Great guide thanks!

One quick question, I tried to do this last night for the first time - Solo as noone was around unfortunately. I got the mission and headed to the first base, that was empty and everything down, so assumed another group had hit that. Went to next base and couldnt get near it as obviopusly the shield was up. The nearest Sith grouping was about 200m away. Im taking it its these guys that you have to hit for the disks, although they are some distance from the actual base?

The one thing I found though was even tho TKM/Smug/Pistoleer and fully buffed with good armour and brandy and ahrisa these boys (bout 5-6 of them) chewed through my Health bar in a matter of seconds, before I could even kill one of them! Don't reemmber having as much problems with them before

Just to add a few tips:

When dealing with the pirates spawns around the base make sure to check what they are comprised off before jumping into combat. Sometimes two groups will stand *exactly* on top of eachother which means you would be facing an army and not even knowing it. Secondly, these groups also at times have one or two thugs in them who most likelywill kill you if you solo the whole group at the same time.

Furthermore these tips are also good to keep in mind when you engage the pirates:

Join forces with any ranged profession with bleed shot to draw out the thugs - you can go prone, throw a bleed at them and run until you are about 80m away and you'll only aggro the bleeded MoB instead of the whole group.

Hide behind trees. I can't describe how useful trees are against the pirate spawns as their main source of damage is ranged combat. If you can get them to engage in strictly melee combat your 80% kinetic composite armor will take the brunt of the damage, giving you more time to wipe them out.

Have novice medic and a generious amount of good stim B's in your chosen weapon toolbar. Thugs hit hard and being able to heal yourself for some 400 damage every 10-15 seconds is a life saver.

If you have a melee profession use intimidate to to keep the damage output of the thugs to a minimum - stick a few on each thug and they'll do a minimal amount of damage

Think that's all I can think of at the moment

Yes the groups 200m away from the Fort are the extranious Sith that you kill to collect the discs. They have nothing more to do with the missions. The mission Sith do not spawn until the shields go down.

Yeah they have a particularly nasty Surprise Shot that does about 3.5k damage to Health. I've been hit by that before. The trick is to pick them off one by one and never let them stay in ranged attack mode. Have a Doc along helps immensely.

Great tips, Zhentarim!

When Ceasar and I went for it we weren't as finessed about it. We just sort of snuck up on them, agroed a few and hoped they didn't bring the whole bunch with them. Haha. If you are finding that they wild spawns are too much to handle, ask around in the Village and on Planet Chat. Lots of people have extra discs floating around and most would be happy to give them to you.

*** CAUTION ***

1. The base waypoints are fine, but the names are not. This guide fails to address the fact that the names on the bases will be different from server to server. My xi on Bloodfin is this guy's alpha, and there's no telling what it is on Chimaera on Bria.

2. THE BASE NAMES WILL CHANGE. You're only guaranteed the base name for the current phase 3. The next time phase 3 comes around, the waypoints will still be fine but all the names will change on every server. There was a lot of confusion last Thursday whent he phase shifted and everyone was trying to use the guides from last October and NONE of the bases were where they were supposed to be.

The best way to know if you've got the right place is to circle it a while and find a surveillance droid. Surveillance droids carry the name of the base they patrol: a 'xi' base will always have 'xi' droids in the area.

These two things are critically important and can save you a lot of time. For information on Bloodfin's CURRENT and ACCURATE base waypoints:

Bloodfin

Hope this helps keep everyone on track. This guide is passable but doesn't address what to do if the thugs spawn before you get into the base. The answer is pretty simple: wait, and they'll go away. Your best bet is to retry your turret / gate assault between thug spawns; they'll come in groups of 5 every couple of minutes or so. They'll spawn, choke up at the front gate, scatter a bit, then start despawning. Over and over they'll do it, just keep an eye on them on map and rush the gate when you have an opportunity. KEEP YOUR BIKE CLOSE, AND DON'T STORE IT. You might have to leave in a big hurry.

