Actually, I cut the amount of xp needed in half to account for combat xp.

The armorsmith posting was interesting because my primary on Chilastra was a master armorsmith. I made a killing on sliced/unsliced Stun Composite, 75% Ubese and Imperial PSG's. I really enjoyed the economic part of the game and had 4 factories and 2 stores running 24/7 till I realized that after making millionsof credits that there really wasn't anything fun to spend it on besides decorations on the house. So when I quit armorsmithing I wanted to try the jedi, so I used my alt because I knew that I could never get enough xp with my armorsmith to obtain jedi. Good luck, bro.

I still defend the tusken fort due to the repeated spawning and not having to travel from site to site.

Your math is correct but you overlook one thing : Commando. Commando get combat XP for each killing with grenades. Combat XP gives 1:1 Force XP instead of 30:1. Redo the math with the commando-grenade thing and you'll see that you don't need that long.

Why does everyone think that the grind is hard? It's not hard. In fact it's incredibly EASY. Unfortunately its incredibly BORING. What is so hard about running around finding Hurton Stalker Lairs and spamming area attack? As a pikeman, I am never close to dying when I run out to grind. Its not hard, its tedious. There is a big difference. There is no challenge. Some of the village missions are challenging. The phase 4 mission is really fun in my opinion. The grind is not fun, so I quit grinding. What stinks though is that the grind has ruined the game for the non-grinders. On my server the city populations have disappeared. You basically see people getting buffed or waiting to be buffed. Everyone is grinding to Jedi because everyone thinks they can do it.

The grind wouldn't be so bad if I didn't have to spend 1/2 hour just getting buffed and ready to go. And on the rare occurance that I decide to make things challenging and risk my life, I better not die because there goes all of my buffs and I have to deal with all of the buffing junk again. I am holding out hope that the combat rebalance makes things fun again.

I agree, this grind is easy. I did the math myself, and yeah, it is a lot of xp. However, it iseasier for me since all my xp comes from combat (I plan ondoing Combat Prowness 0-0-4-4 and Enhanced ReflexesMaster). And when I broke it down for my character it wasn't so bad. I don't have any free unlocks because I quit Creature Handler my first holo profat novice, but I am Master Pikeman, Swordsman and a TKM. I can max out in under 3 hours, maybe 2 hours and 30 minseven if I don't stop to chat with people or get distracted while grinding, and that gives me 180k FS xp when converted.

Not so bad, eh? With 180k xp I max out at least twice a week, sometimes 4 or 5 when I have spare time during the week (full-time student, part-time job). But to fill my 6 branches, I only have to max out, when rounded, 41 times, which works out to be about somewhere between 6 and 7 times (closer to 6)I have to max out for one branch. So really, if the village changes cycles about every 3 weeks, thats enough timefor me to grind out the xp for each branch before the next phase starts, even if I do max out twice a week only. And yeah, you do have enough skill points to learn 3 professions, and you'll probably have 4 left over, like I did.

I used my remaining points for melee speed, so I grind a little faster, just a little, but believe me, it helps. So even you don't want to do the grenade grind with commando, there are still other ways. And to be honest, I think this is the easiest it will ever be to obtain Jedi.

There are spots on every server that are popular for grinding FS combat and reflexes, but there are also other spots for good xp that people tend to forget about.

Hahaha, yeah, if they change it again, I can imagine how agonizing it would be.

Jocephus is very correct in stating the grind is BORING. Tothe boring list I would include most missions and POI's too. The Warren was somewhat interesting but every other POI is either empty or full of critters/npc's to mindlessly whack. Optimistically, I think there is a chance to make combat more interesting... but I'm not holding my breath.

Since I've followed this game since nearly it's inception, I just can't seem to believe it's turned out this way.

if you don't like the grind, then become a crafter or dancer or doc.

Becoming a jedi is supposed to be a long and difficult journey.

I find a challenge fun in the gaming experience. I wish for nothing to be easy or given to me for free.

If you can't make it through the FS grind then you will never make it through the Jedi grind.

