Maybe the luck skill tree is a placebo that went wrong.
It probably is a joke skill tree that the devs put in there as a psycological study of how people think there luck can increase by getting 'stat modifiers'.
I think all the people who got that tree have just been taken for a ride

Well, you're close..
All those who took luck and/or persuasion got taken for a ride by that player who thought vehicular control would be worth it too
After reading this thread and various others concerning luck and persuasion, i've decided to give them a miss and go all for combat prowess trees and melee defence and ranged defence from enhanced reflexes profession. Seem to be the 6 most easily do-able and most useful skills.

Here is my experience on Luck skill 4
I get better loot thats undoubted..
I get better creds from equal or higher level mobs as me..
I dont win more at gamble machines...
Whenever i am in deep trouble or danger...*always* some rebel NPCs pops around and helps me(this is exact and witnessed)One of these rebels always be a recruiter also.So something like instant overt when needed
These npcs spawn at only open areas.

I had done quite a bit of Tusken fighting/looting at Fort Tusken BEFORE and AFTER I obtained LUCK tree.
Here's what I found:
- with LUCK, you ALWAYS loot at least a few credits - NO MORE "nothing to loot" msgs.
- with or without LUCK, I was getting very close to the same ratio of good/bad loots.
Now, before the Jedi changes (and the LUCK tree), I noticed that I had VERY BAD luck looting crystals (for example) from Jantas/Mokks, while others had great luck. Also, I noticed I had a good chance looting crystals from Tusken. My char is a Wookiee, and there have been humans, zabracks, and Dosh that I know of who also had good chance of looting crystals from Tuskens as well.
So, I think, each char has "randomly generated" chances to loot for specific types of mobs - which is probably set at char creation. My reason for this is that I KNOW FOR CERTAIN, that I can go to Fort Tusken, and within 2 hours I can at the very least get 2 crystals (usually 5-10). I can do the same with Janta/Mokk missions and get squat.

Hey...didn't Obi-Wan say that in his experience, there was no such thing as luck? Why are they making a whole force sensitive tree based on it?
Rippen
Obi-Wan did say there is no such thing as luck, but that was in respone to actions a non-jedi deemed as lucky. Through out the Movies and the EU you see things going the way of the jedi. Having a force sensitive luck tree makes sense to me. Especially since box 4 is called "devine destiny".

This always happens and is not from your luck, Unless you are neutral if any of your faction NPC's are near they will help you.You must of just happened apon a spawn.

I plan on getting the Luck tree (and actually grinding through it) as soon as phase 3 goes live on my server.
Here are some possible things that could be affected by luck, very few of which have been discussed here:
-Better credit loots
-Higher chance of looting an item
-Higher chance of item being exceptional/legendary from high-level NPCs
-Lower chance of looting junky items (CDEFs, etc)
-Better overall looted stats (higher damage, lower speed, lower HAM, more uses on a DOT, etc.)
-Better accuracy rolls when attacking enemies (akin to accuracy mods)
-Higher average damage with a weapon (akin to weapon damage mods)
-Less chance of an enemy blocking/dodging/counterattacking
-Higher chance of enemy missing you (lower their accuracy, or akin to melee/ranged defense)
-Better chance to dodge/block/counter (akin to defensive acuity)
-Increased wound chance on your weapons, lower chance of getting wounds yourself
-Better luck at gambling tables
-Better sampling luck
-Better CH-taming luck/BE-sampling/Milk-harvesting
-Better crafting luck (better successes, more often, better experimentations)
-Mission NPCs spawn with less HAM
-Missions appear closer by at the terminal
That's just the beginning of possibilities. Now, I realize most of the above already have their own stats (accuracy, damage, defense, etc.) but for all we know, luck may slightly affect ALL those mods.

Sorry for this stupid question but do you have to give up skill points to go up the luck tree. I only have one free skill point left and wonderingwhether to go glowy, etc. etc. to eventually get luck, but Idon't want to give up any of the skills i've currently mastered to this point.