Also, you definitely don't need any ranged ability in your party. Hogwash. I've done this 7 times now and ranged people did nothing but make noise. The turrets don't hit hard and are really soft, and once you're inside the base and the group is camping in the tent, it's easy for 1 *intelligent* person to go out and pull thugs one by one. You better be damned sure to leave your bikes out at the rear of the base, because if the guy pulling should bring back 2 or more, it's time to leave. Run away. Wait for the thugs to despawn, then go back to the tent, rinse, repeat. You'll drop 5 in no time. All ya gotta do then is capture the commander and walk him home.

It's actually not quite as hard as people make it out to be if you know what you're doing. It's pretty friggin hard though; the fastest of my 7 success was done in about an hour and forty minutes.

Thank you LordScotticus I was unaware that the base names were different on each server. Most servers have a post somewhere in the forums with the current names and wp's for your server, Please check and reverify the WP's and Base names for your server.

The method that I used in the guide was the way I did it and is not ment to come across as the only way to do this quest. Many others have completed this Quest before me using various methods from Kiting one Thug away solo with a defense stacker, to rushing the base with 10+ people and hoping to wind up on top. I do not claim to be and "expert" on the Quest but I did complete both of my attempts on the quest in under and hour and 15 min. As for aquring the Disks, I aploigise for not going into more detail on that. When I went to collect disks I was with a Swordsman/Rifles (Yagyu my guildmasters Alt) and the same Pistols/BH (Black-Lodge) that I did the quest with. We just rushed the spawn after making sure it was not 2 stacked on top of each other and killed them rather fast only the 1-2 Thugs taking us more then a few seconds to drop. I have gone collecting Disks with Azrielen before with her TK/Smuggler and my TK/Doc... these sith are only hard if you go it alone sorry for you people who want to solo them but while it may be possible for you I can not and mearly asked for help and it was thankfully given happly. I would like to take this chance to now thank the people on Sunrunner who did help me with the Quest.

Excellent guide that cleared up a few points for me, as I died last night.

One thing I would like to point out to anyone who has read any of the other Melee Accuracy guides on this forum regarding ungrouped individuals not being attacked by the sith: NOT ALWAYS TRUE!! We took along an extra person not in the group for the sole purpose of attacking the inner turret, antenna, etc because another guide said that those ungrouped were usually not attacked by the sith--I think the other guy got really lucky, because they will.

Another thing I would like to point out about this guide, it states to keep drawing thugs to the rear of the base and kill them one by one--we did not kill any thugs at the base, yet the commander did in fact spawn, and let me "capture" him. Sadly I died leading him out, perhaps I didn't wait long enough for the sith to despawn, although they NEVER seemed to despawn for me at ANY point last night.

Howdy Yall.

I'm sure that I was not the only person who had problems with the Melee Accuracy Unlock Quest in the Village. and with that thought in mind I was prompted to write this basic guide to completing that mission as simply as possible. I did the mission myself twice on the 21st of Jan '05 once for my own unlock and a few hours later for a pair of guildmates. After speaking with about 20 different people I gathered what facts I trusted and tossed the few ideas that sounded way to far off and gave the mission a shot.... Success! I did the mission in a group with a Wookie TKM, with a few extra defenses and a Pistols/BH I myself am TKM/Doc. the following is the exact step by step method we used to complete this mission with out any troubles at all.

Step 1) first you need to go collect encoded disks from the semi-random spawns of Sith that are at each of the bases around Dath. I have included a complete list of all the bases at the end of this guide however I sugest going to 'Alpha' Base as it is only 400m away from the SO. you should gather at least 5 of these disks to allow you a choise of baes to attack as their are many factors that play into what base to attack. the two closest bases are Rho and Phy both 3k-3.5k away from the village. this will be important later. Once you have collected these disks it's off to the village to get the quest and gather your group. only 2 people in the group will get credit for the mission, though you can have any number of people in your group. one member of the team doing the mission will get the "drop the shields" mission they will be the one to turn in the disks for thr Remotes that will be labeled with the base shield they will drop. the other member will take the "Capture the Commander" mission.