I don't know about all this. On the one hand, I am quite the casual gamer, who gets online for once/twice a week and has a hard time being able stay online through an entire buff session. Time taken up lining up the buffs and getting the solo group together also often sees me just getting my buffs and out to the first few missions when I need to log off for a variety of RL reasons. A lot of these handy-dandy time-to-FS XP-efficiency plans just sound flat to me, not to mention the time it takes to get some cash together to afford one's armor/buff/food habits.

On the other, the individual tasks involved to put get the FS XP aren't really aren't difficult; just time consuming. As a Master Ranger / Master Swordsman, the combat profession turn-in means 60k FS XP per run at it. And it can be daunting to look at the amount of time it will take to fill up the FS boxes. But it has finally dawned on me that; yes, I can drop skill boxes once I'ver picked them up and yes, perhaps another template might speed things along. I'm not real interested in the commando path, mainly because I think I will get more milage (read FS XP) out of my credits spent on armor and buffs than I will on grinding through Marksman and some Commando, then buying crate after crate of Thermal Detonators at 100k per crate. I''ve dropped my Master Ranger tag, and am reconfiguring to MSwordsman / 4040 TKA / 0040 Ranger allowing me to both gather some more FS Xp per run about and still retain some semblence of the Ranger profession I've enjoyed. That and I supplement with C12 grenades. I haven't the patience to use them exclusively, but they do accelerate the Combat XP generation as I do use them.

If there is one thing I would change about the grind, it would be to either expand the profession/combat XP caps (fewer trips to the Village) and/or massage a ratio a touch (25: 1 instead of 30:1, perhaps). And of those two, I prefer the former. I would also welcome and additional ratio, Spacecombat XP 50 or 100 : 1 FS XP. 4-4-4-4 Pilot, I could bank 7.5 mil xp which would take quite a while in space to amass and then turn it in for 150k or 75k FS XP at the end of it.

Honestly, the grind is intended to be daunting, and as a poster mentioned earlier, it's better to just look at it one box at a time. Or in my case two, as Iam working on the Luck line while Ifill out myfive lines in the combat/reflexes trees. I will get there eventually, andI think I will appreciate it all the more when I get there.

Jedi = OCD Grinder

If you think it's boring. STOP NOW. Change professions. You don't have what it takes... OCD.

Try facing a 3 MILLION Jedi xp branch and a 3.2 MILLION masters box. That over 15 MILLION Jedi xp to master lightsaber AND you lose xp when you die. Plus you're doing this whole thing getting, on average, less then 1k of xp per kill.

This was done for a reason. They want very few Jedi in the game. Only thosesick enough to put up with this insanity become Jedi.

It also needs to be pointed out that Jedi don't do anything but grind. Until your template is done and you're ready for the Knight Trials, you're a sitting duck for bounty hunters. So don't expect to do anything but grind for at least a year.

FS exp is nothing compaired to the Jedi Exp requirements. One tree of jedi skills is (imo) equil to about 4 FS skill trees.

To finish a jedi template its over 36 million jedi exp. if you do the math you find that you will need to avarage 100k jedi exp a day to finish a template in a year. Of course the grind gets a bit faster as you gain skills but you still have to avarage that 100k a day to keep your jedi on track, and thats a slow grind. Power Gamers can do it much faster.

I'm sorry but i cant take pitty on any FS grinder. I had to do it. Everyone that wants jedi now will have to do it. Just just hunker down and get grinding.

well..............

if i ever become a jedi, i wont be doing it and thinking it will be anything other than a huge, drawn out grind.

because if it was say just 5 times harder than the average combat profession, i would become one, all my mates would become one, my guild and my city would become jedi.

befor long..... people will be saying wow! look a non-jedi.......i wish i had non-jed charactor, then i could sell if for loads on ebay.

to go back to the films (of which, there are only 3)

how many jedi were there towards the fall of the empire, when this game is set?

TWO!

A beardy bloke, and a bogey with a light saber!

Out of the hundreds of worlds under imperial crontrol, there were two!

you wander the streets of coro atm and you cant hear the sound of the starships over the hum of lightsabers. iv seen hunting groups with 7-8 jedi in them!

if becoming a jedi is too hard........becomea TK master and attack jawa's, pretend they are really tough, and make the swooshing noises you're self.
