The reason you must kill the 5 sith is that the members of the group with the mission must be credited with 5 sith thug kills as I stated they will recieve a System Message with a countdown from 5 and a (sub) mission completed message. I do not know if you can complete the mission with out killing the 5 thugs as I would not be willing to risk the whole effort to figure out if that works, I assume that the reason the Sith did not despawn when you captured the commander was that you had not killed the 5 thugs.. however I am not a Dev and am not 100% on that... Someone at SOE knows and is probally watching and laughing.

You don't actually have to kill 5 sith thugs. All you have to do is have the sheild guy run away with all the sith and die, which will spawn the commander instantly. While this is happening commander guy runs in/out and hoofs it to the village. Have the shield guy meet you on the way back for credit.

Quick question about strategy here...

You kill the initial two turrets in the front with ranged weapons. No problem. But instead of staying at the front to drop the shields, you goto the back of the base. You pull out your pets and/or droids and then proceed to drop the shields where you now send them in to take out the BACK gate first. Next, you have them take out the third turret inside the base and then finally have them take out the FRONT gate.

Thereby, avoiding any agro'ing of the siths that spawn towards the front and to the left or right.

Does this seem logical to anyone else?

BUT!
Does the lowering of the shields really depend on your shield guy's location (i.e. front of base)?
Does the front gate need to be taken out first before the back gate?
What about the antenna?

Interesting take on this mate...however I do not know how you plan on taking the rear gate first as to get to it you must go throught the front gate. I am not sure if you have actually been to one of these bases yet but, the base is set up with 2 rings of walls. The front gate blocks you getting to the second gate on the inner walls of the base. No teh person with the shield mission can drop the shields from anywhere but standing behind the base to de-activate the shields will leave you ineffective to get into the base as you have a vary limited time to get inide the base if you wish to attempt the mission as I have suggested in my guide. I have stated before that this is not the ONLY way to accomplish this mission just the way I have found to be both simple and effective. I suggest you try this mission your way first then if it doesn't work you can try it the way I have described above. That way you will stop posting your opinions with out at least trying this mission, for example LordScotticus had a few ideas he wished to mention andit ishappily taken advice as he has obviously done this mission himself. Once you attempt this quest please I encourage you to post again with some advice from your successfull completion of the Captains Quest.

Hopefully that covers your "Does this seem logical to anyone else?" question. I could have answered with a No. and left it at that but hopefully you now understand the mission better and will not have any problems with it.

PS. about the antenna. I killed it on one mission and didn't on the second, didn't notice any diference I think it may be there for "Flavor"

"That way you will stop posting your opinions with out at least trying this mission..." Well, soooooooooooory for asking a strategy question before I go risk my life out there. Sheesh!

nice guide, and bad Sith Tugs.. they are really griefers. They hit only Action bar, and wound Quickness and Stamina, besides, every thug means around 150BF so autoheal is almost useless. Needless to say they are 3 times harder to kill than a NS protector. I'm soloing the mission right now, already killed 4 fugs, tugs i mean, 590BF.

2. THE BASE NAMES WILL CHANGE. You're only guaranteed the base name for the current phase 3. The next time phase 3 comes around, the waypoints will still be fine but all the names will change on every server. There was a lot of confusion last Thursday whent he phase shifted and everyone was trying to use the guides from last October and NONE of the bases were where they were supposed to be.

The best way to know if you've got the right place is to circle it a while and find a surveillance droid. Surveillance droids carry the name of the base they patrol: a 'xi' base will always have 'xi' droids in the area.

This is the best information to me concerning this mission. When you talk to the captain in the village you get NOTHING. No waypoint. No clear intructions. NOTHING. So I turned to the forums for help and read the sticky notes. I found waypoints to bases for my server, little did i know that the names are different for the bases in this phase. My partner and I spent 4 hours trying to figure out why the shields couldn't be brought down at the base which we thought was "delta" and we had the "delta" device in inventory.

Basically the best advice I can give anyone is loot as many code disks as you can and match the devices upto the bases by searching for the surveilance droid at each base.
