They happen immediately and (very importantly) they give xps to train skills with. The number of unlocks you get will depend on the amount of hologrinding you did. Someone who unlocked before Publish 10 should have 6 unlocks allowing them to train 6 full branches of FS skills and thus qualify for Jedi Initiate.
Sorry if someone has already asked this, however I don't see I either overlooked it, or did not understand.
After grinding out around 20 professions, without any luck unlocking my slot, I took a break for several months. Now, the quote from the guide above mentions that characters who unlocked prior to patch 10 get the 6 unlocks. Now, does this mean to get the free unlocks I needed to unlock my FS slot prior to patch 10, or does it mean that I just won't get 6 right off the bat?

You will get some unlocks, but less than the full 6. How many you get apparently depends on how close to unlocking you were (i.e. how many of your hidden professions you had hit).
I just did a major update on the guide. I updated several conversion rates, several quests and included details on leaving the village. I'll get to work on my Padawan Trials guide as soon as I can.

My question pertains to Phase IV Village Assault. The Captains quest. No after reading all of these forums and listening to all of the people wortking on Jedi at this time, it has been explained to me that you can onl have one branch per quest per phase (or something along those lines). But in your guide you explain that after you get the mission accomplished the 1st time you wiull get a 2nd of missions and you will unlock both Combat Prowess: Ranged speedand Enhanced Reflexes: Melee Defense. But at the end you put an OR between the 2. Now does this mean i get 1 or the other or do i get both? Can anyone help me out on this one??Thank you

I just completed the Senses quest in phase 1, for persuasion. I had gotten the mission last night at 2 am, and finished it 1pm this afternoon. Then she procedes to give me the plant, but says I took too long. So when did a timer come into the picture for these? With a 3 week phase shift time, why do I need to complete it in a freakin hurry. This, as with every other addition to the game, is very poorly thought. I now have to wait 3 weeks to try for another FS skill, and not gain a single thing from this one.

Submit a bug report to the CSR's that is a problemthat will need to be dealt with. I took my time on the patrols (logged in and out over time 3days) and could still go back and finish it.
All I can say for learning skills is read the first post made for this thread that will tell you exactly who to talk to.

I submitted both a bug report and a ticket. We'll see what they have to say. I knew which person I wanted to talk to. I just didn't get my branch for completing the quest. That has me really pissed off. Especially with the long friggin phase time.

Phase 1

Quest Giver: ?
Task: ?
FS Branch Reward: ?
Item Reward: ?
---
I don't know if this has been said in previous pages.. but regardless of if it has.. the front page hasn't been updated with this quest, so here it is, again perhaps.
Quest:
The quest giver is Quharek, he asks you to take a look at the Sensor Array to see if you can repair it.
Task: Repair Sensor Array.
When you get to the sensor array there are 4 damaged parts in it that you need to repair. Remove each one from the Sensor Array terminal and take them to the engineer's hut. In that hut close to the array, there are 2 devices. One analyzes the parts and puts a schematic into your data pad, so you can create a new ones, basically reverse engineering the broken parts. You collect the resources(listed below) and make the new parts.. Once the new parts are made, you use the second device to calibrate the new parts which is a series of sliders you have to adjust to match colors, patterns, etc. Once the parts are calibrated you place them back into the Sensor Array and then go talk to Quharek for your rewards.
Branch Reward: Crafting Mastery: Assembly
Reward: Aurilian Sculpure Part 4 of 4.
Resources:
I don't know if it's the same for everybody or if it changes but I'll tell you what I used to make the new parts. I kept the left over resources in case guildies need them if they were the same for everybody. Sorry but I don't remember which parts needed what resources or exact quantities, I figured somebody had this done and posted on the boards already. Apparently I'm the only one who chose the crafting quest. Heh heh.
I Don't recall if any type of the following was needed specifically, but I used:
Chromium Aluminum
Alantium Carbonate Ore
Polysteel Copper
Chronamite Extrusive Ore
Polymer
Lubricating Oil
Thoranium Steel
These I DO recall needing specifically for a schematic.
Rori Fiberplast
Talusian Fiberplast
Nabooian Water Vapor
Yavinian Wind Energy
If anybody else has done this quest fill in any blanks please. Thanks!

/frustration on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well here is more proof that SOE does not give a **edit** about their customers.
CSR ChrisO answers back to my ticket. All he says is that he can't say anything about the Jedi progression, and that I should keep playing as I see fit. **edit** IS TAHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I do their god damn rediculous quest. I complete the damn quest, but I do not get the brach unlocked. Oh, but I should keep playing as I see fit. I guess that would mean a whole entirely new game. I love how the damn CSR's like to brush us off like we are happy just to get a damn reply. I don't think so.
I submitted one more ticket with a little more info, and a piece of my mind as well. We'll see where they go with it this time. My guess is no where though. These Jag offs couldn't even save a file to a floppy much less run a game properly. This is just about the last straw with this crap.
