He is not looking for an easy Jedi in his quest idea. Jedi is easy as it is it's just very boring, monotonous and time consuming. Those that are power gamers and can grind 2 buffs a day as a Commando the grind is done in a couple weeks from an XP standpoint. They have to come up with something better than this cause it is just plain boring! Not to mention that the holo grind was more rewarding than this. They go from a bad system to a worse system. Whats next?

No whats being said is that he wants an easy glowstick. Go ahead take a glowstick for grinding FS, in 1 week you will be back saying that you want a better glowstick because you need Berserk to do any dmg.
How was Hologrind more rewarding? You grind out professions...here you grind out xp.

Now i agree that i dont like grinding BUT I hate the idea of quests even more. I beleive the path to jedi should be hard...real hard. Random spawn on a random planet at a random time. Basicaly being in the right place at the right time with some requisites on your game experiance.
My roommate just started playing a few weeks ago and he is already FS, Finished his first quest and filled it in. That isnt hard AT ALL. The grind is only long because its 3 week gate per phase.
The idea you mention is WAY to easy and would add exponential numbers to the already outrageous jedi population. The FS grind has already detered many people and if thats what it takes then so be it.
Yes let your hate guide you.... you, like your father... are now mine. My young apprentice.

Thats the whole point of my arugement, more GRIND. cant the devs make it more enjoyable for us the players to be able to do just quests to reach our goal. JEDI?
why does every single thing need to be "ground" to death, it only supports one type of player. thats got the free time 24/7 to be playing this game.
I would love a whole jedi based quest system. a never ending system of quests, but at one key point, we become jedi padawan. Everyone here is Star Wars mad. i buy every single book. Most of them are based on Jedi.
Not one book has mentioned a grueling grind of XP conversion. fair enough the devs have implemented it, in my opinion (which counts as a buyer of this game) is it could have been done slighly different.
Why not quests breaking up the grind just like the village? or level 3 in JTL??
how hard would it be to put in say, 5 quests of killing Sith camps. or other "Evil Jedi" running around the galaxy?
or what about a quest based on say, 20 FS players (with lightsabers, taking on A Dark Jedi master? we could all have "healing powers"
This can be done, i know the devs are concentrating on Combat rebalance. Good luck on that devs. make grinding either more tedious, or longer.
Either way, im going to stick at this grind, i just wish I could roleplay being a FS rather than just a nobody.

one should only be a jedi by the will of CSRs or other supreme "players" in the game who think that one deserves it... that would limit the number drastically not only because its hard to do..but also the lazyness of the staff...its a win-win situation..lol

Those of you that agree with this idea are out of your minds and its obvious you havent used a lightsaber in the beginning. You say you want less grind, when in fact if this idea were to magically go through, itd be an even harder grind. The average "training saber" (which is exactly what you'll be able to craft at the end of this 3 partquest) is around 51-148 damage 4.8ish speed. You wont have any specials either. Now as far as xp, Knights can only get a maxium of 1100ish xp from the highest mobs with their speed capped 480ish max damage Lightsabers while using specials. A low level FS guy with a training saber in hand (bear in mind you cant wear any armor) can only kill the 5kish ham mobs at the most before its too much for him/her and they just die. Guess how much those 5kish mobs give? about 400 xp. Keep in mind with that awful speed itll take around 5-8 minutes per kill.
Now put the part where you 1.2 million points worth of fs xp for one treein there, and your gettinganaverage of 400 xp akill?Wanttotalk about monotonous grinds to the maxand thats a perfect example. In the current state you guys have a much better grind than what your suggesting, quests yea that'd be cool, but thats what the padawan trials are for. Which mind you is a nice breather before you embark upon lightsaber swinging glory which before you hit novice lightsaber aint so glorious.
I think as it stands, the system is fine, yes it takes awhile, yes i went through it as many others have done andanyway you look at the "becoming a jedi method" it will involve a "grind" no matter how many times you bandage it up with "quests." Someone will always complain, as such was with the holo grind, there has to be a middle ground and again, that ground cannot exist without a "grind" of sorts no matter what.

/agree when I read about the new Jedi system that the devs were going to implement I thought it would be a series of many many quests in MY OPINION this new system isnt very differant then the old one and no more healthier than the last its just another xp grind.

the only problem is that everyone on the server will be runing around with a glowstick... not a good thing in my opinion

I'd just like to add my observations on thenew and oldmethods of getting to Jedi:
Old System: Holo-grind = grind every profession & (potentially)screw over the economy by flooding it with cheap goods (crafter profs)
New System: FS Grind = grind regular xp, convert into FS xp, weaponsmiths sell more nades and armoursmiths sell more composite
Overall in my opinion the new system is better and is effecting the economy less than the old one. However the new system does require you to have a good backing in the form of either credits or crafter friends/alts.

You don't have to grind FS XP (well except for FS crafting XP), it just take a lot longer to get a Jedi. I can easily max out Rifle XP in one session just by playing and killing things. But that would take me around 125 days to get the XP. That was my plan to start with, not grind any XP just play as usual. But now I have become more eager to get my Jedi so I have started to do some heavy XP grinding. Might even pick up Commando but not sure (I really like my current build).
But I still think that there should be other ways to get FS XP. Add quests that give you FS XP as an alternative. I don't think it should be all quest based that would become a grind as well. But to be able to either do some quests or for example go to Geo lab and kill and get XP would be nice.

the reason i wanted a quest based format for the path to jedi, is to add something every single player asks for....
Content fair enough, peeps have their own way of collecting the XP required for this path. Players can play 24/7 and usually 13 hours a day to get this grind done.
but why, should all the MMORG be about grinding XP? okay i can only play around 6 hours a WEEK!!! due to university atm.
But that will change, and then i can do more work in game. The jedi quest idea i have benefits both the system that is in place, and the player.
Rather than grinding out 1 billion nunas just for one path, we could have 10 quests (similar to the village just now) where we can go around the galaxy doing things like.
* Helping the locals against raids on towns.
* Healing the locals after raids.
* Crafting defensive items used to repel Sith raiders.
these can be designed for fun, but hard enough that gives the player some form of achievement.
i will design some form of Frequently asked questions regarding this issue come saturday....