Step 2) chose your base. sounds simple right.... not really my second attempt we had a remote for the closest base and that base was already under attack by another group so we had to move on, that is why you want more then one remote, after the shields are dropped at a base it will be roughly 2 hours for it to reset for another group to attack it. start at the closest base that you have a remote for and work your way out from there. once you are at a base that has it's shield still up then the fun begins

Step 3) Now that your at the base gather your group across from the main gate and shoot the turrets that are outside the base Before the shileds are dropped. once this is completed have one member count down and signal the lowering of the shields. Once the shields go down you have 30 seconds to destroy the gate and enter the base, kill the turret behind the front gate and head into the back of the base and kill the second gate. By this time several Sith Thugs will be spawning outside the base, if you moved fast enough into the back of the base you will not draw any argo. now you are "safe inside the base.

Step 4) "Ok I'm in this Base surrounded by some very unhappy sith, now what?" Good question, have one member of your group equip a ranged weapon and wait for the sith to group up infront of the base then scatter. when they scatter and before the re group that person should be able to shoot just one of the thugs and pull him into the back of teh base where his friends will not be able to get to help him... Kill him Duhh... Rince and repeat. the 2 with the mission will see a countdown of Sith that have been killed. Once you have killed 5 sith Thugs the Commander will spawn in the tent inside the base. have the person with the "Capture mission" go to him and on his radial menu select "Capture" this will start a one hour timer to return him to the village before he kills himself.

Step 5) "Ok I have the commander and am ready to return to the Village but I still see a TON of sith thugs out there" yeah well thats not as bad as it seems. Aparently as much as the sith liked their commander they don't care about him once he's not telling them what to do. they will all despawn in about a minute. Once they do starts the easier but more annoying part of the mission.

Step 6) RUN. it's actually that simple. the person who captured the Commander whould only worry about 2 things, Not stopping and keeping the Commander within 40m of himself. the other person with the mission should set /follow on the commander so they also stay within 40m of him. carefull as the commander has 0 Terrain Negotion and will not take hills as well as some of you. anyone who came with you on this mission now is the running guards for this little convoy. they will be resopnsible for killing anything that attempts to interupt your progress to the village on foot. this is why I sugest the two closer bases as some are over 10k across Dath, and hiking 10k across that planet does not intrest me. you will be attacked a few times by stith on the way, but they are not the Thugs you had to deal with at the base but lower level Pirates and any half decient fighter should be able to handle them just fine. Do not stop for anything.

Step 7) once you make it to the village head for Paemos and just before you get to him the commander will despawn and the two who dropped the shield and captured the commander will have the Melee Accuracy tree unlocked as well as have the reward for the mission a new colour crystal (Teal) and a Mind buffing crystal.

I am reminded of on other thing I should have been a little more spicific on, when drawing the sith into the base with a ranged weapon, any ranged weapon will work that DOES NOT area attack. Be sure to hit only one sith you do not want more then one or two to come into the back or the mission will get much harder very fast. Other then that I apoligise now for my inablity to spell very well, I just hope this helps out.

Woot! Great guide, Thowe!

Thowe was the one that helped me and Ceasar do the Quest with exactly these steps and we did it the first attempt. GREAT GUIDE! This is the only way to do it, especially if you only have 3 people.

We had 3 people for the assault on the base. Myself (TKM/Pistols) and Ceasar (TKM/Flamethrower) were the ones with the mission. Thowe (TKM/Doc) aided in the assault on the base. Then we had a fourth person, Cowboyup (Commando) help us on the run back. So this is the way to do it, especially with a small group.

Thanks again Thowe! 5 stars from me too!
