Wow, quit making posts about quitting the FS grind. Seriously, what signifigance does it apply? What did you think you were going to do when you bought SWG? An MMORPG? Have everything handed to you?Oh and just for clarification, this isn't directed to you only, it's a general thing.Message Edited by HavykOusrik on 08-02-2005 05:00 AM
Little boy, little boy, go back to school and learn how to spell.
To the Original Poster: I hear ya man, from what our guildies say about Jedi, it's really not all it's cracked up to be either... You start out as a novice padawan so completely gimped as to be almost gated from getting anywhere without going completely against all canon for this time period. A lot of people just have it in their heads that being a Jedi is really "all that" but from what I've seen and heard for the majority of people it is a major let down after all the work they put into it just to get there.
Anyway, Take it easy.

What did I mispell? You musn't be very bright.
For starters...you misspelled "misspell".
Yeah well, I've been up 18 hours, typos happen, however, in that particular post, I didn't misspell anything.. ><.
Actually, you did. "signifigance", as you put it is spelled "significance". I'm not here to flame though. It's just that "mispell" error was too good to pass up.
Ha, oh, I suppose, but yeah when you've benn up for extreme amounts of time and you're about to fall over on your keyboard, typos happen.

Smugglers... Do they actually smuggle anything?
Dancers - Saddens my heart what they did to your prof. All you need now to finish you poor sods off is a rubber ball in your mouth and a Pulp Fiction moment in the dev's basement.
Musicians - Is that an instrument your blowing on? Sorry BF is gone forever. Nothing you do will get it back.
Tailors - See we fixed your colors! You happy now? Bio clothes... What are those?
Creature handlers - One step shy of being spaded and neutered themslves.

I think this thread has indeed struck a cord with several players. I know quite a few players, including myself, who have given up on the idea of being a jedi. The grind isn't the reason why we have we have quit working towards the jedi prof. Personally the FS grind does not bother me. With the right group of RP'ers, I find it rather entertaining and can easily stack up over 250k FS XP in one trip to the village in 3 to 4 hours. So do not bother giving me the boo hoo you can't hack the XP grind. I have all my trees unlocked and more than enough FS XP to fill them all.My reasons for stopping is simple, it has lost its appeal to me. This is based on several things. When I joined the game jedis were rare (very rare - as in less than 25.) These jedi were special. If you made jedi during this time you had EARNED it. It took dedication, hard work, and a life of being a hermit. You were very careful in what you did. Permadeath if you weren't.Today it is completely different. There are too many of them (at least on Bria.) They outnumber womprats. Don't turn out the lights, they might multiply even faster. I can't go anywhere without encountering at least 10 - 15 jedis a throughout an evening of play. I keep a list of who is a jedi on this server and update it when I spot a new one. This list is obscene.Another reason why is the caliber of player in the jedis I encounter. The majority of them leave a great deal to be desired. Rude, arrogant, childish.... If you have played for more than a week, you have prolly run into atleast one I'm sure. (Hard not to.) I have no desire to be lumped in with this group. The current system for jedi is borked, Want to be a fully templeted jedi? Sure no problem goto the Kash incubator and grind in the caverns. GO ahead and turn on your AFK kill macro. Come back in 3 to 4 weeks and bingo! Fully templated jedi. Don't start with me on the crap about it taking more than a month to finsh a jedi template. I know a couple that have finished inside a month doing an AFK macro grind in the caverns. I have no respect for any jedi that grinds on Kash.I spent some time tracking down a few jedi grinders to figure out how they were templating out so fast. Near the bottom of the caverns I found two groups of jedis grinding. Pretty clever how they were doing this. All of the jedis from both groups were standing in the exact same spot I mean all of them. Looked like a weird episode of body snatchers or some multiple armed god from India (provided that god has 30 arms. Looked like a X-mas tree when all the sabers lit up to whack a feral wookie. There is no way you can really target all of them. The names above their heads is nothing more than a jumbled mess. BHs standing around this force welding blob would give up in fustration since targeting their mark was damn near impossible. Stack 15 bodies in one spot and try it yourself. Sad thing is almost off of those jedis were afk.The current BH/jedi system is hosed and it is getting worse. Which I guess is good for jedis at least, but not the BHs. Personally I love it when a BH shows up and ganks a afk grinding jedi. BH's hunting in pairs is non existant at this point. The BHs and this system need some common sense love and I do not mean with a nerf ball bat welding midget dressed up as one of WIlly Wonka's Umpas. The spirit of what is to be a jedi is completely thrashed when some illiterate goob with a glowstick lights up in the middle of town just to show off. It is almost like they are trying to compensate for something they lack. Considering how fast a jedi can become fully templated, I have more respect for a chef or droid engineer working towards master. They can't afk grind.Double XP and token respecs haven't help this any.The only way I'd consider becoming a jedi at all is if they brought back permadeath. Die five times and your out. Start over. To me even the threat of permadeath is a great self-correcting attitude adjustment that most of these jedis need.
Normally I try not to complain about problems without having a solution to present, but of late I am beginning to think I have Turretts (sp?) Syndrome everytime I run across jedi.
NyyrBounty Hunters = Contract Killers. There is no such thing as "Dead or Alive" in SWG.

Do you think they care if they have your respect? Do you think anyone cares you quit your grind? No.
Also, just because we have it easier post-cu, doesn't mean it wasn't earned. Quit playing that card already, it's annoying.
If you're looking for RP on Bria, you're on the wrong server.
EDIT: Rofl, I just read the part of you not being able to find your bounty in the mess of Jedi... maybe if you don't know how to target them, you shouldn't have respecced to such a profession.. try novice marksman.

stop complaining about that nerf 4 combat xp. if u wanted jedi SOOOO badly maybe u should have used those 3 (4 if ur in flurry)times we got double xp2 use grenades 2 finish ur grind. i did that grind in 7 days and everything is done. all i gotta do is wait till next phase. and if ppl say stop using nades, it isnt fair 2 us, just say who cares this is my way of grinding, and if they boot u so what u just run 2 the mo and get another group. oh and just so u know i only found 4 groups the wouldnt let me use nades out of the 50 groups that i was in. and like i said if u wanted jedi soooo badly u should have taken double xp 2 ur advantage.
I don't remember at any point in my OP that I stated I was mad about the nerf coming (combatxp change) that should be in affect today. Unless you're referring to someone else's statement, you didn't hear it from me. And unfortunately, I was out of the game during the double xp period, had to leave for a bit. But I'm not unhappy about it - it happens.

You people do realize that combat xp is not the only type of xp that can be converted at the village right? Or did I just tell you something you didnt know?
hey, did you know that for non-bh's this nerf will almost double the FS grind? or are we telling you something you didnt know?

Thanks guys for the responses.. most of them
I honestly expected to get more of a negative reaction to what I posted and I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels this way. I played a lot more of the game today and I'm trying my darndest to figure out some other stuff to do. I spent a good portion of my day going out site seeing to areas I'd never bothered to check out and it was fun. The relieve of stress to grind quick and go back to the village to convert the xp is very nice. I think now my current goal is to get every dang badge I can.
I just hope that I can continue to find stuff to do that's original and exciting...
Thx guys for the support, and to the one who was unhappy about me posting - it's cool. I know that these types of threads are no fun to read through but I hope you saw my point as to why I made it. I would think most people would like to express their opinions so that's why I did it.
OMG GO BACK TO SCHOOL AND LEARN HOW TO SPELL!
