing the already hated Jedi community needs is another as**ole like you flooding the Jedi boards with how you deserve to be a Jedi master because you put alot of money into SOE.
FYI, myhope was a violation of Kant's categorical imperative as my maxims would violate universal Law.Bentham's utilitarianism would argue that you not being a Jedi would be the right thing as you'd just piss off more people and dampen the greater utility. Plato would argue what is more contemptible, you not getting Jedi because you refused to put in the proper amount of effort or dicking over all the Jedi communtiy and adding you to its ranks; I'd argue dicking all of us over so I think we have Plato on board. Finally, Nietzsche would argue that it's just a fuc**** video game and nothing matters and if you had the power to do so you could take your Jedi. Obviously you're not strong enough or devoted enough to earn Jedi. let alone make a bold step like breaking into SOE and giving yourself a Jedi. Just a break down of the major ethical theories that exist out there. I'll give you one more tidbit, Philosophy is the basis for any art or science, so before you knock your average philosophy student (this assumes that you really do take a philosophy class) maybe you should actually open those textbooks and become educated and informed. Then again, they probably don't doa very good job instilling academic discipline in the city/techincal college you go to.
